This is a veritable landscape photography extravaganza. First I dazzle you with the richest fall colours you've ever seen, then I take you to two beautiful waterfalls at an enchanted forest. After that I top it all off with a mountain seascape of pure gold.
What could be better than an adventure where I get to shoot with my wide angle lens, my telephoto AND polish off a spectacular drone panorama during sunrise? The only thing that would make it better is some popcorn which I manage to gorge down with the unbridled greed of a life insurance salesman.
However, it's not all unicorns and rainbows. I give you the full scoop on my addiction and health issues, Simon shows his weird food fetish, takes a fall and crashes his drone...twice.
Amanda reveals her insulting plans for my Christmas gifts and seems unimpressed by my dazzling gesture of generosity.
Will I succumb to diabetes and high blood pressure due to my addictions; will Simon ever recover his dignity and does Amanda really think she can get away with giving me a treadmill for Christmas?

Try audiobooks for sleep on youtube or audiobooks in general, take your mind of trying to sleep, pull you into the story lull you to sleep with sheer boredom. I swear by it use to suffer big with the grimsomnia

For SLEEP- What helped me immensely was MELATONIN. 1 or 2 3mg chewables is all you need. I've had lack of sleep due to pain (arthritis) for almost 20 yrs. 1-2 hours sleep, up...1 or 2 again, up...repeat. I actually have gotten a few full 8's with the Melatonin. Natural, and better than more meds you don't need. Hope it helps.

Oh, by the way…regarding insomnia - NO afternoon napping, take melatonin and magnesium - and NO blue screen light after 10 and your sleep will improve. LOVE all the humour in your posts!

I was insomniac for 20+ years. What fixed it in the end was cutting all carbohydrates from my diet. Took 4 days and I slept the whole night, every night. I also lost 10 kilos and I didn't even try. Plus joint pain gone. No shit, seriously. Hope it helps.

Sometimes I wonder why you bother with that fancy Sony. The drone images are spectacular and no heavy breathing, no sweating, no bugs. You don't even have to get out of your chair. Win win!

Hi Gavin , my best mate burned the wick at both ends for years running his business and trying to stay in contact with family and friends spread across the world in different time zones , despite many warnings that his body would catch up with him including driving an RV in Canada with his eyes shut he died here in NZ in a motor accident of his making when he went to sleep in the family Toyota and had a head on with a 4x4. Don’t be that guy, and I know this is going to hurt and initially give you two weeks of headaches you’ve got to give up the caffeine addition , I did four years ago and believe me it made a hell of a difference to my sleep and anxiety levels. BTW love those autumn shots 😀

As dramatic as that sounds, there is a message here. You won't see the effects of go go go until you see them. By them it is a bit too late.... We are really bad at pushing you, we would love to see the next video RIGHT NOW, but that pressure, if you are not sleeping, it is killing you. I was a physician back in my country, I probably do know what I am talking about but that is irrelevant. The business is very important and we all get it, but try and look ahead and see where all these efforts are taking you, not the business, I mean you. Finding the balance is hard, the pressure is big, but disregarding your health is probably not a good plan. Just a though bro. This is Orlando from Vantage Point P. Cheers.

Sorry your not sleeping well, its awful. I got over most of my insomnia with listening to audiobooks as I was falling asleep (soothing ones) and using them if I woke up later. I think the audiobooks got my mind of daily concerns and I could drop off listening to them rTher than trying to force myself to sleep. I cut my screen time, which was getting out of hand and stopped using screens after 10pm. I upped my walking a bit and checked my meds online (in 'users' web sites - the official ones seem to miss what appear to be fairly common side effects) and changed some and am now sleeping OK most nights. Hope you get your insomnia sorted and get back to feeling your usual lively and flatulent self!!

Decaf coffee is essential, no food or drink after 7-8pm. No alcohol - hard but essential. Sleep deprivation is life threatening, particularly in men. This regime sounds tough, but the alternative is tougher. If that doesn’t work, come back to the UK! Less travelling to photo sites and a much better health service.

Throw those carbs in the garbage. Try to keep the carbs under 100 per day, no sugar. Weight and blood pressure will drop quickly. Some nice shots and drone footage is spot on.

