Watching the market's ups and downs shows how quickly things can change. In the market, strategic, informed trading isn't a choice; it's a must. Remember, caution is as crucial as ambition here. This dedication to continuous learning is inspiring...i have delve deeply into active trading which is generally safer, allowing investors to weather market volatility... I'm especially grateful to Loraine Souvenir tactics and strategies…

Nice to see this here. A lot of folks downplay the role of advisors until they’re burned by their own emotions-no offense. I remember last year, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, so I researched licensed advisors and thankfully came across Loraine. She’s helped grow my reserve, despite inflation, from $152k to nearly a 7-figure sum as of today..Her insights and daily siignals are worth following.

I agree on LNG being a pretty safe long term play. With Russia out of action for at least 5 years their business should boom and they are not so vulnerable to cyclical nature of NG prices. I like BC but profit margins are thin and there isn't a durable moat.

Russia's is allost all pipeline gas (before 2022 80% to Europe, rest to Asia), LNG exports are very litte (due to a lack of enpugh LNG facilities). Even if thete's a ceasefire or peace agreement, who's going to invest in Russia? Western companies? I don''t think so 'cause they got their as#@# kicked in 2022 by the Russian government when they seized foreign assets without compensation. China? Altough they have their so-called "unlimited partnership" FDI into Russia has almost dried up since summer 2022 and the lack of interest in the "Power of Sibetia 2" gas pipeline is quite telling (or maybe just remember how Russia tried to blackmail the EU by stoping to deliver gas, a futile try that failed terribly), Russia? Welfare Fund is running low and without Western parts and equipment it's almost impossible to build a new LNG plant. My conclusion: RUussia is out of the (high volume) gas business for good and must be happy if the oil industry is going the "Venezuelan journey" as well. It's quite embsrassing to see how such a large and commofdities-rich country accomplished very little compared to their western neighbours during the last two centuries

Furthermore, with respect to housing, I live in Ontario where the housing market has taken a deep dive. Prices in many areas are down 20-25% (including my city), housing sales are at multi-decade lows, and inventory is building. I am also close friends with 2 developers in London, Ontario. They are building NOTHING. They can't even sell all the homes they finished last year. In order to sell, they need to drop the price below cost. It's gotten so bad that one of the developers has pivoted to doing renovation projects. The fact is that developers can't build houses at a low enough cost to meet demand. The developers that I've spoken to don't see this changing anytime soon.

You don't need a thesis that population growth leads to GDP growth. It's econ 101 GDP= Consumer spending + Investment+ government spending+ net exports. More population leads to higher consumer spending. However, with immigration will likely be lower GDP per Capita, why would this lead to a multiple expansion. Most countries trade at a discount to the US. Consumer Staples grow as the population grows. Terry Smith writes about that. Wouldn't it be better to bet on an emerging country that has an expanding middle class. It is more likely in India spending will increase per person while in Canada it could actually fall as they bring in lower skilled immigrants
@nickslothouber1777
@nickslothouber1777 24 дня назад
Perhaps this doesn't affect Bird Construction, since they seem to geared more toward industrial and infrastructure projects. That being said, I WOULD NOT base your thesis on the Canadian economy performing well. Real estate and construction make up over 20% of Canadian GDP. What happens if these industries perform poorly for the next 10 years? My base case is that Canada will go through a deep deleveraging cycle (it's already started, I believe), similar to what the U.S. experienced in the Great Financial Crisis. At the very least, Canadians do not have enough $$ to consume houses or other big ticket items.

Is Bird Construction on the hook for cost overruns and sub-contractors going bust? In the UK, Galliford Try has done well since concentrating on projects like schools and hospitals, small enough that if a project goes badly, it's not too serious for the company. There's also less chance of a project like building a school having a big unusual problem, especially when they've built plenty of them before. That's just for info, the stock isn't cheap and I expect there's plenty of competition and no moat.

Very interesting video! I feel like these companies are both on the 'too hard to understand' pile for me but i definitely enjoy you talking about it. During the video I was wondering what the legalities around building nuclear power plants are. I agree with you that it's a growing market which will probably create opportunities. But I worry about the trend that pretty much every nuclear power plant takes way more time to build than expected and costs way more money than anticipated. Does the company have to cover the extra costs? Or are these costs on the government? Seems like something that could create some messy situations. Do you look in to these things when researching a company like this?

Isn't LNG a commodity stock? It's hard to find some metrics that quality investors like when there is no pricing power due to commodity pricing/differentiation and lack of market power. If there are two forever stocks it would be a company in a non competitive market like Visa/Amazon, or pricing power like FICO. Lng is a good company, you don't have to create a strawman like going to 0 or that it's very risky, it isn't. It also isn't one of the best 5 to 10 stocks you would want to buy and hold forever.

I'm not sure what country you are talking about, but it's not Canada. First off, yes, Canadian GDP has stayed positive on account of immigration -- however, GDP per capita has been flat since 2017 and was negative in 2023. Without rampant immigration in the last 2 years (~1.2 million permanent and non-permanent residents per year), Canada would already be in a deep recession. Individuals in Canada are getting poorer year-by-year, and they are amongst the most highly levered in the world. Unless interest rates return to 0% and Canadian banks are willing to go on a wild lending spree again, this doesn't bode well for future consumption. Also, what makes you confident that immigration will remain at these levels? If you follow Canadian politics, you would know that there is a Federal election next year, and one of the big sticking points is immigration and its affect on rent prices. If elected, the Conservative government is likely to put hard caps on immigration (particularly non-permanent residents).

@@stnln2180 We're talking about immigration. You obviously can't compare Canada's economy with the U.S. The GDP of California alone is larger that of some countries. What's important to understand is that Canada's immigration policy is intentionally designed to attract skilled wokers due to the country's aging population and low birth rate. The lack of skilled labor hurts a nation's economy. It's a huge problem in Japan. In other words, legal immigration is a good thing for Canada. While the U.S. immigration policy also attracts educated/skilled workers, they also have an ongoing humanitarian crisis at the border. You have thousands of people trying to enter U.S. illegally from all over the world, many of whom add to the burden of the country's limited resources.
