I could've told you that, Boss :D I can totally respect why your parents didn't tell you, and clearly, it worked. Look at all the things you've accomplished and created! Rock on!

The obvious question is how do you go into a focus heavy profession like accounting if you can’t focus? I think the answer is that a lot of folks with adhd can also hyper focus for exams and the like, but don’t do well with the grind aspect.

You'd be surprised about the number of excellent accountants who have ADHD. (Diagnosed and otherwise)

I am an African struggling with adhd in a community that does not know so much about adhd. I have told no one. not even my best friend, cause I know it it's may be hard for them to understand.

I am accountant but I am keep on losing my jobs because the mistakes I make due to lack of focus and short memories. I decided to check if I have it and now I am in the middle of the process but losing jobs and always worrying about the mistakes I make while working make me insecure. Now I am in between jobs and I am scare of searching jobs knowing that I am going to last only few months and with all the humiliation that comes with it when I am working due to the mistakes I make repeatedly and my co-workers who puts me down and ignores me or laughing into my face. Its painful.

It's funny because I was diagnosed with ADHD about 4 months ago (I am 40), but when The Accountant came out we would joke at the office quite a bit about me being autistic. Then when I was being diagnosed with ADHD, the nurse mentioned that I am probably on the spectrum and should get that looked into lol But growing up in the 80s and 90s, ADHD would have been over medicated and zombify me as a child.

I go over budget on almost everything I work on because I catch myself zoning out , I have to log my time to something. Otherwise, I'd just be eating time. Large returns are not as noticeable, but when i get a return with a 5 hour or less budget, I'm gonna unfortunately lose time.

One thing to note with ADHD is that it is usually correlated with a slow processing speed. And processing speed is probably the most important thing you can have to get through a return as quickly as possible so that you bill less time. Thus, partners will probably unintentionally see those with ADHD as understandably not being as profitable for the business.
