yeah i checked out the rv-6 and it sounds good, but the mxr sounded smother and richer to my ear, but one thing about boss pedals they could withstand a tank rolling over them.lol!!!!
im a fan of mxr in fact i do have couple of mxr pedals, analog delay, dyna com, micro chorus and bad ass dist. but when it come to reverb i guess tc electronics hall of fame 2 was way more better.
Great demo! I just don't understand how the expression pedal mode works. I have the exact Roland EV-5 expression pedal but I don't get it to work with the M300. I hope you can find some time to help me out with this. The volume on the EV-5 isn't visible in your demo. How should I set it? Thanks in advance. Greetings from the Netherlands.
I know it is 6 years already. When i set to wet mode. The mix knob just works like a volume knob, yeah? If i turn the mux know anti clock wise all the way, no sound, is it right?
Couple questions: Does the pedal retain the expression settings when you turn it off/ unplug the expression pedal? Can you select 2 different modes for the expression pedal? Like epic at the toe and spring at the heel?
the pedal does retain the expression settings when turned off :) you can customise the range of the expression sweep.. so you can set the expression to be a volume pedal for the reverb or you can set it to morph between two reverb configurations you like.. but you cant jump between styles.. so you can go from "spring to spring" but not from "spring to epic" .. once you set the expression pedal it will stay set at that range even if you switch style.. hope this helps!
I'm still trying to figure out how to set it up with an exp. pedal. I saw a video from strymon that explained how to use a trs breakaway to connect a vp jr as an expression but I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I will check to see if the MXR is capable of this function :) I know that the Timeline and BigSky can do it.. maybe the MXR doesn't work that way.. Ill let you know!
I want something that does Shimmer well and doesn't sound too digital/carnival sounding. I had the Hall of Fame 2 and the Shimmer sounded pretty good but the pitch was off and you were getting sounds that were out of tune and it seemed to lack the ability to dial it in just enough so it was audible but not to the point it took over your sound. I like the Pad setting for Shimmer alot on this but I feel like the Keeley Caverns V2 has a decent sounding Shimmer but not as good as the pad setting on this however it also has delay. The Epic and Pad on this actually give me the type of Shimmer effect I want. More of a sparkle and trail than full blown shimmer. Do I buy this or the Keeley? I should point out the only delay pedal I have is a delay reverb combo its the Earthquaker Devices Avalanche Run V2 and unlike the Keeley Caverns V2 you cant use reverb or delay without lowering the mix
What If I use a Mono Input and a Splitter TRS Y Cable on the output going into 2 amps? It will be one side dry and the other wet? And what If I do the same but set the internal switch to "Stereo"?
I hear there is quite a few true bypass pedals that create a popping sound when pressed.. I have one or two pedal that do this.. have you tried putting the MXR in trails bypass mode? that might fix the problem! you can find out how to do this in the manual :)
also try cycling the pedal on and off a few times, i've had a few pedals where it was like there was a little bit of a static charge built up and if I clicked it on and off a few times before performing-it'd go away.
good question! I'm not really sure about that.. I'd email Dunlop and ask they have great customer service and usually reply with in a few days.. their email is customerservice@jimdunlop.com hope this helps!
This vs. Neunaber Immerse? If just comparing the plate and basic verb settings, which one sounds nicer? I had an old Mono Wet but foolishly sold it. Tried an Immerse and found it didn't sound as good. I don't use shimmer but would like a really nice plate verb. Would also love it if the spring sounded genuine (so far no digital pedal seems to emulate a real spring verb).
+Mark Emmerton I have a video planned that will compare the two.. should be out hopefully mid week maybe a few days later so stay tuned for that! I do agree its hard to find a pedal spring reverb that sticks out.. I use a fender twin, so pedals don't really come close to what i'm used to with spring.. though having different sounds is always interesting but I usually end up using plate or hall reverbs on pedals.. would you recommend the mono wet? the immerse was the first Neunaber pedal i've tried :)
The Immerse seemed less lush than the Wet. They changed the algorithm and also changed the MIX knob to an EFFECT VOL knob. That difference also had an impact on how the effect interacted I think. I had my mono and the immerse side by side and the older one sounded better (but lacked all the extra features). I am also considering the Flux Liquid ambience and Specular verbs. Hesitating on the MXR until more comparisons and user reviews are out there.
+Mark Emmerton Interesting :) thanks for your input! ill be sure to check out the Wet! have you tried the stereo version? love the look of the flux liquid ambience.. heard some crazy sounds on their video for it.. i remember hearing a sort of detuning reverb! ill have to check out the Specular
+Mark Emmerton Hey Mark! My new video that compares this pedal and the Immerse is up.. there is a few other reverbs in it tho.. hope you don't mind! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZDlNd9BYOtc.html
The dry sound of the actual guitar strings can be heard in this demo. Not a very good approximation of how the pedal actually sounds. Were you even miking the amp?
Great demo! I was thinking "who needs the 100% wet setting!", but after hearing it here, I'm pretty sure that I might use it at least for some atmospheric segues or Pink Floyd of the 21st century flavoured instrumental tracks. Also, room at 100 % wet is cool. The guitar can sit there in the background, though it can still be present in the mix, carrying a soft vocal through a laid back song. I imagine something like Little Scream, the first album (I don't even know if there's a second album).
So tempted to buy this now that it's cheap. I have the ehx oceans 11 and they are comparable, but that pad sound is worth the price of the pedal alone... Might as well buy it and combine them. Hahaha
Haha! I'd definitely recommend it, the only annoying I found with it is the fiddly stereo feature.. I don't get why they didn't put a stereo in / stereo out haha
Update bought it on Amazon a few minutes ago. Yeah I thought it was weird that the stereo input was a hidden switch on the inside and instead of using 2 outputs, they make you buy a stereo cable. I'll just run it through my flamma stereo reverb to split it and avoid the whole mess. Love your pedal reviews. Professional and great guitar playing. Cheers.
