If you want your EDC gear to be made in the USA without any guesswork, then check out: www.EDCSpecialties.com Their monthly box club is an awesome value and supports American manufacturing & an American company that I helped to start. What is your EDC looking like these days? Any thing you feel is a "must have" that I didn't represent?
I am to late for magic to read this but when you go to fill the Zippo there's a hard felt that the hole is in, pull that back and drop a extra Flint there where the cotton is, it will come in handy!
The butane inserts for the zippos is much more useful, I love zippos but they were always evaporated when I went to use it so I gave up on them. Oh and fuel always leaked no matter what I did
I have several Zippos that I have aquired over decades, and love them. The biggest problem with them is they are not a sealed unit, and bleed off the fuel inside. So for EDC a Bic is my go to as I am a smoker. Good job on starting an American based company that sells only made in the US products! BTW, "Your butt is lit up" LOL. I keep my light in my left cargo pocket with my Leatherman so when I sit or bend, it isn't very uncomfortable.
Haha these things just happen you know? I am proud of EDC Specialties and I wish the best for Rob and the rest of those guys as it is a good concept to promote American products.
@@mrspin3315 If the frame of the lighter get tweaked just one little bit it bleeds the fuel. I have many different ones, even the skinny ones still bleed/evaporate the fuel. Then the lighter is dead.
My EDC: Glock 19 in Trex Arms Sidecar, Streamlight Protac 1L-1AA, Leatherman Super Tool 300, 5.11 1.5” TDU Belt, and Timex Weekender. I’m an industrial mechanic so I’m rough on my EDC. I like that everything is affordable, in case I lose or break, but still tough. Streamlight is used the most, usually clipped to the brim of my hat.
I carry a 10 mm wrench, a small crescent wrench, P38 can opener, bottle opener, a waterproof rechargeable streamline flashlight, a small pocket screwdriver, an air chuck, spark plug gaper, ink pen, razor knife, leatherman bolster, belt, wallet with a wallet ninga in it, keys, money (never in my wallet), and lighter. Friends always say I will drown if I fall in lake.
WE WERE AMAZED at the LACK of EMERGENCY KITS that modern folks exhibit ! "Back in the day", everyone carried an emergency kit in their car or truck: blanket, tools, jumper cables, tire repair kit, first aid kit, and maps. NOW, many people don't even have a spare tire - the car makers have made that item an "extra" ! HOWEVER, those same people DON'T even carry PERSONAL emergency items - to help them survive if they're "stuck" overnight or have to walk home !
Just a thought you may not have thought of about only carrying a Zippo for your main source of fire. A Zippo literally lasts the butane in a Zippo will dry up in less than 2 weeks if it just sits there, quicker if your using it often. Butane, flints, wicks, all just more you’ll need to carry with you and finger crossed they don’t all get wore out quick. Disposable Bic lighters actually last a really long time and will keep lighting even if it gets wet once dried. Just a thought. I actually carry both a Zippo and a Bic because I like being able to have a lighter that will give you a constant flame after it’s lit for other useful purposes. Good video, thanks for sharing.
I have had the Garmin instinct for about 2 months (bday gift) and I love it. I came from a touch screen forerunner 640 and it is a learning curve but it is so much more capable. A recommended watch, expensive, but if you do a lot of outdoor activities this is a great watch in addition to a gps unit.
I carry a Kershaw knife for using everyday as a tool. Has held up well through the years. Also carry another knife too. Benchmark Osbourn Axis for gun free areas where I can't carry my CC.
Compressed gauze is pretty important to have for packing wounds... I carry that with the tourniquet. There's good stuff in a small package that is made with blood clotting material, I believe mine is made by NAR. Fits will in my pocket and will easily fit in the tourniquet you have in this video. Just an idea. Also, many Kershaw knives are not American made, sadly... I do like their knives quite a bit. Here's a list I found of Kershaw knives I found that are, in fact, American made: the Leek, Scallion, Chive, Blur, Whilwind, and Launch are all made in USA. Hope that helps.
I think that sometimes we are too quick to pull the trigger on made in America stuff. I get it, a lot of it is quality stuff and yeah we'd rather keep dollars inside, but let's not shy away from quality stuff made elsewhere. After all, this is stuff we use all the time and would like to think we can stake our lives on it if we had to. It's such a long journey with unlimited options and things to learn. Mistskes will be made, but don't be too prideful to correct those mistakes. Thanks for the video. And I honestly don't know how you guys put up with appendix carry, I hate it lol. Yes i know it's consensus the "best" carry position, but like anything, with training comes perfection. Dry fire brings those timings down to 1/10 of a second difference.
Yea trust me there are some other great things worth buying from overseas. Aimpoint for example. And yes, I had to suffer through appendix carry at first but you get used to it. The right holster and belt made a huge difference.
