Any day now and they will have another round of funding keep the faith brother. I hear they are going to release the Aptera coin on Web 3 soon so you can own a part of the company.
there is so much potential with this design and form factor. plenty of leg room and plenty of storage space. great option for everyday commute. the only issue is the doors which could cause problems in tight parking spaces. that's the only thing keeping it from being a perfect everyday car alternative. or it could just leave the passenger in the street and autopilot into the parking spot(if it gets autopilot)😜
Duuuude..... Awesome! You hit the nail with this video! Thank you sooo muuuch!!!!!! I have a reservation since some time ago, I just wait to have my own.
That thing is wild...as i expected. You are my height so this really puts the interior space into persepctive. Im really rooting for this thing. Have been following for years now. Its going to be really sick to see this spaceship on the road
Thanks for doing this video. I have a reservation and was a bit concerned after experiencing the VR version of the car. It seemed small and visibility wasn’t good in it, but I think the scale was off in the VR render. Can’t wait to see people’s reviews of the launch edition. I’m going to wait for the longest range version. Hopefully they will include a heated steering wheel by then, I currently use one almost all the time. Maybe you could request one for me 😉👍😁.
You two are awesome and i always look forward for your videos, they are full of great information, today’s video was amazing and a delight to watch, thank you for your time

I am in Europe. We have plenty small cars. But we lack super efficiant cars. The Aptera would become my daily driver. Is the passenger Seat easy removable? I would place my Great Dane there then.
Looks great. The future of mobility (e) needs to be small and aerodynamic. Huge vehicles with large lithium batteries are dumb for everyday use. Let's hope Americans realize this before we get too far. I love my e-bike.
Love the “concept”. And I have been on the waiting list for a long time. But until they are rolling off the production line and purchased by customers, it does not exist. It is not an option. I feel like this is the CyberTruck all over again. Every year the release date pushes another year. The other big problem is going to be the price. How can I justify buying the Aptera when I could get a four wheel refreshed model 3 which will qualify for $7,500 discount at point of sale starting 1/1/2024? Plus some state discounts. Are people really going to spend more for an aptera then a brand new refreshed Tesla Model 3? Heck the Model 2 might be out before Aptera is shipping. Not yo mention all the other car companies about to flood market with EVs that qualify for $7,500 tax break at point of sale. Don’t get me wrong I love the Aptera concept car. If I could buy one in the next 6 months I might. But cost and delivery delays may come back to bite their sales. I know start up capital is hard to come by these days and has slowed the release. I just hope they can recognize how important time to market is right now. Tesla and others are gobbling up market share now.
Tesla and others do not have any vehicles that fill the niche that Aptera occupies, and it is a much larger niche than Aptera themselves expected. They are closing in on 50,000 pre-orders and most people have not even heard of it yet.. My wife and I have ridden in a prototype, and we know that once people start experiencing the production versions in person that demand is going to explode.
@@plop31 How many families of 4 have only 1 car? My wife and I rarely take both our children to the same place. (Life would be a lot simpler if they played the same sports, and had the same interests. But they don't). One 2 seater in the fam wouldn't hurt at all.
Drew has a little trouble containing his enthusiasm. It’s great watching a review by someone who already knows so much about the Aptera but is seeing it for the first time. Looking forward to the interview! (Not to mention MY first ride in an Aptera!)
He was told to act excited. What would you do if you knew you weren't getting your deposit back and that the only snowball's chance of getting an Aptera is to shill for it as hard as possible?
@@killr0yit might be hard for you to believe, but the people who put deposits in ahead of time were already passionate about the vehicles. They seem to be going really smoothly with production anyway, so not sure what you’re complaining aboht
@@killr0yTroll. Were you there to witness what you claim. I suspect not. You’re just making stuff up. And why should I place any… any credence in your ability to predict the future. Go buy a lottery ticket.
