I was laughing when you said number one because I took that and do it on steroids... I thought it would be cool for people to watch my tank evolve so I stream it 24/7 on Twitch with lofi music. I don't get a lot of viewers though - but what I do love is I can put it on any TV in my house, and when I'm out I can pull it up on my phone, or up on my laptop when I'm on vacation! It definitely does give my friend who watches the tank when I'm away an extra step to take care of though! 😂
Nice list! Here’s a Tip for those who live in a house and have a car. You basically already have a generator: You just need buy an inexpensive 12v to 110V power inverter that plugs into 12v socket (cigarette lighter socket). Then run extension cord in. Depending on which equipment you plug in (and the max rating of your inverter)..you may need to idle the vehicle until power returns or start it up and run for few minutes occasionally. This method has saved my reef from disaster a couple times now. (Power usually only goes out for me in winter wind storms..when tank loses heat fast)
We lost power for weeks after Hurricane Ike and our generator died. Had an inverter that we hooked to a diesel truck and ran power to stuff. Diesels don’t really use much fuel idling. It idled like 3 days and burned like 1/8th tank in that time. Inverters are fantastic.
I worked for a filtration company, never go over the rated psi for your rodi system, if it’s 100 psi set a limiter, don’t ever boost it, the result is reduced purity of your water as the membrane has its limits. Put more in parallel if you need more than 100 gallons a day.
Great video, and I definitely agree with most of your things for sure. Out of everything, my Clarisea is one of the best terms added, the best way to change rolls is to Staple the new roll on to the old one and feed it through literally takes 5 minutes👍👍
Great List! The fact that I sing the same praises of almost All these.. It gives me the trust to try the few I dont use... like All For Reef. The One thing I promise you will want on your list is a plumbed drain line from your sump. I cant put alot of saltwater into my septic system, and it kills the grass... so i dug a ditch filled it with gravel and plumbed soft tubing thrpugh the house to the "dry well" and water changes are SO Much EASIER! The Apex Combined with the camera is the ultimate! They really need a way to host live camera streams on their server and integrate them with Fusion by allowing you to link alerts to a specific camera.. so when you get an alert text it includes the link to your camera you chose for that alert.. sump sensor or skimmer cup sensor high alert includes link to sump camera or fusion screen automatically puts that camera view at top of page.
@@shadyacres87 Well enjoy and let me know if you have any questions! I also have a instagram channel with more pictures if you like to check that out👍📸 Instagram: swissfragreefer
Love your video man. Nice job. I found the same thing with Brightwell phosphate E. Your reefing style is similar to mine. And you’re in the Nashville area too! I may see you at a frag swap sometime! Definitely subscribing 👍
Just a heads up. Pretty sure you said you have RODI system in your garage. A great place to put it until it freezes. Please don’t be a me and have your system bust on you. If garage drops to freezing temp range you are going to have an issue. You say you are in Nashville. We will have to hook up at some point. I am very close. Not a big fan of the reef scene here or the stores. Bums me out. Just got back from WWC superstore. Met and talked with Josh. Very cool guy!
I agree with you 100%! My garage is isolated and living in the southern part of the US definitely helps in my case. But to be considered for everybody to make sure no freezing temps on your RoDI🤙😎🪸❤️
Wonderful tips and straight to the point. With the camera, where do you get the film to filter the blue out? I love my Wyze camera but I don’t have any filter for it.
Mine is not stable, swings 0.3 per day and barely over 8Ph and things grow like weeds. I don’t have much coraline algae growth, but the corals is doing more than fine.😎
I do use a simple carbon bag which I put in the sump. Reactor makes it in my mind again too complicated. It is cool seeing sumps with all kinds of stuff… I LOVE to see that, but over the years I just get tired maintaining everything😅🪸❤️
Don't take out the clarisea...there is an easier way. Staple the new role to the end of the old role and just pull it through. Just make sure you count all your staples to make sure none fall out and into the sump. I do 3 staples.

@@swissfragreefer thanks for the info. Just finishing my cycle using Red Sea Blue bucket. Was planning on using all for reef as well. Was trying to keep it as simple as possible, and the top 10 you have listed here seems to be the best I’ve found so far!!
@@jimmason6411 Thanks Jim! There are much more I might make a part2 or so soon😅👍 Feel free to reach out with more questions. I am also on Instagram under swissfragreefer with more content.
One question regarding the All-for-reef. For your tank size, how many ml of AFR you need to dose per day? I have a 5ft tank with full sps currently running calcium reactor. Im trying to excess my damage if i switch to AFR. Thanks you.
I tested Mg and Ca on another tank couple year back using All-for-reef and it was always in spec. Also to many time in this hobby it is tempung the meassure so many things and make constant changes all the time. Which ends up that the corals suffer due to instability, that makes us then even more wanting to change things😅 I just like it simple and it works great for me🪸🤙