SHALOM.... SO GREAT TO SEE Y'ALL'S CHANNEL TODAY FROM BLOODY HARLAN KY. BLESS U AND FAMILY. THIS IS THE GREATEST ENTERTAINMENTING SHOW ON RU-vid. 🛡🇺🇸🌟📜🌟🇺🇸🛡
@basher2209 until you need it for your family, perhaps, doc. It's not just bullets that we worry about. Mayne, God forbid your child suffers a catastrophic accident to a limb that results in massive hemmorage. Or you witness a horrible accident while you're in your POV. There's numerous reasons why a TQ is a necessary EDC but if I need to explain this, presumably an EM trained ED doc, then, we have bigger issues.
@@LKS-1976 A tourniquet is so easily improvised, carrying one is ridiculous. I can think of a thousand items more useful for the size and weight. The fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a chance that I would need one and somehow be too stupid to improvise one is not worth it. I assume you walk around with a life vest on too? It could flood, you know. The chances of needing that, I’m sure, are just the same. I keep one in my truck. Stuffed in your pocket next to some sweaty 4x4 gauze is stupid. I assume you’re the kind of medic that slaps a TQ on a paper cut.
I have the pdp aswell and love it. Also did same with the sights and works great. Alot of hype on the pdp and guess what? Believe it all lol , it's a great pistol!!! Stay prepped
I use to carry a Zippo all the time. Until I learned when they get wet your done for. A Bic can be dried out fairly quickly. If your in a bad situation and your zippo gets wet and you need to light something it won't work for days. So I switched back to a BIC or a Djeep lighter, the Djeep lighters are Bic on steroids in my opinion. I also use the titanlight from Exotac but always have a Bic or Djeep. Just my input MP, if your going to carry a Zippo I'd keep a Bic also with your gear
@@laurineil-morin3792 great idea. I love zippos but the function of a Bic style lighter is almost a must have even if it's included with the Zippo. Just my opinion
@@MagicPrepper some light rain or even some light dampness I don't think will do it. But if the lighter were to be submerged in water and or get really coated in water it will stop working. The cotton and wick fill with water and then has to be dried out completely then refilled to start working again. A Bic can get submerged and just be struck a dozen times or so and Is back up and running. I'd keep running the Zippo and just keep a Bic close by. The other thing is if your out in the field a Zippo needs maintained. Just like in your video it ran out of juice and it needs it's juice 🤣 keep up the good work MP
Hey magic prep LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!! you should do a video on the civilians in the small villages in ukraine getting ready for shtf with russia we can learn a thing or 2 from them!!
I do not understand the hate with a lighter. I do not smoke but I carry one. You never know when a stranger asks you for a light or you need to light something on fire.
I’m a grandmother I carry a Swiss army knife a clump of keys that have come in handy many times and always have a lighter in my belongings that I carry sometimes even a fire starter lint from the dryer
Wallet, pocket knife, keys, bandanas, lighter, pens, ear protection, and sidearm for me. I find I don't need a flashlight for EDC, because they are ubiquitous in the vehicles and house and since I work during the day I only need one if I'm walking about at night (and thus can just carry the one I'm using). Bandanas are make-shift tourniquets but with a million other uses as well.
I have a surefire stiletto pro and use it all the time. Another cool one I found was the streamlight pocket mate. I keep it on my work ID badge and it comes in handy. Its so small but only works for 15 minutes but living in the city, it gives me light to find my bigger light.
Great video MP! My EDC is Sig 365XL with Romeo Zero and 2 extra 10 rd mags (can't carry high cap in the Socialist Republic of Connecticut) Right front pocket I carry a Bic lighter and cigar torch, Zebra pen and black Sharpie, and Maxpedition knife, Right rear pocket I carry a Gerber Prybrid utility knife Left rear pocket I carry my iPhone Left front pocket I carry an O-light Warrior Mini 2 and a Gerber Dime, Griffin pocket tool, and cigar punch (all connected together on an o-ring) Lots of stuff but things I use multiple times a day.
I always have a go bag on me. Usually it’s my work go bag which is just meant to get home to my actual go bag. It has one of my trauma kits, several energy bars, my breaching kit which is detachable, spare mask. On my person I usually have my Gerber Auto flip, 10mm auto, 3 spare mags, Gerber ghoststrike with the ankle sheath, and standard Kbar with a scout carry sheath. And my concealed vest. Along with my wallet and keys. I do have a multi tool Swiss army and a Olight Striker 3 pro in my backpack as well. I’ve got go bags ready for different scenarios at my house as well but my standard work get to and from go bag has all that I mentioned above. I tend to go with 5.11 for my bags/backpacks
There is also the single jet, which is more fuel efficient. Both made by zippo. Be aware, they don’t fit in the gen1 thyrm pyrovault. Thunderbird also makes a good insert. Xicar has a high-altitude survival lighter. I have one in my back country pack.
I like your Glock setup and the flash lights. Well I actually like everything lol. The tourniquet and the watch is bad ass as well. Your MP flag in the background is bad ass as well. Great video!
