Today is my first day in Mumbai, India. Mumbai, also known as Bombay, is the 2nd largest city in India, after Delhi. Over 20 million people call Mumbai their home. In this video we will get some first impressions of Mumbai. Since I have just been to Delhi, India's capital, let's also compare Delhi and Mumbai/Bombay a bit. Which city will I like more? Mumbai is definetly better than Delhi, The moire south you go, the more cleaner it is and people are more friendly, it's more relaxed and the landscape is more beautiful. When you go to the south, please don't wear dark T-Shirts and only cotton, because of the sun, unless you like to be grilled.

I am from Mumbai and I stay in Mumbai and hence Mumbai is home and can never think of leaving this city. Delhi is a better place during winter season coupled with the Delhi food. Other South India cities like Bangalore-Mangalore and Kochi (Kerala) are beautiful cities with completely different character. You must visit them as well. India is very vast and every state is culturally and texturally different. The eastern India is a completely different place and especially Varanasi (The Ganges) is a place like you may have never witnessed. Please allow yourself ample time to explore India

Also Ken, Tuk Tuk is not a Indian term for the three wheel transport. In India and certainly in Mumbai it is called “auto rickshaw” “auto” or “rikshaa”. They only operate in Suburban mumbai from Bandra onwards to North Mumbai. Apart from aggregator run cab services, there are 2 more cab services that run by meter or can be pre-discussed before boarding. The yellow and black cabs ate without air-con while the blue-grey are cool cabs. Always compare cool cab ride cost with uber. Black and yellow cabs are cheaper than that. But, it matters more when you travel long distance from north to south mumbai during traffic hours.

24:44 you didn't even notice this beautiful building. It is the famous Taj Mahal Palace hotel founded by Jamshedji Tata(Tata Group), It is considered one of the finest hotels in the East. it has long history and heritage, you should read about Taj & Tata Group.

Hi Ken, couple of suggestions and tips. 1. You missed the CSMT station exterior facade by exiting from the other side. It's a UNESCO heritage building and a popular landmark. 2. You didn't notice the Taj Palace in front of Gateway. The market you visited was Colaba Causeway. 3. Tip - start walking away and they'll most probably agree to your price 4. All these people who come to foreigners for pictures are domestic tourists who come from small cities & villages usually for low paying jobs. 5. Go to Lower Parel, Worli to experience the skyline and Richie riches of Mumbai. 6. Go to BKC (Sandra Kurla Complex) to experience something similar to Cyber Hub Gurgaon which you really liked. 7. If you plan on coming to Hyderabad or Bangalore. Let me know.

In 10 years time Mumbai will become much more different because there is lot of infrastructure projects going on in Mumbai. Metro train expansion, Bullet train , new bridges , new coastal road etc.

Ken I have visited both Mumbai and Delhi and I prefer Mumbai way more than Delhi. Mumbai is pretty chilled out compared to Delhi and has lots of cool places to visit. People are pretty friendly. You do have slums there too and some areas with lots of trash so its got a lot of cool and uncool places to see. AQI is much cleaner in Mumbai.

Polio is a disease which was very widespread in India about 40-50 years ago. So the government ran a campaign to free india of the disease by spreading awareness and emphasiaing need for vaccination. Places to eat at in Mumbai: *1. Elco Pani puri - (area - Bandra west in Mumbai)* - One of the best Pani puris in town. Very clean & hygienic. They use bottled mineral water to make these. So very safe to eat Pani Puris at this place. *2. Sardar Pav Bhaaji - (area - Tardeo in Mumbai)* - The best and the most buttery Paav Bhaaji on Planet Earth. *3. Bade Miyan - Late night place - is open till 3 am or so (area - near Taj hotel & the Gate way of India in Mumbai)* A late night place, patrons eat in their cars, but has a seating area as well. Famous for their wraps, Tikkas, Tandooris & barbecued stuff. *4. Leopold Cafe (area - Colaba causeway in Mumbai)* - Nice beer, barbecues, nice desserts. *5. Pancham Puriwala - (area - fort in Mumbai)* - 5 types of puris(bread), savory dishes & desserts. *6. Persian Darbar - (area - Bandra west in Mumbai)* Famous for their Raan Biryani. Delicious Mughlai cuisine. You'll love it. *7. Mahesh Lunch home - (area - Juhu Tara road in Mumbai)* Heaven for Sea food lovers. Very clean & hygienic and you can get the most iconic sea food dishes here. *8. Mini Punjab's Lake side - (area Powai in Mumbai)* Need to call and book a thaali(platter) in advance. Famous for its Dara Singh Thaali - available in both veg & non-veg versions. A must try. *9. Britannia & co. restaurant - (area - Ballard estate, Fort in Mumbai)* Famous for its Irani / Parsi cuisine. Awesome Desserts & Sodas. *10. Anand Stall - (Vile Parle west in Mumbai)* A fast food joint famous for its awesome Vada Paav, Sandwiches & Dosas. *11. Mohammed Ali road - (Area - CST - 6 pm onwards till late night)* The whole street is filled with street vendors who sell various non-vegetarian stuff and some vegetarian too. Plus, there are some really nice restaurants on the same street. Try the famous dessert that you get only on this street in a sweet shop. The dessert is called Aflatoon.

