This is a paid advertisement to put the klx in a good light. They aren't wrong, but they left heaps out. It has 1 litre of oil capacity, needs to be changed every 1000km/600miles, valves need checking every thousand kilometres, piston needs replacing every 1500km, (for racing, you can get 20 000km on a piston if you take care of it). Stator is very weak, can keep the battery charged, but when it gets old it can struggle, especially if you stall it heaps. Luckily it has a kickstarter. The bike felt heavy for the guy because it is heavy. 125kg wet. Also only has 8 litre fuel tank, good for 100km/60miles, however acerbis and IMS make bigger tanks up to 4 gallons/16litres. Aftermarket support is poor because these aren't the most popular bike for some reason. It's also jetted very lean from factory. To fix this, remove airbox snorkel, add a kx450 header and muffler (muffler optional, the kx one is offensively loud) and get a JD jetting kit or goodle it, there's info on the web abt it. Long term reliability is supposed to be good, but it is basically a motorcross bike with softer suspension, slightly different gear ratios, heavy flywheel and some less aggressive valves for low down power
Thought of getting KLX250 but changed my mind seeing how wimpy it is. KLX450R will it be. Probably a lot of bike for my skill, but at least I have a lot of shoes to fill and won't get bored in a weekend.
need to follow yamahas lead with how they got around the rules with their wr450..... would of loved to put this bike aside my kx500 now it has a wr450 aside it instead....