Only a few differences is I don’t have a holster plus side cart mines leather & I carry my extra mag in my jeans watch pocket. The 2nd thing is I don’t have a tourniquet in my pocket, I have one prepped to go in my GHB. My EDC belt is a Grove Life belt, it stretches instead of ratcheting. It’s a good belt & then I have a separate battle belt for if or when “GO TIME” gets here. I have a G45 non MOS for my wife so she has a few extra rounds than the G19 which is mine. However being that ima little on the shorter side & a little chubby it’s hard for me to conceal carry either of those pistols comfortably
You should send your Trex holster in for them to up date your holster so the bottom of your is enclosed they updated this and you prob got one of the first ones
@@MagicPrepper the bottom of the light rather the barrel will still be open for attachments but the light is enclosed it’s and update that made but not many people needed it or knew about it but it definitely added reliability to it
3 more important pieces of EDC not mentioned: 1. Sunglasses- I don't want people seeing where my eyes are in any confrontational or sketchy situation. Also... fuck the sun. 2. More importantly is foot wear. You don't want to be caught in some shit with flip flops on. You may need to run, climb shit, kick some teeth, have good traction, and foot protection. I wear comfortable composition toe hiking boots even if I'm just going for a quick arrand. 3. Non lethal protection. Carrying a gun or even a knife is a huge responsibility. It can save your life but it can also ruin your life. I carry a glock, a knife, and pepper spray so I can react to any situation with the appropriate or "reasonable" force. Don't pull your lethal when you could have used pepper spray, don't pull your pepper spray when you should have used your lethal. It's not really all that smart to only have lethal force options to respond to a threat. Shit kickers, spray, knife, and bang bang. 👍
Do you have a link to the holster company?? Great video my friend. I like Glock and carried the 43 for a wile but once the sig p365xl came out I moved the Glock to my vest / plate carrier and now I carry the sig p365xl as my edc. It has 2 less rds but I will fix that with a set of Terran tactical bases and then if they have a +4 base I can get 19 rds if I want. Sig did a great job getting the size & weight down and honestly have made a really small pistol that shoots like a full sized. The xl is the same size in every way as the standard p365 but it just has a 1/2ish longer barrel.
Great EDC setup. Mine looks almost identical!!! Even same color belt lol. But one thing I have in my EDC setup that isn’t in yours is a H&H lock pick set. Besides the flashlight and knife it’s the one other item that gets used the most. Especially here in ND with frozen locks everywhere and people leaving their vehicles run to stay warm when they lock the spare keys inside. It’s can be a life saver
Nice carry man, lol of course your lighter would fail you when you make a video but on the positive it has you set for the next time you need it. Sad to see all the edcclub sold out would have given it a try but mostly just to support so glad to see it's a hit.
I carry the same olight key change light, but I only have three keys on my key ring. I use a carbon graphite pocket clip to keep the “key ring lump” out of the bottom corner of your pocket. Need to add a tourniquet to my edc, have you had any training about how to properly apply the tourniquet ? My carry gun is a glock 19 with Speer gold dot ammo.
Lots to unpack. First my edc knife is Emerson p-sark it deploys as you pull it out of the pocket designed for s.a.r. teams. I will never buy a surefire again after the products I bought from them that they discontinued the bulbs for! That pissed me off. I always have a zippo and a small bic. Cool belt, my old riggers belt they issued me is tired.
I feel positively naked. I work from home and haven't left the house since last Friday for the postoffice. My EDC is a comb and a Number-2 pencil. I pocket-dump as soon as I clear the front door returning. I can't wear a belt and suspenders limit the weight in my front pockets: just my wallet, keys cellphone, comb and pencil when on friendly territory. (edit) I do have a ready-bag that lives in my truck, but it's prepped for winter highway driving, not the Apocalypse. I'm in NJ, there is no middle of no-where. Urban Orcs and Morlocks are more of a concern, I just avoid built-up areas. No weapons though, that would be illegal in my home state....not even a knife. Well, there's a pen-knife in the glove box, but "...that's not a knife!".
i like kershaw knives, but i dont like folding knives, i dont carry them. its full tang or nothing for me, unless i really have to use a folding knife.
I've had my eye on a Garmin, problem is their so expensive, I have to budget it out and save up for awhile to afford. Its weird, if I'm buying a pewpew and I spend that kind of money, I dn't think twice but if its a watch it feels like this super expensive out of reach item I have to save up forever to get lol.
@@Ash_95 I have some. Haven't tested it yet in gel or anything. Only need it for bears and such when hunting or hiking. Normally run the defender in my carry guns. Awesome ammo. Everyone I turn on to it is running it now too...
I get multi tools, really, but for EDC i still stick to a SAK, Multi tools to me are just a poor comprimise. I have a maxpedition pouch with tools that will outperform a multi tool any day of the week
on set in edgewood new mexico a couple years ago we 2 reenage bull whip artists the misplaced their bic for the flaming whip show. i loaned them my zippo in 5 minutes were back to my stunt rack "excuse me sir how do you work this ?" so i crawled under the stage and had them just dangle their whips and i lit them...oh boy
@@MagicPrepper I also have to question your comms. Noticed the radio, and the mag mount antenna sitting by it. LOL guessing you don't get very good range with it in the house. Best place for the antenna is outside of the house. 😂