I get that ken had to pay more. But sometimes I feel its fair for tourist with premium exchange rates to not haggle or pay a bit of premium as long as its not astronomical. These t-shirst from roadside unlike a mall shop are bought by middle/lower strata of Indian society, people earning in Indian. currency. For Ken or folks who earn in Euro/USD/GBP, India is one of the cheapest destinations that is of global repute. Trust me when I say this as I am an Indian who has lived, worked and travelled extensively across Europe. The exchange rate is crazy good and hence each time I am in India, I make sure that I overpay to street vendors or hardworking people that I am buying service/goods from.

It's pretty interesting seeing the metro systems in India as they didn't exist when I was in India twenty years ago!! I hope you enjoy India, it is my favourite country to backpack!! Try to visit the Tibetans in McLeod Ganj up in Himachal Pradesh and do the day hike to Triund! Very beautiful!! Happy Travels

Incorrect fake information. First underground metro system was started in india in the year 1984 at Kolkata city. Later delhi city metro was launched in the year 2000. As of till date in 2024, india has 561 miles distance metro railway network spread across 17 cities in pan india and it is growing in number for future. I wonder which place you have travelled in our country 2 decade ago. 🤔

Hi Ken, I did not mean to alarm you, just high lighting the historical significance of the place. The is another place in the Colaba area which was targeted - Leopold Cafe. This cafe is just a few minutes walk from the Taj Mahal Hotel. Do visit this cafe, enjoy a cold beer and decent food.

In case if yours time permits do try to these bucket 🪣 list destinations in Mumbai suburbs- dahanu ⛱️ beach, madh island, manori 🏝 island, Sanjay gandhi national park, sewri mangrove park, vasai fort, mahakali caves, kanheri caves, elephenta caves, global vipassana pagoda, sasoon dockyard, aarey colony, art deco buildings, Gilbert hill, Tulasi and virar lakes. 😊 😃

That germany jersey should not cost more than 4 dollars, also there's a place called Star Bazzar which is convenince store under the TATA Group, in one of the lanes near marine drive, a good place where u could have taken respite from the heat and bought some refreshments and the beach is further up ahead. A great first impression looking forward to more. PS. dont't expect the rest of Mumbai too look like what u saw on saturday, especially not the suburbs . Bandra West which is closer to the airport maybe a place to check out similar vibes to South Mumbai's Colaba and Fort areas. And please don't get ripped off by Taxi drivers

Hi man, your vlog was so fun to watch and a very warm welcome to Mumbai, I am a local here and would just want to give one tip, that in Mumbai you never ever ask a auto or a taxi driver how much, you should always ask the driver to go by meter, Mumbai has a official metre system in autos and taxis which is applicable pan Mumbai, if any auto or taxi driver in Mumbai ask you go to go with out meter than that's a crime and you can file a complaint against them, never travel without going by meter in future in Mumbai, lots of love!

11:41 This is the way in rush hours people used to get down from train while its on slow move. This is to avoid the incoming rush of new people boarding where, one has to manage all show of exit and entry within available time of few seconds! In rush hours you will be unable to stand in the entry/exit ways due to high rush. Hence take care about that in Mumbai, especially your gadgets or cam. Sometimes you will be gushed out on station even if you dont have to get down if you are in the way of rush. Hope by this time you have got that formula fit into your observations!!

The buildings across the ocean on Marine drive are super expensive, residential buildings..I am guessing small flats that are more expensive than New York, Munich or Hamburg . Few people can afford south Mumbai.. most businesses have moved north to Bandra, Andheri etc..

If you really want to experience the diversity of India you should definitely visit abit offbit locations of India, like Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh or Jammu and Kashmir, Darjeeling etc. Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan, Varanasi are just chaos and over hyped.
