You can reduce the chances of it happening with proper maintenance and knowing what you're doing but the more power you're making the higher the chances of spinning a bearing, blowing a hole in the block, blowing through a gasket etc. etc. That's just the nature of the beast. If you want it reliable then buy a cheap stock yoda rolla...but it will also be boring and soul destroying If you want to have fun you do this...but it will cost you an arm and a leg and leave you on the side of the highway every now and again. That's why I always have at least 2 cars on the go.

The cost would be a free visit to a local FCA dealership, but she added aftermarket parts that broke it. She should of left it stock.

at least 2300 for the blower setup and that is a factory ported. Not to mention man hours for a mechanic beeing about 150 and hour.

Best way to buy a Bimmer is to save up the cost to buy a new one, then buy a depreciated one used stick the rest in the bank and use it as a trust fund to pay for the maintenance...this is coming from someone with 4 Bimmers in the driveway.

You'll still come out ahead buying 2 335is instead of one new Honda Civic and the Bimmer will blow the doors off many supercars if set up correctly while the Civic won't. In short the Bimmer is capable of things the reliable cars aren't when it is working so if that's what you want it for then it's the obvious choice...if the reliable slow car does everything you want it to then there aren't many good reasons to buy the Bimmer.

She put a smaller pully on the blower, made is spin 4000 to 5000 rpms faster than designed. Blower bearing failed and the rotors crashed into each other. Its not a design error....its an operator / tuner error.

The shop owner fast talked her and made it feel like it's the model when it isn't. My think is ....the car has 700hp out of the gate why touch it and void your warranty like she did?

It's doubtful the supercharger would have ever failed at all if she did not have the car modded. I noticed how the mechanic tried to cover his backside for screwing up the car by saying that the superchargers have a known 1% failure rate because they're mass-produced. What he neglected to mention is that a 1% engine/powertrain failure rate is the universally accepted norm across the entire automotive industry. For the sake of comparison, the accepted failure rate for the also mass-produced jet engines that power the Boeing 777 hovers around 1% as well. So what it boils down to is if the mechanic hadn't broken the car in the first place performing those useless trash mods, and she had instead chosen to leave the car factory stock and followed Dodge's recommended service and maintenance intervals, the odds are overwhelmingly in favor of the supercharger lasting the car's lifetime without experiencing a failure.