@@killr0y Everyone's deposits are held in escrow and can be requested to be returned at any time. Aptera does not have access to the deposit money until the vehicle is delivered. Stop using your imagination, and do some due diligence regarding actual facts.
It's more known then you think and the company continues to get more press and exposure. Tesla went through the same thing, and they still don't even do advertising.
It doesn't exist till it ships to customers. It sure feels close to existing. It's the supercar of efficiency. Carbon fiber tub, the look, it's quick, with efficiency between an e-bike and a Model 3 unless it's sunny, and you don't drive far...
Yes! I have been waiting for this video release! Note the cyber truck is about to be delivered, yet how few people have driven or been inside it, and yet Aptera invites the world to test out their alpha, beta and gamma vehicles, or sit inside and shares every update.
I like your critique. No recycled bs or cliches. A review one can trust. Remarks on issues many of us Aptera fans and investors wonder about. Like turning radius, seats and headrests, ac around the display, no need for exterior mirrors because of great displays. And being tested by a Tesla expert, it gives me lots of confidence. Thank you.
It's interesting what you were saying about the back wheel in turns.no curb rashing here.better visability from side windows too. Nissan Leaf really bad for visability there.still a great car tho...
Aptera fans care about the vehicle, Aptera investors should care much more about the business model/business case. Unfortunately Aptera has a problem with the latter: to make this vehicle at a reasonable price and at a reasonable profit they will have to scale it to a point where supply will outstrip demand. That means that no serious investor will bankroll the ramp because, simply put, it isn't realistic. Even if it were realistic it is notoriously difficult to ramp a new product as expensive and complex as an automobile, even when the demand would actually match supply at a market clearing price. Hats off to them for getting a prototype to this level but I seriously doubt that this gets to production and stays there.
@@MrGamelover23 people were already driving cars when Henry Ford introduced his revolutionary production line based manufacturing process. Aptera is not in a comparable position to Ford, that's a false equivalence. Production costs for Aptera are higher on a per unit basis than their proposed selling price. The only way to reduce those costs is to scale but scaling requires a demand much higher than that which exists for their vehicle. It is a 2 seat, 3 wheeler - it might be a great vehicle but it does not have the demand. On the subject of the carbon fibre body, are they going to have them all made in Italy and shipped over to the US? That's crazy. Are they going to set up a factory to mass produce carbon fibre bodies in the US? Check out how BMW got on with the carbon body on the i3.
Drew, Of all the folks to make videos of the Aptera, I related to yours the best. It's OK with me that you're so into it. I'm also a believer, a fan, and can't wait to get mine. I appreciate the comparison to the Tesla Model 3. I can't wait to see your interview with Chris Anthony and Jason Hill. Thanks so much!
Please do not put black tape over the copper of solar tiles if it’s not for a functional reason! Like the Apteras body itself seeing solar panels in action is a strong statement. ❤
haha. It never will. Not enough profit on each one to sustain a company. If they were available, everybody would buy one, leaving conventional cars in oblivion.
@@edwardgabriel5281 No, if that were the case, they would just raise the purchase price till it matches their need. People would be buying this car even if it was 2X as much$$.
So interesting getting to see all of the features up close. Makes me want to preorder one. I’m 6’3” too so it was great seeing a taller guy sit in it confidently.
We all need this, for the best of our future. Efficient, solar, comfortable, fun and everything we need on a daily basis. Big SUVs have their own utility, but most probably don't need it more than 10% of the time. This will be the preferred mode if you drive anything under 50 miles and don't need more than 2 seats for works or errands. Glad I am part of the mission with my reservation. Best wishes!
yeah, right, let's not have hobbies that require materials, stuff and so....let's pretend we all want to live like you in the future. Let's also imagine that we don't need to haul more than two people, because, you know, families in general and children specifically suck and are climate murderers.
And this version (apart from updated solar) is basically 18 months of improvements out of date. Pi will be another leap in quality. Cfsmc body, updated hatch, bunk, pants, interior etc are great stuff.
