@illDiology nice to hear a positive comment. i think the best way to play him is much like how you would play a MVC2 Sentinel. with that said personally i feel that getting in close is where MODOK shines the most. i will say that one of his biggest perks is that he can hold his own from almost every range, but i've never felt that he should be played as a "keep-away" type character mainly because they're better characters for that job and most of his combos require you to be fairly close
At midscreen you can sometimes literally shoot some crouching medium over a character so it's behind them and land some unblockables since they have to block low for the puddle.
In my opinion modok is a balanced character since he can play keep away and rush down and always be a threat. Similar to doctor doom he has some really nasty corner combos (which you can clearly see) and it isn't too hard to get somebody there. To some of the players that are new to him how you play is deter mend by the match up. If you're againest rushdown play keepaway, if you are againest keepaway either runaway in the air and make them pursue or play rushdown.
@YWQMD ...I'm about to test it but....if you have a character(s) that can push some1 into the corner from 90% away from it...(I have such a combo) then the MODOK's aerial exchange combo still works as it was shown in the video then that is certainly useful....dead characters without using meter is always nice.
@Xecutionner2K Don't jump in the Buff wagon yet. Just a couple of days ago someone posted a full-screen mostly cube-less MODOK combo that dealt 900+ mil damage.
OMG, DO you know what you just did?? You inspired everyone to be more analytical ! jk But people are most likely gonna start playing him. and it looks like it's gonna be crazy
I'm not sold on M.O.D.O.K. It looks like he's only able to do crazy shit in the corners, and M.O.D.O.K. isn't exactly designed for backing people up into corners. Also seems like you'd really need to build a team around him, with the right assists, to get these combos.
Lots of ignorance in these comments. >M.O.D.O.K. isn't exactly designed for backing people up into corners Uh yeah actually he is. d+H, IAD, air M into combo pushes them. Or land f+H into wavedash into combo ... pushes them very far. >Compaining about MODOK MODOK is "difficult but awesome". You have to constantly be aware of Level of Understanding and spend it wisely and even his BnB combos are extremely difficult to pull off in a match. He's got a lot of tools but you have to be smart.
Holy sweet Super Mecha Death Christ 2000 B.C Version 4.0 Beta... bitch...THAT WAS GODLY! I must have this power to pwn! Teach me oh mighty smiter of scrubs...*bows*
only problem landing that first hit. MODOK's mobility is fairly poor. Though Tron kinda suffered the same problem, people just get better as closing the gaps and landing that first hit. Assists will be super key to landing a hit to get a good combo rollin. Then its A A A A AAAA!!!!
These combos are so legit. I can do the first one now, but one problem... I don't like Capt. America. Been trying to find other characters to replace him, but his assist is just so good. It doesn't pop them up too high and he jumps away fast enough for Haggar to come in. The experimentation continues!
