Sir, those 2 videos on how to configure MX-21 are a real eye-opener for me. I am in my 60's. and after a lifetime of automation programming, wondering today why I never entered the Linux realm. I subscribed after your first video. Just finished completely rebuilding and upgrading a donor Dell laptop, then ran a military grade wipe on SSD using "Destruct Pro". Then loaded MX-21 on entire SSD. I hate Microsoft. I truly enjoy using MX online for videos, etc, and learning the office tasks now. It will take me a week to perform all your modifications, but has to be done, because your machine is what I want. Wish I could donate to Steampunk for an iso copy of it!
Thanks for the kind words. It's great being able to use alternative OS's for sure! That's a great idea about creating an ISO of my setup. When I have the time I will indeed upload it for people to use.
You will return to Windows soon or later because it's the best OS , easy, beautiful, practical and compatible with hardware and software, great support and stability....
I discovered you by chance but after the first video that I saw I subscribed to your channel. Your videos are a delight for me who I am 64 years old and I worked 45 in windows But now, thanks to you I discovered linux. I thank God for being here
Nice personality, clear and concise explanations with no rambling at all, excellent image and sound quality, great editing and graphics (have you guys noticed the green progress bar below him that shows the duration of the segment?), this is pro content right here. The Linux community grows thanks to guys like you.
This is such a well explained video with clear instructions and steps to transform MXLinux into the style that you wish. TYsm 🙇🏽 Please create more great content like this.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the exact informations that you give, you are a professional and you help beginner like me, i hope that you will continu like this
Thank you. You are a legend!! I followed along from the first tutorial on set up, and continued with this to the end. I themed differently. Thank you so much. You rock!!
Thanks, this is really appreciated. It is nice to see you give a shout out to the various developers of free item you use (e.g., themes & cursors). Great work. Cheers!
Thank you very much for your videos, I was tired of trying "linux distros" and MX21 with XFCE seemed very complicated to configure, but thanks to you now I see that it is much more configurable than I thought. It will take several days to configure everything to my liking but I think I will get it by watching your magnificent videos. Thanks again.
When I updated my MX Boot Options the progress indicator in 'Updating configuration, please wait' was pink on my computer instead of the better looking green like in the video. Apparently, I somehow missed configuring that correctly. - Otherwise, killer! Big improvement in overall usability and appearance. ~ Cool ! Big thanks !
I like your customization, i think i will use all of these except for the dock, only thing i dont like, dont see the point when you can ulauncher everything. Other than that, i enjoyed these videos, helped me get back into using linux again and using the first distro i ever started with, debian, which is my first and favourite, and i have been enjoying the MX linux version.
Another excellent video. Thank you so much for unlocking the simplicity and beauty of a great OS. A question I've been meaning to ask pertains to left-clicking on a file in Thunar, for example. I have the dark theme installed and whenever I left-click on a file to select it, probably because of the theme, the file is not visible, it becomes blackened. Is there a tweak for that?
@tenfourproductionsllc Thanks for the question. Ulauncher is much more than an app launcher. I made a video about some of the other functions it has here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dvMsYCGzWaM.html
Everything works fine for me, except that I can't see HDMI on a TV, I don't know if I have to install a driver or a script to make it work. I get the desktop to not for example if I put Netflix in the browser it is not seen on the TV. Thanks in advance for your help. Greetings from Spain.
@Juan Clari Thank you for your question. There are a couple of threads on the MX Linux forum that might be able to help: forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=674540&hilit=hdmi+external+monitor#p674540 forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=673654&hilit=hdmi+external+monitor#p673654 If these don't address your issue, then I would encourage you to ask the question on the forum. They are a great community and very helpful. Cheers from Australia!
@kylenorris9585 To mitigate that I turn off auto 'snapshots and that way I have control of how much room is being taken up. I usually take a Timeshift snapshot if I install a program or periodically after update/upgrades then delete older snapshots. Thanks for your comment!
Hello, I have one question, I want a different desktop wallpaper on all of my work-spaces and have made sure that the show on all work-spaces box is unticked and this works fine until I reboot and then it is back to the same wallpaper on all work-spaces. Have tried searching for a solution but have not found anything that helps. Any ideas?
@@StaempunkTV I found out what the issue was, I had variety installed and that was taking control of my wallpapers. I checked it on a hunch and when I disabled variety the problem went away. Just some more info for you to pass on if anyone else has the same problem. Thanks for wanting to help though, much appreciated and as I am pretty much still a linux novice everything you do here has been very helpful. Keep up the good work and please keep the videos coming.
@Pepe721 If you double-click the deb package you want to uninstall, it should open up in the GDebi package installer and you'll be able to click uninstall from there.
@Pepe721 Your other option is to launch the Synaptic Package Manager and search for the app you want to uninstall there. When you find it, right-click it and select 'mark for removal' then click apply.
Hey will you please tell me how to delete added repositories in MX Linux easily, I added a reposotiry and it just malfunction so I wanna remove it how To do it, please tell
Peppermint 10 ran great on my old laptop but on my other not-quite-as-old laptop, MX runs super well so I've been getting familiar with its Debian base. I love the stability and speed of both though. But that said, I've just replaced Peppermint on the old laptop with antiX-21 so I can turn it into a speedy audio engineering workstation.
@@StaempunkTV is antix better for old hardware in comparison to MX xfce? I've an old laptop that I want to give it to someone but now I'm thinking to run linux on it.
@@StaempunkTV I went back to KDE Plasma Neon. I was looking forward to trying out MX-21 but will have to wait until they sort out the bluetooth issue. So, until that time I will just have to keep watching your and enjoying your videos.
@@StaempunkTV I still like it and will stick with it but will still try MX-21 when and if they get the bluetooth sorted out. Love your work though and happy subscriber.
@@StaempunkTV Just thought I would put an update here. I am now on MX-21 and I even went for the xfce flavour because of this channel. I have copied most of what you have done here (my own theme choices) and a very happy camper. This is my first try at using a tiling window manager and think I could get used to this. The only thing I had a problem with was when using plank there was a line across the screen about 2cm above the dock that only came on when plank started up then was on every workspace but after I did some digging it went away when I set VBlank in the compositor settings to off so all good now. If I had gone back to a previous video of yours you covered that issue so I face palmed myself quite vigorously. Thanks for all of the informative videos you put out and MX-21 is going to be staying on my machine as it is not the most powerful but is working very well now. 👍👍👍
@@StaempunkTV I am just looking for downloading a theme , and installing it , how to , where to put the files etc...I am actually using AVLinux witch is made on MX21 , and their theme is awfull , can't read the characters on some windows. Thanks for your help.
, I've been watching videos on MX-Linux 21 XFCEand your is the best I've seen regarding configuration even though it's not my cup of tea, but Itook note just in case I decide to trash the DE again :D (edit) btw, have you reid LAVA Pink theme? it comes with a darker shade than sweet dark.
@@StaempunkTV Theres an orange version as well. Window decorations are Arc. Very elegant. In my Cinnamon configuration is fat remix gtk red darkest theme.
