@@louise7552 hi Louise! In the US, we pay once every month. So typically you will pay on the 1st of the month. Things like water and utilities (electricity and such) are paid separately. So if her rent is $1,000 she may pay around $1,150 total. It’s common that our paychecks will come once a fortnight (we call it biweekly in the US lol I had to look up what fortnight meant)

I'm a retired interior designer who loves to watch "apartment tours" of people who decorated their own spaces and are proud of it.... Your place looks great... Love the fabric and color choices, (the sofa, red "clothes rack" and the light blue "stools" ), very nice... Love the textural differences ( leather pillow and hanging planters)... Almost everyone, who enters my apartment, face lights up and says "wow, this is nice"....I'm sure you get the same thing... When I first saw the Ikea shoe rack, I thought "this might be a good one".... Beautiful place, great job... Take care.

The price for that apartment, good lighting and in unit laundry is priceless. The sunrise art piece in your bathroom reminds me of a bedsheet i saw with that design. You could get that and add it on a shower rod as an outer shower curtain. You've got a lovely home. Blessings

I was thinking the same thing about your shower curtain you need to add a little color to it . I don’t know if you go to thrift stores or not but you may find some nice curtains are shower curtains very reasonable. You have done a great job on decorating your apartment

First let me say how beautiful you are and those braids with beads takes me back when I was young, love them. Now your place, I have to say finally no creames and black like most apt tour I see. beautiful space. $1000 is still a lot to me for a lottery home, but an absolute dream for nyc. the in-washer and dryer sold me. The way you organized your closets are so good too

That apartment itself rent is more than likely $3000+ winning the apartment lottery is a big help & a blessing & based on her income if $1000 is all she have to pay for the rent that's a blessing also. You will not find any apt. in NY under $1000 or just $1000 no where, as well as not even a studio or a rental room in a rooming house. Having a program like the apartment lottery & Section 8 is so needed here in NY because the rent out here is crazy & that is just the truth!!!

@@lomiju I am so sorry, I just now is seeing your comment. In New York now by law any apartment complex that is built no matter how high end luxury the apartment complex is, by law they have to have a certain amount of units income base meaning tenants will pay rent at their income level, not the market price of what the rent actually is. That is where the lottery apartment program comes in anyone who is not making 6 figures or more a year can apply for the lottery apartment program & everyone who applied name goes on the lottery list & when an income base apartment become available all the names on the lottery list goes into a drawing & is pulled from that drawing, the name that was drawn is the person who won the lottery for that particular income base apartment in an high end luxury apartment, which the most average person just making it daily can't afford on their own. I hope I explain it well enough that, I did not confused you....

You have great taste, but you had me with Donny Hathaway and that his would be your first record to own!! I'm old enough to be your grandmother and still have 2 of his records. I remember the moment (44 yrs ago?) I was driving home in SF and heard on the radio that he had died. Brought me to tears. The voice of an angel. How many apts have laundry in the unit?! I own my own home with a yard so I garden, but when I last lived in an apartment I had a pothos that was so large it covered the picture window. Flowering hibiscus were on the sill. And that place was super organized because I didn't have all the superfluous stuff I have now. Very happy for you that you won that lottery. 🤗

Kudos on your good fortune! Lovely apartment; gorgeous decor.🤗 Call that seating area at the window your... 'withdrawing corner'😊 From: [regency romance with]drawing room, where one would sit to relax and enjoy a cup of tea- possibly with a guest! Instead of matching chairs for the mosaic table, the acrylic is a nice complement- although, with both, I would add a cushion in a color drawn from the table.

Congrats! I won a one bedroom apartment but my upstairs neighbor had her kids constantly jumping and running I couldn’t sleep or relax in the apartment. The neighbors on the side of me threw parties until 3am in the morning. It was a brand new apartment on the expensive side so I moved out and rented a regular apartment where I had peace 😌.
