I would really like to see Americans go to a minimalist plate carrier set up. You really do not need that much. You do not need grenade pouches. You do not have certain needs as a civilian. Most people need to think about what they will be doing in carry only what they would need not what this looks cool. I live in mtns so I don’t carry 7-8 mags, run 3-4 on the carrier and 1-2 on a belt for ditching the carrier and having something. Keep a compass on the belt. Keep nothing on the front that doesn’t help you kill something. 2 pistols is so stupid. You don’t need a lot unless you are urban fighting. Rarely will you need 210 rounds as a militia members who will be finding a guerrilla war do you want to unload one maybe two mags and get the heck out of there

Any updates or changes to your gear? I chose the same plate carrier for all the same reasons. I'm running a viper 24 hour pack so I can carry more water. Arizona is a friend to no one 😄

No changes. The only thing I convinced myself to buy lately is ammo. I finally accepted the fact the price isn't going to drop.

AR500 Level III multicurve 10x12" shooter's cut with spall coating. I don't think AR500 makes my plates anymore. I think the closest match they currently sell is called the Heritage plate.

I change out the installed belt loops. I use either Malice clips or G-Code R1 MOLLE clips.

what kind of radio do you have and are you satisfied with it? i know nothing about them.

I use a Baofeng radio with a push-to-talk on the plate carrier. I don't remember the model. I also have a coiled 3.5mm cable into the push-to-talk which is plugged into my Howard Leight ear protection. It's a setup I've used for many years when my crew used to do team airsoft in the desert. Makes it really easy to coordinate with your team when you can't see each other.

No offense but 5.11 gear is no where near mil spec either. Most of it that I have is only slightly better than the Condor gear I own.

Their packs are great. Have the same one for almost two years now. Shows a little wear but hasn’t failed yet after the abuse I’ve put it through.

Milspec generally sucks. The issued gear is nowhere near as good as the 5.11. Condor even though Chinese made better magpouches than what we were issued too
