Your work is really good for one week, I just watched a video of girl who got in 23 universities and only like 3 stuff were interesting or not something you see everywhere and she's going to parsons so unfair

I love your work! Maybe since you don't have to pay for undergraduate you can study wherever you want for masters and possibly get a bigger scholarship the next time. :)
I always knew I wanted to do something with fashion, but never thought of having the oppurtunity to study in a different country. Now as I talked to my parents about it they fully support me financially and I’m finishing my portfolio within 2 weeks as well because we don‘t do portfolios in Switzerlend. Fml I feel u...
@@little.miss.dance.476 Well I watched the video for the same reasons and I‘m still working on the portfolio, but I would say only put in works that you really really love and that represent you as a person. Work on your own style. I think drawings make a huge part so if you‘re good at it show that. There should be moodboards for every project, texhnical flats, sketches of the designs and line ups of your characters wearing the clothes you‘ve just shown in all those drawings before. Also if you‘ve had the chance to do your own clothes, draw or design on alreaey existing clothes, show that. I‘m really into photography, so I‘m showing my photography skills while showing my own designs on my clothes to make it appear even more artistic. As I said I‘m still working on it and not a pro, but I hope this gives an idea of how a portfolio could look.

I really liked the shining piece, it inspired me for a work for my portfolio. Maybe there are other ways of getting into the career you want? Yeah german Highschool don’t really prepare you for art universities, which sucks!!! I am going to apply for CSM later this year and I’m just lucky that I have a great art teacher that is helping me to put together my portfolio.

hey lilith, My parents also saved nilch for my college education. But I got a job and saved it for myself. Meanwhile I developed other skills which helped me excel in my area. There is always a way. Trust me
I admit I'm so scared because I studied fashion in my country but it's not really good for international standards but this was the only thing my parents could afford so... Idk what to do to follow my dreams :(((
What scholarship was it? I applied but I wasn't aware of any merit scholarships available for parsons. Also, your portfolio was really strong for the time you spent on it. So sorry you couldn't go- but congrats anyways!
lilith greta ohhhh I was aware of that but wasn’t completely sure. If you’re still thinking of going or doing fashion, I recommend FIT in New York (which is extremely affordable & even has some same professors from parsons) or there are a ton of scholarships you can apply for international students, I rly hope you can pursue what you wanna do!! Did you also apply to the Belgian school? I'm assuming it was Antwerp Royal Academy of fine arts... I'm trying to find some info on the entrance exam/portfolio requirements there. Beautiful work BTW. Amazing that you made it in a week 😄

I'm in love with this work. TBH I was only focusing on my designs, I didn't know these all things mattered. Could someone please help me out with the portfolio thing? I'm applying for ESMOD next fall :') I'd be really grateful
me: googling OMG, there is scholarship on parsons, lets go apply lets see the deadline!! me after 2-3 minutes: oh just 8000 out of 45grant? okay forget it. Anyway, I am interested in applying to Germany. What do you think of UDK or the university in Niederrhein or the Fashion Design Institute at Düsseldorf?? Please give me advice, I dont know which fashion design school I can take, and which one is the best.
Carla Ban i think udk has the most highly reputed fashion program in germany so that sounds like a good option (but i’m pretty sure you have to know german) and düsseldorf is where a large part of the german fashion industry is at but i don’t really know any specifics about the school. düsseldorf does have a really prestigious art school tho so if it’s affiliated with that that sounds great! i haven’t heard of the niederrhein university. my friend goes to amd in berlin and is pretty happy with the program but it’s a private school so i don’t think it’s free. it is in english tho. i hope that helps you!!
@@sodagoth I dont know how I feel about the Düsseldorf Institute but you should take a look at it too, its private, yet less expensive than usually, plus lot of options to have show in Paris week etc... I didn't know that UDK is so well reputed thanks, they seem to have program more in design or fine arts (my impression only) . I speak german, or maybe I already forget. yeah, amd seems cool but too expensive for my budget.
i wasn't able to apply for csm sadly, it was still too expensive and there were no scholarship options... but csm was the school i wanted to go to most, originally
wdym briefs? i decided to apply a week before the deadline and came up with most of the pieces during that week. i definitely would have taken more time if i could've
lilith greta by briefs I mean a project that establishes the defining aspects of a creative piece of work. I.e. you have a prompt like an idea/question/problem that you’ll have to answer, visually of course, with a select medium.
@@christophernettles2468 the only prompt there was was the parsons challenge where you have to basically extend one of your pieces. and then for the video i put at the end of my portfolio (the link is in the description) we were supposed to do any project with any medium centred around the theme of "night" but this was a project i had to do for an art class in high school and it was already finished before i decided to apply!
I am from italy!Here you choose a specific high school and every subject from that type of school is compulsory.I chose language school,but art school was an option too.I do not regret choosing this school,because I wouldn't want to do art academy (accademia delle belle arti)so bad right now.I still have three years left in high school and in this time i want to improve my skill a lot. Accademia delle belle arti it's not a private school,in fact it costs like a normal university here(which depends on your parent's reddit etc.),first I was scared because I thought that I could do fashion design just in private schools,and I was sad and guilty because I would never have the face to ask such an enormous amount of money. Fortunately public schools exist,and now my only goal is to get better and to learn and get inspired.Your video inspired me soo much.Thank for uploading it💞
Yeah a 3.7 is really good, the only schools that might not like that GPA are Ivy Leagues. I'm trying to do the opposite to get into fashion, I don't feel as if I can get the right experience in the US as I could elsewhere and it's so expensive here.
@@sodagoth I'd like to try to get into costuming in particular, and it's so expensive to film in New York and LA that there aren't many opportunities there. I just don't think it's worth the money here for what you're getting. But, that's specific to my intended path, in part.
