Many believe that Lin Dan used to use those short grips because it was cheaper, that's not it he did it because he had the bad habit of holding it too high. I always remove those yonex factory grip and i'm a towel grip user. ( no sweaty hands, alternative: use sweat from spots like neck, forehead, etc. )
@tars3249
@tars3249 4 года назад
I do believe that's probably the main reason. I would also say Lin Dan loving his head heavy feeling rackets didn't want that much weight around the handle area. Towel grips are like 2/3 times as heavy as PU grip so it would definitely cut down on weight to only grip half way. Probably would not effect the swing much at all but the feel would be different.
@BadmintonwithJeffrey

It's actually the opposite, Lin Dan adds lead tape to the head of his racket to make them even more heavy! D:

thickness of grip depends on hand size. kids and adults with smaller hands should be using thinner grips. if the grip is too thick, you can't use as much dexterity in your shots. for my younger students (5 6 7 year olds) i take off the stock grip and file down the wood to make it even thinner. makes a huge difference
@jw-vx8im
@jw-vx8im 3 года назад
Making the grip too thick can also change the racquet balance and increase the racquet weight. I got a shock when I weighed some grips and the racquets after installing them. If you test a racquet with a particular grip and change it radically you maybe dissappointed

What tape/glue do you use to glue your Lin Dan Grip Style at the end of the grip ? Because I used some double tape at the end of the grip but failed, the grip is off
@tars3249

So when you play backhand clears/drops with that grip you just press your thumb on the wood? Does it not slip especially if you are trying to make contact with a corner bezel for backhand clears or drops. I think it would suit net play and would be no issue for all forehand shots, just cant see backhand overhead shots being too comfortable with that grip style but maybe I'm wrong.
@BadmintonwithJeffrey
@BadmintonwithJeffrey 4 года назад
So a misconception about the backhand clear is that you use the backhand grip for it. The “backhand grip” that has your thumb up on the flat side of the racket is mainly used for backhand drives. In any case, the grip is quite comfortable for me for all shots :)

@@BadmintonwithJeffrey but you do put the thumb on the corner bezel? That's what I meant. I mean like you place your thumb at the 45° point on the handle. Which has less surface area than the front or sides. But its good to know its comfortable, i might try it sometime. Currently i just remove all stock grip and wrap 2 layers of perforated overgrip on the bare wood. Gives that solid feel that some spongy grips lack but keeps decent thickness to fit my slightly larger hands.

Ahhh yes I do put my thumb on the corner bezel. Tbh I like the feeling even when I’m touching the wooden part of the grip 😅 feels cool

@@BadmintonwithJeffrey yeah the feedback you get is pretty nice I'd imagine. Like you i found the towel grip to be just way too slippy. Great feeling but not practical for me :D

Hi what type of string do you use and what string do you recommend for offense and defense player
@BadmintonwithJeffrey
@BadmintonwithJeffrey 4 года назад
I use BG 65 because it lasts long, even when you string it at high tensions. I haven’t used any other string so I’m not sure about what’s good for offense and defensive players haha. Just play with what feels right :)