@@ipadbossbaby4558 It still weighs 2,000 pounds. If you have any experience with solar panels you know 700 watts can barely power a refrigerator let alone a 2,000 pound vehicle for 40 miles. Its a lie.
Except for one small thing: being classified as a three-wheeled motorcycle means crash test standards for cars don’t apply. I doubt the Aptera (or its passengers) would fair very well in a collision with anything bigger than Fiat 500.
Wow. If I say much more I'll put my foot in my mouth but... I'm already a reservation holder and a bit more. I felt like I was there with you. That was incredible! I'm more sold on Aptera than I was before (and I already believed in the Aptera mission 100%.)
Great job here Drew. Your first impressions are genuine and unfiltered. We appreciate the input of your wife and uncle also, particularly because they nearly represent each end of the size spectrum. It pumps me up to see how much you're liking the vehicle and what you're seeing for the first time. Thank you Aptera for being so open during your development, we love what you are doing, and thank you Drew for bringing this to all of us!!
I've been following the Aptera project for some time now. It is to me one of the most exciting takes on electrifying personal transportation. The cybertruck is awful in every way.
Great review. I have watched a lot of Aptera videos and you provided two insights that I have never heard before; the driving/steering wheel center and the rear wheel curb rash! I enjoyed watching your reaction driving and could feel the excitement. It was awesome, imaged myself driving and feeling that same excitement! As an Accelerator Investor, hoping to have this vehicle by the end of next summer!
So Jelly! Makes want to increase my investment to be able to get one sooner.... I really liked your review and your experience in checking everything out. It was filled with great comparisons and descriptions to give us a real sense of what you were experiencing. Thanks!
This is one of the best Aptera videos I’ve seen since I learned about the car. Great job. Knowing it’s only a prototype, how quiet it was inside at speed with the windows up?
This one was a little louder than my Model 3 but it's body is made out of a completely different material than the production model which will have an effect on the noise so I didn't think it was worth commenting on
How would you know how a production model is if it doesn't exist and by that what does that tell me about the prospective production date? I mean I love this car and I hope it comes to market so I could get one at some point in the future but let's be real.@@TailosiveEV
Love your enthusiasm for all that you’ve reviewed. I do have reservation and I invested in this company. I had a reservation for the cybertruck, but canceled it. The is more practical for me and my wife. I’m a family of 6. Kids are grown up. Now time for adventure with the wife. Have a van, if the family wants to come along.🙄😂👍🏻
Drew, I am so glad to see your excitement. My wife and I rode in an alpha prototype in November of 2021, and the progress has been astounding. Even the gamma, which was once going to be quite similar to the production intent builds has fallen fall short of what is going to be delivered! My wife and I placed the 42nd order Aptera got - for a Paradigm edition.
@@bluetoad2668 No - investments and pre-order fees are separate categories. Pre-orders are fully refundable on request. Investments are at risk and may or may not become liquid at a future date.
as someone who has also ridden in gamma I can relate to your excitement . I too was floored by everything about aptera, it's truly a groundbreaking vehicle. the latest renders of the PI build seem to show that even gamma will look like yesterdays news in comparison, which is saying ALOT, since gamma is extremely impressive. one can't FULLY appreciate aptera until you see it in person, this vehicle is going to be sooooooooooooo EPIC!! our wait for our LE accelerator is going to be soooooooooo looong!!! Jerry & Helen M.
Exactly. My wife, Judy and I rode in the Alpha Luna in 2021, and even then it was more refined and had higher performance than a Kelmark GT kit car I once owned. I was expecting something with that level of fit and finish. The PI builds will be like going from a kit car to a supercar. The "delay" if you will, will have been WELL worth it for the increase in quality.
Great job with a down to earth first live viewing and drive! Can’t wait for this vehicle. Even with a decent daily commute, it may never need to be plugged in. Even more excited about my reservation.
