Hi friends 👋I tried to fit as much as I could into this short video, but let me know if you want me to go more in-depth about any of these topics or anything I didn't cover! Thank you so much for watching 💕
Hi are you an internal auditor if you are a technical accountant? How much research and memo writing di you have to do in your other roles? Also, did any of your employers ask how long it took you to complete your degree?
Hi, how important are high grades (GPA of 3.5 and above) in university accounting courses. My daughter is in a co-op program at U of T and is currently looking for an internship (preferably at a big 4 accounting firm or bank)? Also, what is the starting salary for an associate at an accounting firm? Thanks in advance!
Hi Yuki, thanks for sharing great experience. I've been interviewing for California as well, accounting role, but what would SFO Cali, I realized the rents are so high, almost easy 4k, food 2k all works up to probably 8k living expenses a month. So even a 250k salary seems very small and not to mention the homelessness and not too good things in SFO.
I didn't, my team was fine with my Canadian CPA. It could vary from company to company but I haven't had anyone ask if I was going to re-certify for any US roles I interviewed for. Hope that helps!
Thank you for making this video!! I know we chatted about your CPA career in SF last year, but I found this video really insightful :) Can't wait for part 2!
Nice video 👍I am taking CPA Australia exam and planning of moving to Canada. I wonder if the qualification of CPA Australia is useful in Canada (I won’t be going to work in public accounting firm or taxation area for sure). It is interesting to know that a CPA Canada accountant works in the US, as far as I know, US employers mainly look for US CPA holder, correct me if I am wrong. Have a great day.
Anything worth working for is never a breeze to get through. Happy that you stayed persistent and continued until you got to where you wanted to be. If life was easy, it would be no fun. Good luck in California. :)
I am Reshma from India. Who rcenly came to Canada with PR. I am 2 5 now. I have degree in English and MBA in Marketing and HR. i find it difficult to get a job in Canada. I am ready to invest my time on studies which give me better ROI. I would like to gor for CPA. But I dont have any accounting experience. Am I eligible? Can you guide me? Please Answer
Yuki....I see a lot of me in you....my journey has been very similar in many ways to yours though I'm not a CPA. Very honest video....keep up the good work !
Hi! I don’t consider myself an expert when it comes to visas. I know that people from Canada and Mexico can obtain a TN visa and other countries can obtain the H1-B which has a lottery system
Hello Yuki, I stumble across your video and I found it very helpful. I do have a couple of questions that maybe you can answer. The first is can you touch more in the difference of industry and public account. I’m not very versed when it comes to accounting terminology. I recently switch major from nursing to accounting during the pandemic , and I feel I’m far behind on the learning curve when it comes to accounting . Another question I have is where do you even begin to apply for internships without experience. Again I really enjoyed the video it was very informative.
Hi! Industry roles refer to the internal accounting team within a company, while public accounting is working for an accounting firm that provides accounting services to other companies. For internships, most people start out working at a public accounting firm (such as the Big 4) as it gives more experience. Good luck with your switch!
My first two full time jobs were in payroll. I'm currently studying for the CPA and graduated with an accounting degree. Is there any way I can transition to an accounting job?
@@YukiWangRU-vid Thanks Yuki! I've just landed a public accounting role at a small cpa firm. Excited to start my accounting career and nervous as I need to refresh my accounting knowledge.
Thank you for answering my question! ( or atleast i asked a similar question lol) but I find accounting kinda hard, but know the outcome in the end is totally worth it!
It was your question! Although i'm not sure I did a great job answering it haha 😅The best part is that your actual job is much easier than learning about it in class (in my opinion)
@@YukiWangRU-vid I’m doing my degree through athabasca university (i switched from university of calgary once covid hit so i can do school from home) and i find their textbooks for my accounting courses are so bland 😭
My buddy told me. When a church is tax exempt. The gov is paying for the pastors expenses. Car insurance, car payment, gas, etc. Hes telling me if the pastor files all those expenses, he gets 100% of it back when filing taxes. So hes basically telling me the gov is paying for his vehicle payment. This doesnt seem accurate to me. Hmmmmm
