With the compact IP67 module MVK Metal from Murrelektronik, you can connect safety inputs and outputs directly to a Siemens Sinumerik 849D SL PROFINET CNC providing that the "safety integrated" function is activated. Safety data from various safety components like emergency buttons, safety light curtains and sensors are sent directly to the control by the protocol. There is no need for a passive wiring in the control cabinet anymore. Using PROFINET/PROFIsafe ensures that safety-related data is transferred reliably. With MVK Metal Safety high safety standards (SIL3 and PLe) can be fulfilled without a safe control (F-PLC). Of course MVK Metal also works with an F-PLC.
MVK Metal monitors for errors such as overload, sensor short circuits or wire breaks on each individual channel. An LED indicates which port is affected and the error data is sent to the control (here: Siemens Sinumerik). The advantage with the single channel diagnostic path is that it ensures that only the affected channel is switched off without interfering with the other channels.
