What are your sewing plans + goals for this year?

My sewing goals for this year are to get my sewing machine back out after a long hiatus and get my sewing supplies organized and ready to start sewing. My next plan is to help my granddaughter who is 10 make a pair of fleece pajama pants. It will be her first sewing project and to be honest she's not sure about the whole thing. She picked out the fabric so now we are going to do this together. There are also some curtains that need hemming and things that need patching and things I've put off for a long time . Maybe I will actually be inspired to get back into it I do have some skills and I have made a ball gown😂

My goals: Make a bathmat using a jumbo towel. I did this a few years ago, and found I liked the home made mat better than store bought ones. I need a new one. Get my vintage serger running. Stop being afraid of the serger. Finish my charity quilt. Mail it! Make curtains Get my machines serviced. Thank you, Jen for sharing your goals with us.

I plan to make more quilts and cute makeup bags. I have a lot of fabric that I need to use.

My goals are to do some seasonal items for my home. I do quilting, home dec and some accessories like travel bag sets. I have a lot of patterns that I’m going to test out. You can look into seasonal or holiday items you can use in your home. Have fun and happy sewing!😊

For me, I think using what I have along with IF I do buy fabric/supplies to use it immediately or shortly thereafter - not buy for "the later" that just doesn't seem to come 😅 My goals are to confront and get past my procrastination (afraid to mess up or not get it right) and increase my attention span to focus on completing a garment from start to finish. I just feel like my ability to focus has fallen off a cliff - too much quick RU-vid content viewing and CONSTANT scrolling to find the next "coolest/most interesting" thing; actually making things that require focus & time and less time watching other people make things. I appreciate your informative and encouraging videos - I think we're all ready to take the next steps in our sewing journeys and am so glad we're here to encourage & cheer each other on; here's to a productive sewing experience for 2024!

I am with you on using my fabric and things I have and just purchasing what I need to complete a project. This year I have a goal of sewing kids clothes to create a closet of goodies for my grands so they can shop for clothes without going to the store. I also have tons of patterns. I worked at a moving JoAnn store so i am stocked.

I’m heading in to a low buy year this year. That means I’ll be sewing almost exclusively from my curated fabric collection. I haven’t seen many garments on your channel, but have you considered getting involved in Project Dress a Girl? It’s a charity drive that I lead in September here on RU-vid. Sewists make and donate a dress for girls living in extreme poverty during the month. It’s a great feeling plus it’s a phenomenal way to practice fun new sewing skills. 😊

My goal is to improve my costuming skills. I am a costumer for a local theatre and want to improve my creative ideas and push myself to create things I never thought I could.

Sounds like you have some pretty good goals set up. My plan is to learn to use my embroidery machine to make Christmas gifts this year. Believe it or not I am already making crocheted gifts. Have to get an early start, have lots of things to make.

My goal is to try new skills and make videos for my channel. I'm not an expert either but I like to document my projects and gear. I plan to make a new top for my porch umbrella and other practical things but I also want to make some weird and silly things too!

I love your videos and as a tailor, I thought about actually making prom dresses, but although I have enough room in my apartment, I don't have enough space (if that makes sense.) I need a chest of drawers to put up the rest of my clothes is I mean. I can even make patches to add to the items that I make

I am planning on using the fabric I have to create my 2024 projects and only purchasing things/fabric I may need to complete the project if I don’t have the supplies on hand. I have a small sewing room and I need to make some space and organize better ❤ love your channel!

My sewing goals this year involve tracking my stash - in and out. And having out be at least 2x to what’s coming in. Also, I’d like do 1-2 garments per month and finish 1 UFO/ month. Though I should probably add DO ing a Craftsy class or 3 this year… 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m about trying any new technique, my current sewing project is a pattern from OklaRoots called The Spice rack, which will carry my kindle and small projects. This project has binding, which is something I want to get better at. Next, hidden strap connectors, which look ridiculously hard. Finding more time is definitely a challenge.

I returned my Skitch, that app is neither intuitive nor user friendly in my experience. My sewing goals for the year include making bags and aprons for fall and winter craft markets. I’m aiming to get two sewn items per month plus making crochet and knitted items.

This year: I am filtering through all my sewing patterns. some to keep, some to sell, and some to donate. Then go through all my sewing machines (18) to do maintenance, repairs, and put them up for sale. I will keep 1 serger, 1 treadle, 1 hand crank, and 1 embroidery/sewing machine. I need to down size and the $$$$ (tough times).

Excited to see what you will make this year 😍 I am also on some variation of a “low buy”. I want to use what I already have as much as I can. I also think in terms of making content that could make sewing seem more accessible for many if we as content creators do not just buy new fancy fabrics & supplies all the time. It’s something that’s been on my mind a lot lately with rising living costs etc.
