I think again you are underestimating Unai Emery? In two seasons he has qualified for Europe with Villa twice and he has qualified for European competition for 16 season in a row since 08/09. If there is anyone who knows how to juggle the league and European competition, then it's him. Your prediction would be an anomaly that he would not qualify for Europe for the first time in 17 years. He has averaged 1.86 in 68 games for Villa would usually would be enough for 71 points thus there would need to be a major drop-off to finish 8th.

I made predictions with 2 different methods and I'll leave them here. Number one is flawed as it's very basic. It's based on a Least Squares prediction of how many points a team will get. I used data for the last 7 seasons/the seasons since the last promotion. Input is the point tally of one season, output is the point tally of the season after, really simple. This is the prediction: 1. Arsenal 94 2. Man City 89 3. Liverpool 80 4. Aston Villa 77 5. Tottenham 64 6. Newcastle 62 7. Chelsea 60 8.Bournmouth 59 9. Man United 55 10. West Ham 51 11. Crystal Palace 49 (Where they belong) 12. Brighton 48 13. Wolves 43 14. Fulham 42 15. Everton 38 16. Brentfort 36 17. Nottingham Forest 27 18. Leicester City 24 19. Impswitch 20 20. Southhampton This looks very similar to last seasons table because it's just continuing the trajectory as expected because it can't know of any obstacles. For the 3 promoted teams I had no data so I just used the data before the relegation for Leicester and Southampton and 1 season of Luton & Sheffield. Impswitch was predicted with data from Leeds and Burnley last season. Prediction number 2 is just outright wrong but I wanted to share it because it's funny. I tried to do a prediction using a Hankel matrix but the wqy I constructed it was stupid and I would have needed a lot of data for an actual good one. But here it is: 1. Manchester United 75 2. Liverpool 71 3. Crystal Palace 65 4. Leicester City 64 5. Wolves 63 6. Newcastle 61 7. Arsenal 60 8. Tottenham 59 9. West Ham United 58 10. Brentford 55 11. Nottingham Forest 54 12. Manchester City 54 13. Everton 53 14. Aston Villa 48 15. Brighton 48 16. Impswitch 43 17. Chelsea 43 18. Fulham 38 19. Southampton 38 20. Bournmouth 22 If even 5 placings in the second predictions are correct, I think I deserve some sort of medal
@JackEFC
@JackEFC 29 дней назад
Villa won’t be anywhere near top 4, their team isn’t good enough and the fact they have weakened their team with a poor transfer window will be a major factor. Newcastle will be the main threat this season. Their team is unbelievable. Man Utd’s signings are average but not the best, Zirkzee is so bad at scoring goals West Ham made some good signings but it’s wether they will gel or not and their new striker can barely play a full 90 mins. He’s more of an impact sub for Dortmund Arsenals youth all trying to leave because they know they are going down hill. They have hit their peak and will go downhill now Brighton will have a brilliant season in my opinion.

I think Newcastle will do better without the burden of European competition this year and I think top 6 is a reasonable expectation for them. I do think it'll be interesting for Villa balancing the demands of CL and the EPL. They really did fall off at the end of last season as fatigue set in with a smaller squad - and you have to question whether they have really improved the squad. I think they'll likely add at least 2 more shortly. I only disagree with Tottenham and think they'll finish between 6th-8th. I think Ange is quite tactically naive and they will lose too many big games

@@matthewricher2652 Yeah alot of sloppy passes in our own third last season. It beats me why we didn't go back in for Todibo, he could win back the ball when we do that. @jacobdaboss8413 I worry that if we have a bad start that Ange might not even get a full 2nd season. We have to sort out the tactics as we can't keep giving away so many chances in games. Most teams are hitting over double figure in shots against us.

I don’t know why no one is worried about Liverpool losing Klopp. I’m sure slot is a good manager but you can’t just replace Klop and expect things not to be bumpy for a while? Maybe I’m wrong but they were dragged into the 5-8 race season before last so why not again?