Like your uncle Todd, I am also... 1.) 6 foot tall plus a couple inches to spare. 2.) I dreamed of similar futuristic cars when I was reading Sunday comics as a boy. 3.) my favorite car growing up in high school was the Datsun 240Z-- which was also considered "futuristic" back in the '70s as well. So glad you included your uncle Todd in this vid.
I love this car. Definitely the way EVs and maybe even petrol cars should be moving. I do obviously like and sometimes need more space but this car is perfect for 95% of car trips. The fact is charges with the sun is just amazing, which I'd consider giving up extra space for. My only downside I have is that it isn't at least a 3 seater
IIRC, They said in one video awhile back that there were plans to elongate it and give it 2nd row of seats. But they wanted the proof of concept and narrow focus to just get it out there first, I imagine. Maybe someone can link the video i'm talking about for us.
I forget the number but the number of people on the roads with anything other than just one person riding in a car truck is super low. No point in heavily reducing efficiency for a scenario that is rather rare.
@@abrahamsanchez7331 you seriously think that's the way people reason when they buy a vehicle? This car is a 2 seat 3 wheeler which costs not much less than a 4/5 seat , 4 wheeler - demand will be smaller than required to make a profit. Take a look at Arcimoto, they also make 2 seater 3 wheeled EVs and suffered a similar demand problem.
if it gets reliable, quiet&comfortable and ready for EU rules I will be buying one (I have a reservation) Everybody would freakout if I drove one of these and it's the only EV out there that's more efficient than my old Ioniq.
This vehicle is more important than the Cybertruck. When Apetera starts full production they will sell everyone they make. This is what we need, an affordable, easy-to-maintain, and enjoyable vehicle we all can buy.
I can't wait for people to start discussing aero stats like we understand mpg. Aptera is *very* aerodynamic. Miles to watt hour is also *very* good as well.
@@paulas_lens "Aero Stats" have been discussed in "car culture" dialogue for quite awhile but the folks involved in the conversation are mostly more on the "techie" side of the population. I still have a Jay Leno review of the older version that was around back in the 2020-2021 period. I'm pleased to see it returning. I know that introducing a new product is a difficult, stressful process. It's easy to sit on the sidelines (online) at try to pick holes in a new introduction and it just shows the cynical attitude that prevails online. For an urban, short trip vehicle, this looks to be perfect. I don't know how durable it might be though. Careful, cautious driving isn't that common around most cities. I hope it survives.
I actually interviewed with the company. I'm a 8 yr EV tech with cars many people speak highly from and on and I am genuinely excited to see this puppy on the road. Efficiency and modularity is key moving forward for ECO consumption reasons and this really has a lot going for it beyond hype.
I really love the stark display of the spedo on my 07 Prius, because it is as far forward as possible under the windshield. This is a feature I would like to see widely adopted. When one is driving down the road, close up displays make no sense at all for ease on the eyes. Young people may not notice, but older people sure will.
The Gamma was the original design production intent vehicle. That interesting material you rubbed is Kevlar in a polyurethane matrix that comes in sheets and is moldable. It forms a tunnel that is structural and would keep the front and rear suspension in sync. So to speak. But they found a way to really mass produce with a new process that the cybertruck and Toyota is using in some of its new trucks beds. SMC! But Aptera may be the first one to bring a safety cell to the masses. Along with an elegant platform for the batteries, crush cans and suspension. I am glad to hear your uncles comparison to the 240. I had a 280ZX 2+2 turbo. I was a good road car. A little light in the rear and a 5th gear that had no legal use. Your audio really picked up the motor sound nicely.
Perfect dialogue to end the vid; Drew: "I've got so many questions." Chris A. "We've got answers." Aptera's new tagline could be; "Aptera is the answer. What's your question?" Already looking forward to your interview w/ the braintrust at Aptera. Keep up the great work Tailosive.
