I used to have this make and model, it was really reliable but then I hit a deer and totalled it. Mine was more worn down when I bought it, but yours is in great condition. Thank you so much for making the video.
WOW Very nice sir. Your car looks like it should dealership fresh. You are a true enthusiast. These old 80s and pre 80s American cars are worming their way in to my heart. This coming from a life long forgien car enthusiast. I've loved forgien cars forever, but now that is slowly changing to where I love all cars, least of all modern ones because they're just soulless junk. Your car is a beauty, that was built when Chevy was truly the "Heartbeat of America", and built "like a rock."
That was the Car (Except White) my Grandpa had until he bought a 1996 Buick Century. Ah the good times & had with him & my Grandma going shopping, listening to Oldies, cruising around Port Colborne Ontario. Rest in Peace Grandpa (Dida).
Wonderful video, brilliant car indeed. Reminds of my 2 1983 OLDS Cutlass Ciera Broughams that i owned in the early nineties. Those were the days i tell ya! God Bless always
Nice Beautiful car, Thank You For Taking CARE of it instead of demolition derbying it like so many people!!! The funny thing is, at the least the Celebrity with the Irorn Duke Engine gets about the same fuel economy as a Toyota Prius except the Celebrity could be ordered with plush Velour Seats, a soft padded dash and padded cloth covered door interiors with good build quality instead of the cheap hard plastic that Prius is made out of. Even if maintained well a Prius prob not last like this!
i have a 1988 pontiac six grand .has 355,000 on it .has the 2.5 liter iron duke in it . daily driver .i do pizza delivery with it about 200 km a day 5 days a week . pizza pizza bank and hunt club ottawa .car just refuses to die. i got this car from a old man for 500 dollars had 86,000 km on it in 2004. i maintain it to no end .i'm driven this car all the way out to 500,000 if i can .dealer say's it'll be antique in 2 years. partners power trading knows my number very well ...pontiac SIX GRRRAND
I really miss my '87. It was no powerhouse with an iron duke 4, but I got 172,000 good miles out of it. If the frame hadn't rusted to the point where it wouldn't pass PA inspection, I'd probably still be driving it. These cars were invincible in snow!
+Dave Bensonmum You lucked out on a decent one. Overall they were crap. Chevette was to cramped for a lot of folks and the Celebrity really was an embarrassment, especially with the trouble prone V-6. Speak badly? We wanted to own, but it was a closed end lease a 1983 Citation. All in all it was a reliable good car. It had the pretty good Iron Duke 4 not the crappy 2.8. Iron Duke would be past 60 without making a lot of noise. and the car would roll so easily at highway speeds. Citation was a very good idea from GM. To bad they screwed it up.
+toyoscio you are a nut my 84 conv runs like new and goes down the freeway at 75 smooth as silk and gets better mileage than most new cars as usual you are talking out of your ass
Yup! First car was a '88 Celebrity Eurosport 2.8. Couidn't kill it....was a dumb teen...never changed any fuels or filters in that car the whole 4 years I had it....had to sell for moving reasons....wish i had it back...had to be the best car I ever had...and I had many..I drive a 2012 Hyundai Sante Fe Limited..and would trade it in a second for my old Celebrity!!!
Nice Car! Great condition and beautiful paint--this shade of blue really brings out the conservative yet modern styling. This is much better than the BUBBLE car look that would soon follow. I have always loved edges and sharp lines.
Bought a 88 from the police auction in 2004 and although it was as ugly as shit from a car accident it was allways trustworthy and took me to work everyday
+toyoscio How can you like one but not the other? Only the body was different and not by a lot. The chassis was the same, engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension components, everything. That's like saying a Chevrolet pick up is better than a GMC lol Do you see what I'm getting at here?
+Dave Bensonmum True, they were similar, but Pontiac put more emphasis on their version of the A-body,with features like AWD,and sport suspension. Chevy tried to copy that to an extent with the Eurosport which was a laugher, LOL. Pontiac was the division I liked the most.
Same here. I had a 1986 Buick Century. Virtually the same car as this Chevy except my Buck was a two tone brown and tan. My Buick also had the 2.8 liter V6.
now i wish i never sold my 86 celeb to buy a jeep cherokee, but i needed a tow vehicle for my boat, oh well.! it was an old ladies car trade in at my chevrolet dealer, got it for 1200$
I have a 1986 olds cutlass ciera with the exact same engine it's a 2.8 Buick v6 with a Rochester varajet 2 barrel and I love it any info on the engine would be much appreciated
My dad got a '85 ciera from his step father, 10k on the odometer in June '88. Drove it a few times myself. 3 liter Buick T440 tranny, and was a Florida car. Very roomy. Too bad I couldn't take it back to Florida. Love the snow.
They were the original plates issued for it's initial registration in early 86. Then, after 25 years it can be registered in NY with historical registration and vintage plates.
@@WildBill236 you still have it? That's awesome if so, my Dad had one when we were little in the 1990s his was also an 86 looked just like yours except cloth interior and it was fuel injected 2.8 V6 grey on grey colors and same hubcaps was a nice car people always complimented him on it. I believe his manufacture date was in September of 85 on his.
@@matthybel955 Yessir still have it! Was my first car so kinda special. Has 53k miles now, ac still works, and replaced those hubcaps with 14" GM wire hubcaps and installed white-wall period correct tires. Only see a few hundred miles a year the last 5 years. Not fast by even 80s standards but its a smooth ride for a FWD
Nice nice, yeah those were nice cars especially 1986 and up till they were not made anymore! Liked the styling, I also liked the Tauruses too from that era all classics. It's a shame no one has pride in things like they did then, even cars back then had their own unique style and were proudly built here in the USA not all these plasticky, overpriced, China- Mexican made shitboxes of today lol
@@WildBill236 btw my Dad got the wired hubcaps for his 86 Celebrity too, but sadly never used them, the car started to rust bad so he never bothered putting them on, this was like in 1994ish then we moved so not sure what happened to them I was only 8 then. His for sure had the same stock hubcaps like yours that I know for a fact. His was grey on grey same styled interior except his was cloth with the vinyl middles. He took good care of it, but winters finally got to it damn rust belt . But hey if it makes anyone feel better the Celebrity lasted longer than the 1990 Aerostar van he bought in 93, by 96 that thing was a rotbox
If you would like to have a 1989 celebrity CL eurosport 2.8 in almost mint condition, I have one for sale it needs absolutely nothing. it has been garaged its entire life