Our fans are hyping up Slot like he's the 2nd coming of Christ. I was at the Sevilla game and I will say we looked solid defensively but he will need to hope he's lucky with injuries as players don't want to come here now Klopp has gone. Slot lacks any warmth or charisma which won't work in his favour if we do hit a bad patch.

4/25 PL Predictions Time for my predictions. Thought I did decent last season, but we’ll see. Goes without saying I haven’t seen all the transfer business or any points deductions so there’s that. 1st. Manchester City - Is anyone surprised? Best team in the world with the best manager. I think they’ll drop points here and there focusing on CL and playing some of the kids but end of the day they still get first. 2nd. Arsenal - I don’t think this will be close. After challenging for 2 seasons and failing, I think there will be a drop off. Not to mention their clear lack of a striker and 4 CBs, plus their want for another midfielder. Still the second best team tho. 3rd. Liverpool - Boring ik, same top 3 but they have the best squads. Looking like Liverpool will get Zubimendi, which is a great signing. Definitely some growing pains under slot but they’ll finish a comfortable third. 4th. Newcastle - First real decision, and I’m not totally convinced tbh. But the difference in my mind between Newcastle and the teams below is the stars, guys who will carry you when you’re playing bad (Isak, Gordon, Bruno, Botman). Just a lack of those below imo. 5th. Spurs - A lot of good, young acquisitions but I just don’t see the star quality to get top 4. Last year was prolly their best chance, and new signings just feel like they’re a year or two away from something big. Great project tho. 6th. United - These guys are always gonna finish top 8 guaranteed, question is where. Maybe a bit negative, but the transfer activity hasn’t been brilliant. Bought another young striker when you need other positions, replaced your best CB with an 18 yo whose Alr injured, and lost a CDM in which you didn’t have many before. Young kids look good and injuries decimated you, so 6th seems fine. 7th. Villa - Love the project, Emery is doing wonders, keeping him needs to be the priority. With a new CL format and it being their first season, I think they’ll struggle. Injuries in key positions could be very bad as well, but it’s a season you gotta get through to grow. 8th. West Ham - Great team with a decent manager. I’m not a huge fan of Lopetegui, but they’ll have their “new manager bounce”, coupled with a deep ish squad and quality in attack, they squeak ahead of the next team. 9th. Chelsea - I’m not even sure they should be this high tbh. Maresca ball I’m not sold on, but there are highlights in what I’ve seen from pre season. Their defense scares me though. No Thiago Silva, a lot of guys who are a bit mistake prone, and with the I injury record of their best players, guys like Palmer and Enzo are going to have to step up. I just don’t have any trust in these guys. 10th. Brighton - The new manager definitely scares me from their perspective. I think they’ll have moments when they look like a top 4 team, and moments when they look like a relegation squad. It’ll balance out at 10th, which isn’t necessarily a bad season under the circumstances. 11th. Crystal Palace - Perhaps they’d be higher if they’d kept Olise, but tbf they’ve done good business. Adam Wharton is bound to have a great season, but the reliance on Mateta for goals isn’t great, especially with the fact he’s had 6 months of good play and that’s it. They could be higher for sure, but 11th seems fitting for the eagles 12th. Wolves - A couple more signings, another year of development, and an actual pre season, no reason why Wolves will do any worse than last season in my mind. Their solid system and quality players are enough to lead them to upper mid table, but without a spark (excluding an injury prone Pedro Neto) I don’t see anything to suggest them any higher either. 13th. Bournemouth - Tbf, I think they’ll do better than most 13th placed squads. But I think once they get to the end of the season and they’re safe, the performances drop and go down a couple of positions. Ireola is a great manager has a good squad, but it feels like they’re missing a couple of peices to push them further, not to mention potentially losing Solanke. Their inconstancies in form are just too much to overlook imo. 14th. Everton - not an especially aspiring squad, and no real acquisitions that drift my mind too far from last season. But without a point deduction, these guys will be safely in the mid-40 points range. Call it 14 but I don’t see much separating them and the two guys below 15th. Fulham - aging squad with a lack of goals imo, but you can’t overlook the quality of some of the guys in the dressing room. Not only Pereira, Robinson, or ESR, but namely Marco Silva (who I’m baffled hasn’t left yet). I think this is the last year before this Fulham project really starts to take off, but there’s too many weaknesses in the team for me to put them above the teams like Bournemouth and Brighton. 16th. Forest - decent squad with a lot of highlights, but ultimately I haven’t seen enough moments from this team to justify putting them higher than the two teams above. Nuno Santo will cook with a real pre season, and I see them constantly being a really good performance team. But I think they’ll just find themselves above the relegation fight. Never really in trouble 17th. Southampton - The only newly promoted team I have surviving, I like their incomings and having that City dna never hurts. I think it’ll be very close, but I think their play style will reward them and they’ll get the win in the important matchups. 18th. Brentford - I know everyone says “don’t count out Brentford”, but for such a well ran club, it feels like the project has stagnated. Too many of their “shrewd” signings haven’t delivered, and Ivan Toney didn’t look great when him came back (which he was trying to get on the England squad, without his big move I doubt he’ll be interested) 19th. Ipswich - On paper, this team is last. But apart from what I’ll say later, these “fairy-tale” teams usually have a run of games where they perform when. 3 or 4 games where they get 10-12 points, and I don’t see Leicester doing that. That being said, this team won’t be close to staying up. No sackings, maybe a falling out or two, but really only reason to watch is for the vibes. 20th. Leicester - So many things just legit disgust me with this team. The fact that the signings are sub par, the bulk of the squad isn’t prem material, the lack of goals, and the few prem proven players they have are either average at best or mentally frail at worst. Not to mention the incoming points deduction that Leicester will have. A big sinking moment for some of these players. The only redeeming quality about this team in my opinion is the manager. Steve Cooper is a good manager, give him 3 years and Leicester will stay up. But for now, this squad just ain’t it.

