@@jimchance5006 and the rear subframe? from st205 im trying to do a awd toyota celica 7gen I have the adapter plate for the e153 but i have also the e154f stored
Dude this is fucking great!!! I have an 05 corolla with a blown motor and for so long iv been talking about taking it and making it awd and rallying it and its awesome that finally someone has done it and i can get ideas and learn from
It wouldnt suprise me if he used a matrix transfercase and rearend. I was thinking about taking my wifes matrix that was hit in the front and using the awd to swap into my corolla xrs. Get some coilovers and set the ride height as high as possible maybe even throw in some strut spacers to get a little more clearance so i can slap the biggest tires i can wedge in there. Get a tube front bumper with a winch and some lights and a solid skidplate.. Perhaps a steel tube roof basket to carry extra shit..
“ well it's an entire st185 drivetrain and rear suspension, using an e153 adapter plate to go to the 2zz. Sadly the 2zz block and lower girdle requires some pretty intense modifications to clear the transfer case for the e150f transmission, as the alltrac/gtfour stuff use a larger transfer case with a viscous coupling for power transfer to the rear wheels. I do have a rav4 center diff on the way to test with, the rav4 unit is a little smaller and is fulltime 4wd vs the viscous coupling realtime of the alltrac. So hopefully the rav4 diff clears with less mods. As for rear suspension, I had koni yellows and ground controls on the car before the swap and modified the st185 rear struts to accept my Corolla stuff. I also swapped all the st185 knuckles to 4x100 to use my current wheels and brake setup. Easy enough as the 8th gen corolla wheel hubs fit the st185 bearings. “ Someone asked: “ did you get custom half shafts made to work with the hubs? How did you fit the rear end to the Corolla chassis? “ AWD 2zz guy says: “ Jordan Filip no. Off the shelf rav4 axles work for the front. For the rear I swapped the stub shafts to rav4 stub shafts to use rav4 axles. The st185, 96 to 00 rav4, Corolla alltrac and camry alltrac all can use the same front axles. The rear is solid axle on the Corolla alltrac, so camry and rav4 stuff are the easiest to come by. And fairly inexpensive. As for fitting the rear subframe, it was a simple task. I used the 8th gen trailing arms and struts to help locate and center the rear end, then measured and triple checked. Made some weld in plates with replaceable studs (st185 studs from gt4.play) and welded them in. Rear end is straight and true. “
Here's how I've seen it done before. This is not the first AWD 2ZZ, I don't know why people keep this a secret... Use a full time AWD E352F transmission, differential, and front axles out of a 2001-2005 RAV4 w/abs. Get an adapter plate made to mount the transmission to the engine. Get a rear subframe and prop shaft from 2003-2004 Toyota Matrix with AWD 1ZZ. Rear differential and axles of your choice. They are all 2.928 ratio for the diffs. Some Highlanders and Lexus RX models have stock torsen LSDs. Clutch and flywheel assembly from any 3SGTE engine will be needed as well as the starter. Finally, a wiring harness and ECU from a M/T 2ZZ if yours isn't already manual will be needed too. You'll have to fab a lot of stuff up to make it work and cut out some body panels, but it's worth it. 😎🤙
I have a 2007 Corolla S with a 1ZZ-FE in it......... can I put a 2ZZ-GE into it with the help of a good mechanic? My car has the 4 speed automatic trans.
my own question is on the center differential is it mechanical clutch style like an LSD or electronic control clutch style like an LSD controlled by the ABS sensors
This is very random but I’m looking for a set of XRS bucket seats for my 05 corolla. Would you be willing to possibly sell? Or have recommendations on where I could find some? Thanks!
