I did new brakes and rotors for under $800. I went with EBC brakes and rear rotors and Stoptech front rotors. They work quite well!

I bought my 2016 SQ5 a month ago with 24k miles. Absolutely love it, but just dropped it off at the dealer with what sounds like an idler pulley or water pump about to fail. It also has a strong smell of antifreeze although the coolant level hasn’t dropped from what I can tell. Otherwise I’m in love with this car. Just installed a stealth hitch for a bike hitch and the bumper came off without too much trouble. I’m driving a loaner 2017 Q7 and the sq5 is so much better.

IgnitionTube initially there was a sound similar to a bird chirping. It turned into a metallic rubbing. I confirmed it today with a local shop. Definitely one of the pulleys failing. The antifreeze smell is still a mystery. The coolant level has remained consistent, but I’ve smelled it almost every time after I drive. Will see what the dealer finds.

Get the blendmount for sure. I have a 2015 SQ5 (love it) and the Blendmount is hassle free, looks slick, silent, no issues. Pigtail right into the rear view mirror wiring and you are done.

I’ve got the Max 360, suctions great no problems. I dropped it straight dirt washed it, lubed it back up with some spit, heated up the windshield and stuck her on there. I’ve had no problems since, able to take it off and reposition. No rattling no nothing. Highly recommend 👌

The SQ5/Q5 platform needs to have their sunroof seals lubricated every other service as per the service requirement in order to prevent rattles. Panoramic sunroof assembly claim(s) may have been kicked back from warranty claim, I’d be interested in finding out via that dealership’s warranty administrator. I worked for Audi for 15 years so am familiar with the procedures.

My roof rattled a bit when new and they fixed it, no replacement... 80k miles later no issues except for a water pump leak at 55k

Have you thought about keeping the carbon buildup under control? I’ve been using CRC intake / valve cleaner, twice a year. Spray it into the intake after the MAF sensor. You’ll need someone to keep the throttle at 2k rpm. I have a 16 sq5, first thing I did was tint the sunroof with 5% tint. That mesh during sunny days was giving me a headache. I had sunroof issues too. The dealer replaced it after 2 unsuccessful repairs.

An FYI for those with S/Q5s with the pano-roof: if it is rattling/creaking, you can bring it in and have Audi re-grease the rails, which should take care of it for a while. I usually have it done when in for its scheduled service, and the dealer usually does it at no cost. Audi actually has a service bulletin out for this specific issue.

Radar detector mount that came with my Valentine One is 👌🏼, idk what other models/brands it fits...but I've also had INCREDIBLE luck with this detector

Valentine also sells a mirror mount....I'm sure if you know what to look for, you can find something like that for various makes/models

One thing to note on the pano sun roof is that you can close that shade and have the roof open still. Use lots in the summer.

My sunroof also has a rattle! Not sure if it's worth replacing it and running the risk of something leaking. How do you know if the cat is packing up??

I have a ‘19 SQ5 and use it as my daily driver. I have a three year old daughter. We’ve gone on two rod trips over 2k miles and it’s been amazing. I love the WiFi so that my daughter’s iPad stays connected. Plenty of space for the three of us.

You have to shove a folded piece of paper in between the radar detector and the mount where it slides on. No more rattling when using the Escort Sticky cup.

When your SQ5 was on stock suspension, how was ride quality going over cracks and road imperfections compared to the S4? I have driven a 2019 Q7 and was surprised how firm the ride was as it didn't float over bumps. Also rode in a previous generation Q7 Uber, the ride was also surprisingly rough.

How's the cabin space been for you and your family? Between my wife (5'10), daughter, and I (5'10), space is a little tight but we get by. I might look into a different convertible rear seat

Peace of mind mostly. If i discovers anything wrong in the first few weeks, it was easy to get remedied. Ended up paying for itself with the 2x sunroof replacement

How did you know your cats where going bad? I'm on my second S4 first had 182,000 miles. How did you know your motor mounts where bad? Besides wheel bearings I had nothing wrong with mine.

@@mikaelsanchez7258 I purchased 13 s4 with 31,000. Tuned it with an APR tune at 49,000. Oil changes every 6,000 miles, DSG fluid change every 30,000 miles, new spark plugs at 129,000. That's why I purchased another 16 s4 with 27,000.

Same issue with my sunroof. Hated the stock 21s on Boston roads. Overall, great car. Similar power mods to yours. Ive put about 50k on mine, bought CPO as well

Biggest difference is the lack of options as far as product manufacturers. Even though it’s the same engine you cannot use a S4 sir intake or exhaust on a SQ5.

Wow, that's a lot of repair work on your S4. I've owned BMWs for the last 20 years and figured BMW was unusually bad with this, but it sounds like with motor mounts, amps failing, cats (!!) and sunroof frame issues, your S4 sounded bad, too. Just disappointing build quality all around from the Euro cars.
