I commented on this video about loving Jianbing and missing it so much about 6 months ago. I happened to stumble upon your video again today and I'm going to China for a month in about 4 days! The first thing I'll want to eat is Jianbing!
I think you take this video at Xian.I've been stay in Xi'an for 15 years........It's feel so good to watch a video of Xian on youtube, maybe i met you at Xian before, I leave that city for 1 year now......
Are you still in China? I'm Elisa from Venice, I lived in the north of China as an exchange student and I really miss chinese food, my favorite was malatan :)
I love this video!! dumplings are probably my all-time favorite food, and my mom makes them the best. I LOVE that the street vendor plopped down a whole clove of raw garlic! that's the real beijing style way to go ahaha. (and now I want to go visit china again)
HEY KEVIN. Where did you take this video? It looks like my hometown. Just a street behind my high school. I MISSED THOSE FOODS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!
Nice video dude, giving out a counter opinion that u might need to consider (liang pi)( the cold see-through noodles served with Sesame paste and spices) as one of the top 5.
Like your video Kevin. But I need to tell u that different cities, provinces or areas have their own different food . I think u should continue travel china which u are able to make a top10000 delicious Chinese food list until u finished your journey. Haha .
Kevin Cook hi how did you order the food and know the prices. Do you speak chinese or did the people speak english or did you have a chinese friend with you
Even though I am not a fan of the NO.5 and NO. 2, but I used to eat one jian bing guo zi each day for almost a month when I was in China. :) I like your videos, Thank you for your effort ~
Which part of china are you living in? I'm moving to Beijing to teach English in October. I've never traveled before. Never even been on a plane either.... But your videos are very informative keep it up!
Wow, if you've never been on an airplane before, you're in for a looooong flight, assuming you're from either EU or USA. I live in Rizhao in the Shadong Province. That's where this video was filmed.
I'm coming from California, USA. I'm not nervous about the flight I be it was going to take a while. Haha. I've been learning mandarin for about two and half years but I'm nervous of how to navigate the airport in Beijing. Do they have English terminals? Or pinyin naming terminals?
omg i am crying here in the U.S. I am chinese but i moved here like 10 yrs ago and i haven't get the chance to go back to China cuz i hate flying. I REALLY miss all those chinese street food! You are so lucky living in China.
I love eating and watching street Food being made and I CAN'T get over how good looking you are and that YOU also like street food! I would LOVE to try Jian Bing. I've seen other videos of Jian Bing being made before and I crave it SOOO badly, one of the food to try in my bucket list (Isn't it weird that I crave something I never tasted) Btw You should visit Other Asian country 👍
I approve this list, though I would put dumplings to the all-time No.1! We even have a saying that goes "the most relaxing position is lying down, while the most delicious food is dumpling" (Hmmmm, actually sounds kinda odd in English). Well done with your video Kevin, and your Chinese sounds adorable!!!
Excellent! Both the video and the food. Most of these street food videos just show somebody throwing a bunch of stuff onto a hot griddle - thanks for having the good sense to provide an explanation.
I go to China very often to see family and I look forward to eating street food everytime. I wish their was something like this in America. Maybe in Chinatown or something. Jianbing is my ultimate favorite food and I miss eating is so much. Watching them being made is the second best thing to eating them ^-^.
It is the exactly city I was live Rizhao lol. However now I am living LA : ( so sad. That videos makes me really miss my hometown, but I still appreciate you and what you did : )
hi! there! where did you live in China? It is RIZHAO city, right? i live there for 4 years for study. I was so amazed when I saw this video. i just watch it for fun and I find this secret, really surprise me!!!lol
Mm I remember having Jian Bing in Shanghai back in October - awesome snack! Was there for a week and after day three the guy knew what I wanted (two of them) without me needing to open my mouth. Cheap as chips too!
These are primarily northern China street food. A lot of them are made with dough/flour/noodles. If you go to the south such as guang dong province the food is very different.
I love seeing foreigners or non chinese people enjoying and loving chinese food. Makes me feel so proud. Food too can make people of all nationality united :)
The one you got with the crispy thing the Shandong version called 煎饼果子,and the crispy thing is the 果子. I much prefer this to the Tianjin version that has 油条 instead.
It’s true, you can’t totally immerse in a culture without eating their food. Good thing that there are restaurants in other countries that serve authentic Chinese food.
I beg to differ. I don't find the jiabing all that. I have never seen jiaozi as street food in Shanghai, but my favorite will always be the meat skewers where you can choose all kinds of meat that can be grilled. You can also choose vegetables and even bread. My favorite. Hygiene will always be an issue so I eat the street food in moderation.
Authentic Roujiamo is sold no where else other than in ShaanXi province, coz that's where the food was invented. Nothing else other than long-stewed pork(you can choose half fat half lean or lean meat to be added but everyone who knows the food would choose the half and half) was added into the flour bun and the bun was toasted not fried! Please viewers don't be misled.
undoubted, these street foods are all tasty. but I guess that most of them should be originated from some north provinces in China. besides, if you'd have a chance for someday, I would highly recommend you to taste some special street foods which are from South China, such as, 云吞面 (Wonton noodles - Guangzhou) or 臭豆腐 (fried stinky Tofu - Changsha ), 灌汤包 (soup buns -Shanghai)... hm, they delicious too
Thanks for the recommendations Yin Yang! I just moved to Shanghai this week, and I'll be here for another year, so I'll definitely film a video about 灌汤包
Hi Kevin, Thanks for sharing your top 5 picks of Chinese fast food. It is nice you like Chinese food so much, if it was a girl, you would marry it lol.
Everything looks so scrumptious! And it is so amazing that the street vendor foods are so cheap. However, as of 2015 I have been told that meat is getting rather expensive all over China. Could you comment on this in your next video? I was told by a tourist returning from China that just going out for tea is getting expensive as is eating out in restaurants. Food is no longer a bargain in China??
@Kevin Cook YO KEVIN COOK YOU SHOULD REALLY GO TO HARBIN, HEILONGJIANG IN WINTER(NOW) THE FOOD IS SO FREAKING GOOD AND THE SNOW, ICE CASTLE STUFF..... AND DO ANOTHER VID!!!!!!
Is really interesting to see foreigners try Chinese food. There is one thing that I want to say is TOP4 is not actually HUOGUO is MALACHUAN. Your Chinese is really good!😁
Cutie pie 😙 I wish they had these types of street food here in hawaii😢 Im such a fan of street food.. I do enjoy watching them prepare/make it.. it IS the best part lol I'm here eating a banana...hoping and praying it tastes like the food I just watched ahahahaha... Mahalo I enjoyed it...
Kevin Cook Hi Kevin, was this recorded in Xi'an too? I had my first Bing the other day, and I have to agree it's delicious! But I'm a total sucker for chinese dumplings of any kind so that would top my list lol. Take Care
