@@soylentgreen9314 So you don't play yet you're giving someone else advice on how to play? Every single guitarist ever is a combination of their influences. You think SRV didn't play 100 licks out of the Hendrix/Albert King/Buddy Guy playbook every show? And I'm not saying that in a negative way. Every guitarist is going to have similarities to their influences. Take your advice somewhere where you actually know what you're talking about.

The thought of working on a classic guitar from 1959 by myself makes me shudder. Matt has balls of steel! Personally, I would have left the 'newer' neck on the guitar..just out of fear...and taken the original neck to a pro. But then again, all techs have are faced with doing their first 'big' job at some point in their career. I give him respect for doing the work himself.

Awesome. Glad to see the neck reunited with the '59, and hear your impressions of the 6105 frets. I'm going to be re-fretting my maple Strat neck, and considering going with either medium jumbos, or 6105 frets, just to get some more room to work, basically. The original frets on it have been leveled and crowned once, and I don't think there is enough left to do another, without leaving the frets lower than I like.

And you know what would be AWESOME, if you could state before or after your wonderful awesome noodling in your videos is what amp you’re using, the settings on the amp, and if you’re using any pedals you used, for that noodling session. It never ceases to amaze me how many great guitar players don't use their pinky. I had to wear a splint on my left had pinky for 12 weeks last summer (ripped my extensor tendon off the end joint) and it took another couple of months after that before I could use it to play. It was HORRIBLE. I eventually found ways to compensate for most things but many things were much harder. It was also mentally exhausting - I had to concentrate all the time to combat motor memory habits that were as natural as breathing to me.

I know this wouldn't interest you due to wanting to maintain vintage appearance, but I have started putting Jescar Evo Gold fw55090 on all mine now. Always used 6105 but I started to want to maintain that 'new guitar' perfect setup longer. I hate the way with nickel silver its great for a few months, then slowly gets more and more awkward. That whole slow degradation thing annoys me, especially when you are using taller frets and want to play aggressively but without a death grip. The Evo wire is 2/3rds as hard as stainless, but isn't nearly as hard on the tools. So far, I have had zero wear on my longest running axe (approx 2 years daily playing). Huge difference for me! It definitely helped me improve my playing!

@@MatthewScottmusic Its really good stuff. Just doesn't wear (depending on you chemistry etc. I'm the guy who can get 6 months out of a set of 10s lol). I also want to recommend you check out FW47104 which is the 'vintage' size wire. That makes for the best playing 7.25" strat imho but only if you set the neck dead straight and run the action around 0.022" at the nut and 0.050" at the 8th fret. I'll deck the trem with 4 springs with the low E offset quite a bit. I also run those with more or less flat tops ie. no real crown. Its like playing a fretless instrument. Absolute BUTTER all the way up the neck (especially with maple) and bending is just not an issue.
