Awesome progression man! That last line about feeling like you’re progressing one month and forget it all the very next is so true. It’s all about enjoying the process! 🤙
As a Dogtown surfer skater the only thing i see kind of lacking is "style" the two guys who inspired us waaaaayyyyyy back in the day and might inspire any adbanced surfer are Larry Bertleman and Buttons and these two were ripping stylistically on single fins. These were two of Hawaiis greatest surfers. Yours doing great but style and flow which normally comes with experoence. Shaka bruh 😎
Dude you are surfing switch foot .Im giving you a gold star for that one .The fact you can switch stance that well is a special gift that needs to be refined .You're going places .Im sending you a one minute video that is going to change the game for good. Your willingness to take criticism and learn is a valuable asset you have as well . Well done .
One more tip is less is sometimes more. On less powerful waves, instead of doing 10 mediocre carves, pump down the line more and hammer a stronger carve or two. Much more fun in my opinion, but shred however you like that's the beauty of surfing my dude!
Hey dude, this vid was recommended on my home page. Watched the whole thing. I'm a surf instructor here in San Diego and have been surfing for 15 years now. You seriously made incredible progress over only three years. You're surfing like someone with more like 5-6 years of experience already in my opinion on a shortboard. One tip I have is to try to eliminate that "pause" between your bottom turn and snap/carve. The more you can make it one fluid motion the better to carry speed seamlessly. I really like your turn at @11:02. Verticle floater @11:38 is also well done making a boring speedless section more fruitful. Keep it up, would love to see how you progress this next year or two. I personally feel like I've hit a ceiling in my surfing and you're close to getting to the stage I'm at right now with maneuvers. Airs and fin release rotations in your snaps are next steps. Cheers! -Michael
Thank you man! Such a great comment and so insightful! Definitely gonna start working on fin releases and airs next! But still gonna focus on the rails for now. Thank you for watching the whole thing, it really means a lot!!
Now you need to go to the pit........... anyone of them, just choose....... after that your power level will be over 9000 👌or you will be dead. Hit it and Quit it 😉
Never seen someone learn regular and goofy footed just to always be frontside regardless of lefts or rights. Interesting that you stuck with regular foot once you started surfing backside because, to me, you look more naturally goofy footed. I’ve been surfing and skateboarding my entire life (40 now). Does it feel too awkward going backside goofy foot?
Funny because I am naturally regular footed but I’ve heard from many people now, that my style looks better when I go goofy foot! Maybe I should focus on goofy more…..
@@meeksurf Idk if I would knock your style either way but I grew up skateboarding and there is a certain subtlety to a boarder’s movement that gives away their switch stance. It’s more of a trained eye for it after skateboarding for my entire youth into adulthood. You do you, brah 🤙
you made some sick progress! What helpt me a lot is choosing the right board for the right conditions. I was stuck surfing a thruster in very bad quality surf. Now I have been grabbing a twin whenever the waves lack power, it opens up a whole new level of fun!
Yeow! Love these progression videos. Stoked for you brother, wild to see how far you've come in such a short amount of time. Your progressions awesome to watch, keep it up.
Epic progress and still very relatable. That’s awesome. Have you considered sending your footage to say Adam Knox (Taylor Knox’s brother) and getting some advice on your technique. That would be cool to see from my POV
Good job, i think if you push yourself into bigger surf, it will make a huge difference. Learn to control your speed in larger surf. That one session at the end in HI i noticed it.
I surfed against a guy in the 80's who surfed both ways .One day I asked where his twin brother was . He said I don't have a twin brother . I thought there were 2 of them one regular one goofy, but it was all him lol . Great way to mess with people . 🤣Sent you a one minute video on instagram and practice that switch stance is unique .
This video is sick! You’ve come so far it’s insane. I have loved watching you progress and fall in love with surfing and filmmaking. You truly have a gift for both of these and I know you are going big places in the future. Keep up the good work and keep pumping out these awesome videos!!🤙🤙🤙
