yes it is. both nasty and creamy at the same time; i keep it on mid-scooped RED mode with my precision basses... gets the impression of playing from a cranked up, saturated valve head! Compared to classic bass fuzz boxes, such as the mxr blowtorch, or ehx big muff, it's the best in preserving bottom end; even with sub-harmonics off.

Thanks for the comment. Can you tell what model ESP bass Nate is playing, it looks like a B-5 but I am not sure if the pickups are stock soap bars or if it may have had active pickups installed.

I used to have that bass and the octave pedal (girth and rumble one) sounded so dope out of my 15" 300watt amp. Dunno why your bass was so red and the neck-through was so light tho, mine was just stained all natural-like.

Nate! My pedal keeps draining the battery when I let it sit. I am a low level player, so I practice without it. Should I remove the battery when it's not in use, or is there a way of turning it off? Thankyou, and great playing!

Very cool video, but i'm still not convinced the bass effects are usefull. I mean, i use a compressor on 100% of time, but flanger, envelope, distortion, i can't see a single song that it would be useful to me. For my taste, i prefer the natural string tones, even on heavy metal songs. But this is only my oppinion, and i'm just a drop of water in the middle of the ocean

Just depends on what you're doing, really. Rage Against The Machine without fuzz would be sorely lacking, and players like Cliff Burton are defined by their effects and how they utilize them.

This comment reminds me of all those people that get on videos with "Slap" in the title, and then proceed to bash slap bass playing. You can tell from the title of the video that it's an effects video, so if you're not interested in bass effects videos, why did you watch this, then feel the need to comment about how little use you feel these effects are? I don't get it...

@@pbass6811 Yes, you are right. I'm well aware about my limited knowledgment on bass issues. Even though i play basses for 35 years, i never got confortable with bass effects. For a while i tried a chorus as a test, but gave it up. It seems that i don't find my way, you know what i mean? So once in a while, when a video like this one from Nathan pops up, i check it up to see if i learn something different. I think that guitars are more sucessfull using effects, such as heavy metal music that it's impossible to exist without drive effects. I don't think there is a bass effect that is so necessary to play a music style. Well, i'll keep my ears open. Who knows about tomorrow?