@deanoss777 I like him, and I think he'll kick on, but probably after the 1st season. It's good tactics, but it won't work in a league as physically demanding as the prem. Vvd is exceptional enough to cover some of these gaps but neither of his partners are as good and liverpool lack an elite defensive midfielder. Hence, it's really difficult to see them finish top 4.

Here's my predictions - some of it could change quite dramatically post deadline day tho. 1. Man City - Could make it 5 in a row lol - hard to bet against them really. 2. Arsenal - Need to improve that LHS and add another world-class forward. Still if Man City drop-off they could capitalise. 3. Liverpool - thought they might drop-off but tbh have been really impressed with Slot so far even if it is only pre-season. Need a 6 and a cb imo exactly like last summer lol but I think the squad is comfortably 3rd best. 4. Man Utd - not super excited by their signings and defo don't think ETH will be there long-term but there's enough there to consolidate 4th imo. A good season from Bruno and Rashy with even a marginally improved defence and they'll shoot up the league compared to last season imo 5. Spurs - Solanke is a proper signing even for that price imo - a bit worried about their defence tho Van De Ven and Romero aren't gonna go a full season without injury/suspension and their play-style relies on those guys being sharp so much. 6. Aston Villa - like the transfers but increased fixture congestion will play it's part - don't expect them to drop off as much as Newcastle did last season in the same position tho. Hopefully we'll see Philogene get minutes in the prem - what a baller. 7. Newcastle - no European football should help but still not that convinced by Howe - always feel like they could really do with a proper no 10 as well. Guehi would be great business tho, if they can get it done. 8. West Ham - Class transfer window - honestly would be even more confident if Moyes was still there - not a huge fan of lopetegui but he'll be happy with the quality at his disposal at least lol 9. Chelsea - honestly the more I think about them the more tempted I get at putting them lower - absolute shambles of a club rn - maybe a coach that won't be maresca will be able to pick them up in the second half of the season. They clearly have some great players but right now I just don't see it being anything other than a horrible first half of the season at least. 10. Palace - Wharton - Doucoure pivot is gonna be so good and could genuinely be one of the best midfield pairs in the league - Glasner seems a good fit 11. Brighton - Amazing transfer window - unsure about this coach tho he's younger than a lot of the squad haha - but who knows maybe he's the next pep 12. Bournemouth - yh Solanke going is to be a blow - should be all over Nketiah imo - still Huijsen is such a good signing and Iraola is class 13. Wolves - really good manager really good team - should surely make some new signings as well after receiving like £100 million from sales 14. Everton - Have Dyche so they'll be fine but another possible points deduction will stop them from doing anything of note 15. Fulham - Losing Tosin and Palhinha is a blow, could honestly put them as low as 18th but I remember thinking the same when they lost Mitrovic and they were completely fine lol - rate Marco Silva (need more signings tho) 16. Ipswich - McKenna is a serious coach (gotta be shoe in for next Utd manager if he does well in the prem) - really like the signings as well - Greaves and Delap in particular. Feels like they'll be able to get a fair few shock results as well. 17. Forest - Don't really rate Nuno but do rate the squad. 18. Brentford - Could defo prove a bad prediction because they have a good squad and a decent manager but that can sometimes just not be enough in the Prem. Feels like they've been declining a bit each year. 19. Leicester - pains me to say but we have pretty much no chance - squad won't be good enough to overcome a record points deduction. 20. Southampton - Russell Martin is this seasons Vincent Kompany I'm afraid - just don't really rate him or their squad.

