Here is recommendation of someone with 20 years on board: Ride your board downhill, start little and bend your knees in the curves, feeeeel the curve and the bend, flex your knees, raise your arms up for balance. Ride fast in difficult terrain, bend your knees and raise arms, go into curves and ride through with speed. This will get you closer to your board and your balance will progress. When learning tricks: Bend your knees and raise your arms up while/before popping. Do not bend your back too much and do not lower your head too much, try staying centered, bending knees will help. Have fun.

I know it sounds corny but watching it was like Art being made every skater has been there knows the struggles and the slams and pain that comes after but it's a feeling like no other when you learn a new trick it's addicting and in time you create your own style I've been skating for years and I still get subconscious about my own tricks it takes guts to get on a board and it takes even more to post a video like this for criticism...... Respect!!!!!!👍

Ride your board everywhere you go dude, it will greatly improve your balance and build you a strong and comfortable foundation for tricks later on. You will get rid of that awkward period soon. But like others have mentioned before, YOU GOTTA BEND THOSE KNEES DUDE and tighten your trucks a little. It’s super important for balancing. Keep riding bro, you’ve improved so much in just 1 year!

Great progress, well done! I'm not an expert but I used to be a decent skateboarder about ten years ago. The advice I would give to you is to really focus on getting your ollie perfect before moving to other tricks. I did what you have done and learned a lot of tricks fast but they really didn't have any form. When I started to skate with better people I essentially realized I had to re-learn everything. The best example in the video is how your heelflip doesn't level out. You need to be making sure you pop right at the end of your tail and really tucking your knees, even tweaking your back foot. Even a little more speed when trying tricks wouldn't be bad. I always found going slower to be more hindering then helping. Hope this helps, keep up the great work :)

Love this video man. I wish I had progression videos to show my rise also. It brings me back to the days of sitting on my gravel road one my 1980's Fat Boy, just practicing my Ollie from sun up to sun down. When I first landed one it was no more then 1/2" off the ground but that was it for me I was hooked. I later got signed by my Local Board shop, "PRO Skate" and started riding for them. I have been teaching kids to ride for awhile now but their motivation gets drained and it's easy to say "I used have a hard time too guys, you'll get it" lol but they look at you like "Whatever dude you been good your whole life" 🙄 ... So I decide to show some videos to them but all you can find is Pro's either killing it and landing the perfect Trick or Bailing so fucking hard that it would make these kids drop their board for good lol... I would like to show them your video. I find it very inspiring and you show great progression. I would like to see more of these types of Videos. Good job man, like I said your killing it now from what I see. That feeling you get when you finally land the trick you have been killing yourself to land, you can't get that feeling from anything else. Thanks for posting! ... Skate Safe Man

This has helped me so far throughout my skateboarding. Just repeat this to yourself before performing a trick, “if I fall, I fall. I’ll just dust it off that’s it.” That’s helped me so much you guys don’t understand.

Great video. I can see the progress each month. I quit riding when I was 17. I just got a new board and I'm 46 now. Using it to ride from my job's parking garage into the office. I'm loving it and am working on getting my ollie back, in the dark, once my kids are in bed. I'll get there. Keep it up!

You progressed alot. The best part of skating is figuring out a trick, and the moment it clicks in your head how to do it. The beginning is when you learn what every other trick is based upon. Keep it up and enjoy the fails.

U did not start as a 10y old Which made me loose some of my motivation bc i feel like everyone is just better at me and younger. 3. U doin the first to at the same time. I agree with everyone that says ride downhills and around town as much as possible. Getting comfy just cruising around will help soo much when it come to riding the parks.

26 and started this week, use to skate for 6 years dropped it when I was about 16, kept a longboard around so not entirely lost but the balance of doing tricks is totally lost. Just starting beginning tricks and just riding different terrain until I’m happy with my beginner tech, then kick flips and heel flips, grinds, drop ins, will come. Great motivation seeing this, such a good way to exercise brain and body.

Dope video i appreciate seeing someone realistically progress instead of doing tre flips varials and every single grind invented in their first year, this is an awesome video.

Just a suggestion ride a lot more before tricks and go a little faster flow is style but keep going bro

Nice video of progression mate, your coming along nicely, ive been on and off the board for over 20 years and can only really say with few points of help. 1. In the first few months to 2-3 years, tighter trucks will be your life saver, you will learn faster without wheel bite. 2. Ride everywhere you go to get that balance and steady feet, even just around the corner to the shop. 3. Don't be afraid to put those feet back on and commit, skateboarding isn't complete without failure and success, in the first couple years you will fail more then you succeed. but in the end your skill will grow and you will get better, just work at your own pace and keep going.

Right when I needed this. Just bout a board yesterday. Today was such a disappointing day on the board. Couldn't land a Ollie unless I had my wheels stuck I'm cracks. (Bad Ballance) But this gives me much hope

Ça fait 2/3 ans que je fais du skate et en voyant une vidéo avec un titre pareil je pensais que ça allait me mettre le seum de voir un gars qui allait faire des 36 flips, des beaux flips, etc en 1 an, mais je suis rassuré de voir que c’est normal que je le mettent pas et de voir quelqu’un de normal qui progresse bien ! Courage à toi, je comprend certaines galères que t’as mais continue d’ici quelques mois t’auras un meilleur niveau pour encore plus t’amuser !

Best tip I ever got for a kick flip when I was a kiddo was, don't kick the board to spin, just Ollie and push your foot forward, your toe does all the work. Couldn't stop landing them just with that one simple tip. Keep it up man,.

Kickflip is more easy that heelflip but it's a very good progession Congratulation men !!

You were trying a bit too hard for my taste. 10-11 month in and your front foot is still too far out while driving... Get it right behind the first two front screws not over or above. My tip for other beginners: learn how to drive properly on every terrain you want to skate on, get confident with it. Then learn how to Ollie, Perfect it...and THEN progress in other tricks. Well, this is just my two cents. No offense.

Been sk8ting for almost a month and I've been focusing on getting comfortable with being on the board and going at an ok speed. This has inspired me to try stupid shit that I probably cant do (going down ramps and all that)
