8:41 I definitely know exactly what you are talking about there. I had the same feeling for a long time. Although later when I stopped with RTA runs I found enjoyment in ILs since they're shorter and more convenient if you don't have much time or energy for full game runs and/or streams. Great runs on your channel, been kinda bingewatching your stuff for the past day or two. Very much appreciate when I find content like this. Cheers man and keep killing it!
I started doing speedruns in 2010, entirely IL focused, I didn't really properly attempt full game runs until 2020, so I have a ton of experience with playing them, and I honestly have more fun overall playing like that, but it takes a lot more time, and yeah it's very repetetive. And while you can play them for just a couple minutes, a lot of IL runners end up grinding a single level for longer than the entire game run would take lol.
@@klooger28 Interesting. My first video on youtube is actually FNG Cargoship from cod4 from around that era lol. Yeah, exactly. Plus, grinding ILs is usually banging your head against the wall until RNG works in your favor once your muscle muscle memory gets to a certain level. Sometimes it is cool because it can provide this theoretical best time one could achieve in a segment of a real run though. Depends on how far you wanna take it. I have done decent runs of like 7-8 games and I must say that a segmented, speeddemosarchive-style Doom 3 RoE run is my favorite to watch out of everything I have done and it is the only one not RTA. But then again, you can't do segmented strats in RTA runs and the skill of getting consistent setups for RTA has its beauty as well. Goddamn, I miss getting PBs 😀😀

i played this campaign many times in high school ten years ago but now? i remember literally none of these levels. edit- wait i remembered the sandstorm lmao but i only remember that part because of spec ops the line edit- and soap dying. of course. but that's story not gameplay and also EVERYONE was traumatized by that scene meanwhile mw1 and 2 i played literally once through each in middle school at a friend's house, and i still remembered every single level, every moment, when i replayed them a few years ago when i played through them once, then again when i replayed them this month.
I remember the first (and last) time I did WAW on Veteran. On the hardest mission, right at the end, the game soft-locked so I had to go back to a brutal checkpoint, lmao. The pillar at the end of Heart of the Reich was supposed to come down and it was my first playthrough ever so I was so confused for 10 minutes when nothing was happening.
Was playing co op through WAW veteran a while back and I forgot the pillar falls I was taking cover behind the sandbags and looked up just in time to see the pillar fall on my head
Haha. For some reason I thought this was a 2:09 return to sender and I clicked on it so fast. Glad you barely squeezed out the 2:09 mw3. Anyways, very excited for ghosts!
@@TTVIcyBlue04 I have not lol, I guess it's probably impossible to prove otherwise, but I only started speedrunning cod campaigns in mid 2020, at this point I have the full game record for 10 of them, plus a few more records in other categories, all done within the last year and a half. I did start with running the spec ops levels a very long time ago, which gave me a good skill base to improve from with the movement and aim and all that, but I took many very long breaks inbetween all that.