City, Liverpool, Newcastle, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Villa, Brighton, West Ham - in that order. Newcastle next season with 1 game will be deadly, last time they had 1 game they finished joint best defence with City and have been one of the highest scorers in the league 2 years in a row. Arsenal are at their peak and aren’t getting any better, all their youth want out of the club because they will start going backwards this season. Villas signings have been some of the worst in the league, they have weakened their whole team. Barkley is alright but he’s no Luiz, the 2 from Juventus are LAUGHABLE they are soo bad, Onana is horrific, Everton fans couldn’t wait to get rid of him and Maatson is alright, not the best, ask Dortmund fans how many mistakes he makes and how many bad games he has, he single handily lost Dortmund the CL final. Man Utd another team with shocking signings, Yoro and Zirkzee. I mean Yoro is shocking on the ball, every now and then plays a good long pass and is alright at last ditch tackles but terrible at man marking. Zirkzee has great close control but is even worse than Hoijlund for scoring goals.

Brentford fan’s thoughts: - Don’t really understand why people are claiming we drop off? - We went last season with one of the worst keepers in the league, without our fullbacks since October, and missing Toney/Mbeumo/Schade for spells. Surprisingly not spending any time in the bottom 3. - Unless we have the same exact injury crisis, I see us finishing 12th-14th. Goes without saying we need a CB to replace Collins (he has been awful) and a backup LB for if Henry or Hickey are injured again. - if Flekken has a terrible start to the season I would drop him for Valdimarsson (our young backup GK) after the international break.
@spxrk5729
@spxrk5729 29 дней назад
I completely agree, I think everyone’s sleeping on us thinking last season was us getting found out when in reality the only thing found out was our lack of depth. Flekken was poor at the start of last season but was an incredible shot stopper in 2024 so I’m hoping he continues that form, he single-handedly got us draws and wins we didn’t really deserve last season. I hope that we sell Toney simply for peace of mind, ending the saga and moving on with Thiago is the best way forward. If we bring in a centre back and some depth at LB/RB then I can see us finishing in the upper mid table. Can only hope we don’t get as unlucky as last year!

So I'm a Chelsea fan and I have this feeling that the season is going to one of three ways. 1) We struggle early on adapting to Maresca's style, lose too many, eventually things start to settle, we never put that big of a winning run together and finish anywhere from 10th-6th. 2) We're just straight up dreadful,Maresca is gone by Christmas and we finish closer to the bottom three than the top half. 3) Somehow we surprise everyone (including me) and aren't as bad as people expect, we put a string of results together, beat some of the big teams, have another couple of cup runs and end up finishing 3rd/4th - this is obviously the most unlikely but there's a small, and I mean microscopic, part of me that thinks it could happen.

