Shawntinice Polk is arguably the greatest women's basketball player ever at the University of Arizona.
Her team doctors ignored countless warning signs of the large blood clot that killed her.
The university stalled her campus health records and profited hugely from her death.
I was a journalist at the ABC affiliate in Tucson when she died. When I tried to find out what led to her death, the university pushed to have the story shut down. Local medical officials and media were all too happy to join in that effort.
Because I was raising a daughter and didn't trust these doctors, I let the story go. But I never stopped thinking about Polkey.
Now, 19 years after her death, I decided to dig out the old footage I shot and tell the real story of campus health and the university that controlled the facts of her death. If you have a half hour, I think you will find it interesting. She should be with us today.