It's manageable when it's soft......light. phew glad you completed that sentence 😅 5:20 years of sunrise and sunsets has taken its toll on your sleep pattern. I had similar issues when I worked nights. I could never sleep. The body requires normal sleeping ours, we arnt designed to be awake at all hours. CBD is a good shout for this. Worked for me just to help relax the body. Sounds mad but a few totes on a joint will do no harm either. Like everything, it's fine in moderation and less harmful than alcohol.

That Chuntering Ponce Falls composition by the bridge will look almost as good in early Spring when the new leaves have that light yellow-green glow. Spring runoff might make the stream hard to wade without appropriate footwear though (waders, not flip-flops). Sounds like a good time of year to get up there. 😉

I haven’t slept a full night in years. I did a sleep study that said nothing was wrong and was going for a second one when the world was put on hold but shockingly healthcare in Canada isn’t as good as we tell other countries it is. No appointment in sight. Good luck to you with the issue because I gave up trying to get help in this country

For me, reading a book before bed helps. Insomnia is terrible, you’re not alone 😖 I have the same thing with feeling ill and swollen glads. I ended up quitting my job as a truck driver because I couldn’t sleep. 2 years later after making some serious lifestyle changes things have drastically improved. I’m sure things will eventually ease for you.

As one who also suffers from insomnia at times, I find its usually that I can't turn off my brain, no matter how tired I am. So a few tricks that work for me, some nature music or a movie that I've seen a ton of times. Volume has to be set to a level that distracts the brain but doesn't engage it. Also, caffeine after noon hour tends to be a tough one for me. Hope you can find the cure. Love the video. Simon seems to have warmed up to your shenanigans and he's got a good sense of humour.

Thanks for sharing about your insomnia. It's an awful thing. Had it in college and was down to one hour of sleep some days. It resolved after some issues causing anxiety and depression were addressed. Yoga in the middle of the day helps. Before bed it gets me too pumped up. Maybe I'm weird that way. Oh, and thought I'm sure you've read the advice about not using backlit screens and hour or two before bed, it's worth mentioning. That definitely does help. Really hoping you get the help you need to get on top of this. Truly, insomnia sucks.

I’m sorry to hear about your trouble with sleeping. I ran into a spell of that and was not helped by doctors. You might give meditation a try, and I know it’s blasphemous but caffeine intake was one of my issues.

sleep is a fickle mistress! i recommend listening to Bill Bryson audiobooks, great way to spend the wee small hours.. close the eyes rest the body and feed the mind. Brothers of the Serpent podcast here on youtube is great too, give it a try if you need something to do at 3am! i've recently become a stay at home carer for the wife, and our sleep patterns are ALWAYS fooked.

The autumn colors at the end look amazing, pano was perfect!!! For your sleeping problem, you can try to get a hot tea (no sugar) 1 hour before you go to bed. It works for me!!

Hey @fototripper Insomnia is the worst. Have you tried taking a little melatonin before bed? I sometimes take them and it really helps me. I can get them from Trader Joe's here in the U.S. Another tip, if there are clocks in the room, remove them, these can mess with our mind when we wake up and see it's 2am. It's called sleep performance anxiety, worrying you will not get back to sleep knowing the time. Last, minimize exposure to screens in the evening, the sense of it being dark should get body clock accustomed to bed time and wake time before too long. I hope you can get better sleep.

Apparently I should be discussing your insomnia but I really don't have any solutions for you. But, please reign in your power!! Doctors sometimes (most times) end up doing more harm than good with issues like insomnia. Google up “natural remedies”. You’ll hit things like melatonin, magnesium, chamomile, etc. Lay off the uppers (chocolate, caffeine). One of the very best things for getting to sleep and staying asleep are audiobooks with quiet, soothing readers. I find stories work better than dedicated relaxation recordings. Your mind just starts going along with the story and pretty soon you’re asleep. Setting your player to stay on for at least a few hours can help mute background noise as well. Good luck.

Agree... i've been listening to audio every night for the last two decades.. sometimes, like listening to old Alan Watts lectures, it may help put me to sleep, but if it doesn't, i just try to rest relax and pass the time not sleeping by feeding the mind.

