I've been saying for years now that psychologists ought to encourage individuals to adopt or hold guinea pigs during their counselling sessions. They have something so magic about them that lifts anxiety and depression.
Not happy that he describes them as pretty low maintenance 😕 as they are very high maintenance. Glad he at least pointed out how children lose interest and parents need to be the responsible ones ❤
He’s so right about the hypnotic, peaceful feeling of watching guinea pigs. I set up a pig room with a huge open enclosure so they can also free roam in the room. It’s so relaxing to just watch them run and play and nap and get into little arguments with each other. 😅 Sort of like watching an aquarium, except the “fish” will come over for a cuddle now and then. 😆
- Needs large enclosure - Needs playtime on a safe floor space or safe outdoor area supervised in correct weather conditions, and preditor protected. - Possible life span up to 8+yrs - Not a good 'starter pet' - Can be costly, try to always have emergency funds tucked away if exotic vet care or emergency care is needed - Research, continuously self educate, share knowledge and do your best with love:)
Guinea pigs are most definitely not low maintenance. They take a lot of looking after and are classed as exotic pets. They also need more than a small place to live in. Lots of space is so important for piggies to let them run and popcorn. I'm really quite shocked at Dr Scott's comments.
Completely from information about guinea pigs saying they are small animals so you can keep them in small enclosures! And saying their simple to look after which their not Completely wrong information 🙄
Sorry but if the lady on the show wasn’t so nasty to other rescues or sanctuaries she may find herself having some supporters. Seen & heard first hand how bad the abuse is she gives to others. Its sad because it only affects the beautiful Guinea Pigs and the care they need. 😢
So he swapped his depression from a failed marriage (which probably has an issue he needs to address) and he has swapped it for an obsessive amount of pets... no normal person has 80 pets. You can say it's cute all you want, but this isn't a snapshot of a healthy mind. I'm glad his 80 pets make him happy, but he's only burying the actual issue further and further away rather than addressing it and tackling it. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that this is unhealthy and compulsive.
