two youtubers that i’m aware of have experienced scale on their thais (Pete vs Plants and unplantparenthood). im suspecting thais might be prone to scale infestations.
Hey Daisy, ohh interesting, must reach out to Pete and see his experiences, so far never come accross scale on any of my plants, so can't comment, but that is great that you shared that, I think it will help a lot of people in the comment 😊🌿💚
I JUST bought 2 tissue culture plants of the Thai Constellation Monstera. (My first experience with tissue culture and two gives me better odds 😅) but I've seen allot go wrong with the albo; both online and people in my personal life. So I did a bit of research and decided on this one. Not only do I love its variegation pattern but also that it seems to have a more stable variegation. I'm still new to plants, and it's my first variegated monstera, so we'll see how that theory/idea (based on all the videos and reviews I've seen) holds up.
I saw Thai Constallation monsteras very juvenile in a plant shop for 79€ last month. I'm going to a plant fair this Saturday to celebrate my birthday (that was yesterday) and see with what I fall in love (I definitely have to fix a budget if I don't want to be ruined at the end of the day :D )
Ohhh interesting, they are holding their prices even in Euros too then. Yeah a budget would be adviser, I try to do the same when I can otherwise it can really get out of hand 😅😅😅💚🌿
Just to say you look radiant 😁. Like fresh and vibrant. I am definitely here for the plant chat…I have a Thai. Con. too, but I just really wanted to let you know 😊.
Forgot to mention I’ve got a baby Thai, would have thought she is a tissue culture was tiny when I got her. She is getting bigger but terrified to water it have heard so many horror stories about root rot 😮
Ohhh congrats on the new addition Kathy 🙌🙌🙌 yeah they can be tricky that was why mine went straight into semi hydro without a reservoir, so I can monitor the roots and avoid rot as much as possible 😬😬😬😅😅😅🌿🌿💚
Same here, I've got a juvenile form, in 5 months (spring/summer) she's made 2 leaves only... it's going to take a couple of years (if she survives) until I can see some fenestration :D
@@Houseplantygoodness out of curiosity, how many of your semihydro plants are in non-reservoir setups? What is the advantage of doing this over aroid mix? I thought the whole point of semihydro was to have plants that don't need to be watered as frequently because of the reservoir. I asked because I've destroyed a couple of plants via root rot in semihydro 😢
Ok I just realized who you remind me of. Are you related to the Walsh twins? Like the ones that do make up and skincare? You look exactly like they’re not twin brother and you have the same exact accent.
Mines quite juvenile she has one leaf with fenestration and 3 very immature leaves I’ve had her nearly 6 months and absolutely no sign of a new leaf yet!! Nothing at all 😭 it has to be the slowest plant in my collection
Hello hope you are fine! I own a couple of Thai cons and noticed that the clear (cream yellow colored) part of the leaves get a bit brownish at the top end of their leaves, why does it happen? I see it on yours too, again only in the parts where no green is shown . Is it a way to stop it ?
Just bought a $30 baby from the local grocery store! 6 leaves and rooted, but no fenestrations just yet so🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻I’m so glad to see the price FINALLY dropping into a more consumer friendly range so if anything happens it’s easier to get a back up lol
@@elliottbrown6291 geeze I wish they were that cheap in Australia. Had to resort to a two leaf tissue culture still cost me $25 not including transport
I have a smaller specimen, and I feel the same way that you do! It is always exciting when a plant can make you feel that way, even after caring for it for a few years!
I have a juvenile thai con in lechuza pon and it has been putting out about 1 leaf per month. It's up to 7 leaves now, and I have lost none. I keep it under a strong grow light, so that probably has something to do with how quickly it seems to be growing.
I just got a really baby Thai. I have seen people who let theirs crawl instead of putting it on a moss pole. I think I might go that direction. Hope mine looks as beautiful as yours does one day.
Your Thai is so beautiful 😍 I’ve stunted mine out of fear of it rotting. Kept in small pot an low watering. Got it back in 2019 an just now getting one little split. Lol Still love it 💚💚💚💚 The best price I’ve seen in the US is 60$.
Hey Sherry, thank you, that is super kind of you to say, yeah I think mine might be as slow as it is due to me being super careful to not cause rot, but I would be curious to see what others say too. Wahooo its great that it is getting its first split 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉💚🌿
i just got a little rooted, high varigation thai with 3 leaves for $35 from a local plant shop in NYC (to keep up with the comments on prices). i"m super excited to watch it grow and i really appreciate these videos. i feel like i actually know what to expect thanks to you 😊
Hmmm not sure I have ever tried to do it faster, but I think I saw some people trying with Keiki paste, not sure if it was to stimulate one or to make it grow faster though. Maybe someone else in the comments might know? 💚🌿
@@sherryporsch9349 thank you so much! It started with a node in moss and has been in a greenhouse since then - and now has lots of roots and I am watching that node impatiently)
I have used Keiki paste with much success! The node was completely covered in that dark bark and I applied the Keiki paste and it popped within a month.
I’ve also considered getting a 3d printer to make pots. 😂 I bought a small highly variegated seedling for about $80 5 months ago. It took a few months to start growing after being shipped and me changing the substrate but I’ve gotten 2 new leaves over the last 2 months (one per month). The newest leaf is more than double the size of the last. I’m blasting it with a sansi light about 12 hours a day though so that might make a difference. Such a gorgeous plant! 😍 Love these videos!
Most of the places near me the Thais are selling in three digit range. I found this sale, there is a limit of 1 per household. I am happy for mine. The Costa Farm problem hit people hard.
I got my Thai Constellation as a little baby with no splits in a 4 inch pot about 8-9 months ago. I've repotted a couple times and it stayed outside all summer. I've now got some large leaves with splits and holes. It's inside for winter now, but still pushing a new leaf.
