I have struggled with my hairline for years, ever since a so called licensed "stylist" had knowingly applied a terrible brand relaxer that was on recall from the manufacturers to my and her clients hair. Now that I'm natural, I find that my hairline is easy to break off. If it gets too dry, if I use the wrong type of bonnet to sleep in or scarf, then POOF, the edges will easily break off! I have to be very careful. A few years ago, when I noticed loads of sisters and some brothers using edge controls and gels and gasp, Got2b glue gel to create those ocean waves and roller coaster designs to the hair at their hairline, I could only see the long term damage that doing such techniques would do to my hair and I happily chose not to jump on the "Swirly Edges" bandwagon. I do tame my edges but I just simply lay them down, I don't swirl or try to "wave" them. I cringe when I see folks slicking all their hair down and then take a comb and actually pull some hair from hairline out of their already slick hairdo so they can "do their baby hairs".