Others may have said it, but get a "sleep study" done to determine whether you have sleep apnea or not. Years ago I began using a dental appliance to help with breathing while sleeping. This made a world of difference at the time, but as the years went by, it became less effective. My sleep quantity and quality went way down. I had my doctor refer me to a sleep clinic for a sleep study. After spending a night wired to a machine which captured various types of data regarding my sleep that night, I was quickly diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. This explained why I could go to sleep but not stay asleep. Getting a CPAP machine changed my life! Sounds silly, but it is true. I had forgotten what getting a good nights sleep felt like. I do admit that using a CPAP takes some getting used to. It may not be easy at first, but once I figured out to make it work for me, it changed everything. I can't get by without it now. So, good luck with your situation. I hope you feel better soon! And, thanks for the videos! I learn a lot!

So, hubby has battled with insomnia. He has found that cutting out his 24oz mocha latte with 6 heaping spoons of sugar and picking up unsweetened jasmine green tea (he likes the Ito En brand) he's had less headaches and slept somewhat better. Melatonin helps him to sleep better on the weekends when he works his doubles. A set routine, turning night mode on (in your apps, phone, and laptop reduces the blue light) he has slept a bit better since. Focus on fueling your body for life instead of fueling to get through the next thing you "gotta do". Oh, and why not learn how to make your own Flip Sides? You can use dulse and reduce the amount of sodium, or just control the salt but add your own herbs to it to make it magnifiqua. As much as we love your content, we want ya to stick around too. Try not to overdo it.

Another fantastic video and shots. I too suffer from insomnia Kevin and I do understand your frustration with sleep. I tend to get between 3 to 5 hours sleep a night on a good night. Awesome shots especially the drone. Amanda finally found someone who appreciates her flake dogs, LOL. Thanks for the laughs and I hope you find a solution to your insomnia. I find routine to be helpful and not engaging my brain in work or activity at night that requires lots of thought. I'm not sure if that makes sense but relaxing the mind as well as the body helps me.

You are truly a master in picking very very compelling photos. I never would have done that waterfall the way you did , being so tight on just the bottom and the falls itself, but you nailed it as you always do. Recto-Verso is one of the way to protect for example money bills. Under the light two uncomplet pictures from both side make a one-completed 🙂

Gavin ... if you like cheese ... put a slice of Swiss, Pepper Jack , or Muenster cheese with some honey mustard on top of the Flip Side crackers ... a Guinness beer washes it down very nicely! I love watching your vlogs and Amanda is the icing on top!

I hear you on the insomnia Gavin. I take 3 medications which I hate, but it was affecting my body like you described on top of always having zero energy. It got really bad in my 20s and I'm now almost 50

I was a very unhealthy man also. But it took two lots of cancer to make me wake up to myself. Now, apart from my face that 2 lots of cancer stuffed up, I am feeling the best I ever had. There is so much we all can do for ourselves. Don't be like me and wait until something terrible happens. Start now. Like growing your own vegetables

As for the sleeping problem welcome to the club! I have not had more than 5 hours sleep per night for the last 20 years. Usually I have far less. It comes with age I am afraid.

Blood pressure is more likely to happen with years of lack of sleep (I am guilty of it), and (with age) overweight certainly adds to it. I got off my meds by loosing a few kilogramms, went roughly 80% vegan and 98% vegetarian. Blood pressure is almost down to normal without the meds. Oh and I do walk a lot, but you probably walk more than I do.

I don't follow directions very well so continued to look for "Recto" until I found them here. Although, ours are "Flipsides" - a little less of a nasty name. (Thanks for telling us both names). But, OMG!! So good!! Luckily, we are on the west coast so you can't buy them out here. ;) Cream cheese. smoked salmon and flips. By the way, CONGRATULATIONS on your 1 year anniversary!! You both did well!! Your videos are our "dessert" on our cocktail RU-vid Sunday.

I understand lack of sleep and there are a few things you could try. Cut out chocolate and coffee. Take a double dose of magnesium and also get yourself some magnesium spray and rub on your feet before bed. Try and not eat after 6pm 7 at the latest. Have a warm shower before bed, not hot just warm. And meditation helps. Stay away from prescription sleeping meds. But get yourself a prescription of melatonin from doctor that is done by a compound pharmacist. Hope you get some sleep soon 😀
