It really brings such joy to my heart just seeing those peaceful beautiful beings standing there in their pastures. It makes me Think why am I or anybody else living in cities or suburbs. The only way to live is in that kind of a surrounding.

My, Scarlet certainly has grown a lot. She looks like a totally different horse. I love it how you let Huckleberry at home when it's baby gopher season, even if said gophers are pestering you with digging holes everywhere.

I was once in a bird sanctuary and a golden eagle took a dive at our toddler. It was within inches of her, and two meters of us. It was astonishingly large, it could have picked up my daughter.

Watching and listening to you about Scarlett just emphasizes your expertise on all aspects of horse ownership! Back "in the olden days" when I was young, people just assumed that all horses were mature, and ready for any type training by 3 yr. old. Your wonderful videos and explanations make far more sense than anything I was ever taught! She's beautiful! I loved watching her prance around while you worked her, even though I bet that was annoying. You're so gentle with your horses. Am I mistaken or does she have an unusually proud trot? Also a lovely show of trust. I think that spot right in front of their face is a blind spot, so not surprising that some are more protective.

happy to see the little rez pony doing well. Being indigenous - I know the tribes are trying to overcome assimilation and get back to our culture - we value the horse most and it is good to see changes (culture back) that will ensure these rez ponies have a great life! Scarlett reminds me of My horse I had as a teenager. Peppe' she was Arabian and quarter horse. Sorral. Strawberry and gold mane and her tail had every color in the book. ❤ that was in the early 70s and I still dream about her. Oh My!

It's smart for Tiny not to stray from the barn area during the day due to birds of prey. A red tailed hawk tried to snatch up my little cat through my patio window! 😮 After it hit the window it flew to a near by tree & looked pretty disappointed that he couldn't get her.

I just started watching Scarlett's story from her beginning with you. Now I can't believe this is the same horse! I came across a quote today, from Leonardo da Vinci "...love of anything is the offspring of ... knowledge". Watching you work with your horses is true testament of this.

Having had a Trakehner colt as a pasture pet, she is pretty typical of what I called "hoppy happy" -- Trigger would whack me with his head, duck and dance after standing still for the halter and lunging beautifully, then breaking with a hop, twist and shout. He'd run at me when I was out with the goats and herding dogs, then break, hop and run in the opposite direction. Let's just call it spirit -- she likes you which is a big compliment! Great video!

I live in the Midwest and gophers here look pretty much like nekkid mole rats. I was shocked to see that CC's gophers have fur. I agree, hers are some kind of ground squirrel.

Oh, Scarlet moves so beautifully! 💖💖 ... My dog was the same w her paws! Couldnt touch them, took soooo long to desensitize her. 😶 And she never even had any trauma, i just think she simply doesnt like it 😂

I love what you do so much. I'm 71 years old, and I always wanted a horse -- who doesn't? -- but of course I was always told it was out of the question. I'm too old to learn to ride now -- although I have ridden a little bit -- but if I can build up my strength I may try it again. (WHen I was young, as in college age and afterward, my best friend was a rider who entered horse shows. But only briefly.) But to see animals being saved from kill pens -- please, there is nothing better anywhere, than seeing beautiful, exquisite, valuable creatures saved from something like a kill pen. Please, never stop. And thank you.

Never too old!! I'm 72, and still riding and still learning. Don't let anyone else set your boundaries, because you're the one who will have to live with the regrets. I'm not saying play cowboy, but use a mounting block and go for a nice amble. It'll probably add years to your life, and certainly to your enjoyment.