Also doubt europe will affect us considering how weak the competition in uecl looks and lastly dont quite understand. i agree with the defense being shakey its a big worry but maresca has said its due to a high line which was instilled by poch and hes working on fixing it. I dont agree with ur point on lack of experience considering 95% of our squad is the same as last year. I know im a Spurs fan but ive got a feeling that Arsenal may not be as strong as previously. I seem to remember them getting several last minute quite lucky wins, deflections etc and more than most teams. If Martinelli isn't back to his usual form then all it takes is for Saka and/or Odegaard to have a bad run or injury and i think they could really struggle. If they had an out and out, dominant CF i think they could push City hard and win it with a slightly more Route 1 approach, but they don't have that in the locker like City, and arguably like Spurs with Solanke. If Arsenal got Solanke or Toney even i think it would be guaranteed 2nd with a strong contender spot. I think they may drop £80+m on a proven striker in Jan if theyre not as fluid as they'd like. City just seem to be more adaptable. Actually, if Pool spend on a reliable striker, i think they could be up there at the end too.

Surely applying the same methodology to similar clubs would get a better chance of success? He played every game last season, got 19 G/A. Heavily relying on Rogers, Ramsey, Buendia, Bailey & Tielemans to keep up or step up massively after injuries. Like you say we could come 3rd or be lucky to finish top half that’s how stacked this season is😂

Pre season has been awful too with the spine of the team injured or not yet available

United are getting top 4 comfortably. The squad has improved massively and we look so much better. Liverpool won’t get top 6

I don't get why everybody keeps having united so high ? Yes there man united but they ain't the same united they was ten plus years ago. There are plenty of teams better than them now and plenty of teams on par. Out of the top 8 teams they are the worst now. And depending how west ham gel they could even be 9th .
@aystefan
@aystefan 29 дней назад
How is United being 6th high? What metrics have you used to come to the conclusion that United are the 9th best team? Just a little feeling you’ve got?
@danielhilsdon2043
@danielhilsdon2043 29 дней назад
@@aystefan they finished 8th last season . Arsenal city Liverpool Chelsea villa spurs Newcastle are all better teams now, also better run teams with better managers and owners. And west ham if all there new players gel together got potential to upset all of those teams as well .

@danielhilsdon2043 Smart signings, less injuries, new tactics and proper structure. 6th place is pessimistic given how good they've looked. 4th most likely, and 3rd if they're lucky with injuries.
@danielhilsdon2043
@danielhilsdon2043 29 дней назад
@@sssf55 they haven't brought anybody who's of value really though . Most of the players either had a half good season or a good euros so man u went for them . None of them are proven in the premier league or proven on the highest levels . And for tactics you do realise it's the same manager they had last season there are far plenty better managers. And as for injuries city and arsenal didn't get to many but Liverpool villa spurs Newcastle had plenty of injuries there self's so they also will have a better squad depth this season
@sssf55
@sssf55 29 дней назад
@@danielhilsdon2043 Lol you're just waffling random nonsense. They had the worst injury crisis in their clubs premier league history last season and Ten Hag still managed to crush City to win silverware. Only a child would believe that the managers around him are better for winning absolutely nothing in their time in the premier league. I know you're too casual to remember that Chelsea went from 8th place to winning the league the follow season. Utd won't do that, but the new support staff, medical staff, training facilities and footballing structure will improve them dramatically. They have a better squad than Spurs, Newcastle and Villa. And have a better manager than Spurs, Newcastle, Villa and Liverpool. Very Very unlikely that they don't finish top 4.

Love the format mate, so clean. If I had to offer a bit of criticism however, I think using both 'key players' and 'key cluster of fixtures' feels redundant in using the word 'key'. Maybe have the term as 'players to watch out' will make things flows more natural.

I don’t think Europe will effect Villa this year. They had Europe last year as well and managed it okay
