This incarnation of Brainiac is NOT to be messed with. He not only destroys Krypton, but takes it a step further by gathering all the remnants of the Kryptonian people and forming his own empire, with a brainwashed Supergirl as his enforcer.
I think what makes Brainiac terrifying is that he is not the most terrifying. He contributed to the destruction of Krypton, but it was mentioned that the planet was destroyed in a war "Krypton couldn't win", which is supposed to be Darkside. This means Darkside destroyed this Krypton, which, if we measure it by Kara, has all of Supermans powers. So Brainiac surviving this is already terrifying
True that Kryptonians were of two sides the Scientist division trying to find a way to get the civilians off world or save krypton from destruction and the Military division which comprise of General Zod and his followers who want to show the supremacy of Kyrptonians
How often do you even see Super Man media nowadays anyway? Games he really doesn’t get any instead they just be making em evil in stories or putting him against Batman most of the time, at least my adventures with superman is the most fresh thing we have gotten in a long while.
But invincible is a way better show with way better characters. Superman is a boring mary sue POS who deserves to be forgotten as there are way better and more interesting superheroes these days, the lack of views and talk from this show is proof of that
Basically Hughie if had Homelander powers but all the Morality and responsiblity that comes from it he learning to become the hero we know he will be in the comics and other animation depicting Superman in his prime but we also like to know did he ever make mistakes and what help him learn his powers and abilities to the point were he handles situation with the care and strategy of the veteran we all look up to
Its funny because he plays Hughie, representing the regular dude coming into the corrupt superhero world, so he plays the most simple-minded clark kent who doesn't want to fight but just wants to help
Anyone else noticed Kara being brainwashed seeing as when you look at here eyes when said robotic voice says comply in the latest episode it loses that spark of freedom and becomes dull I thought I was seeing things at first when I noticed it
My only issue with this season has been the forced drama. Clark and Lois are young adults dating at the peak of their game! They should be DYING to meet each other everyday to... well, you know what couples do. Also it seems many days pass between episodes, so they should have plenty of time to talk. You can't possibly expect me to believe they only see each other at work! "Drama due to miscommunication that could easily be solved with a conversation" is one of my most hated tropes in cinema.
I think this is my favorite design and storyline for Supergirl. She and Jimmy were so cute together. But I did not expect her to be evil. That was a great twist. I’m honestly loving this show. Can’t wait for next week
Honestly, we are talk about a civilization that sleepwalked itself into extinction. They should have a special brand of messed up. I love Kara's armor too.
Kara being fairly different from usual, and a lot more evil is a fantastic idea. Knowing about Braniac, and how Krypton was destroyed it’s highly likely that he and Zod picked a fight with Darksied, and this stupid idea got the whole planet blown up. There has to be someone in the show who covers the “evil Superman” thing, and this is a good way to do that for a while due to Zod probably having been reduced to dust floating in space.
I guess the initial twist with Krypton actually being a conquering planet is somewhat of a twist to those that wanted to believe that Krypton's origin wouldn't be touched. Otherwise, while the series doesn't really do anything too surprising, its still well executed.
You drew the line at the kids? A whole season 1 if everything in season 1 of a superman show? To be fair though I haven't seen this show as particularly realistic like you do
I'm not too bothered by this version of Metalo as, in the comics, one rendition is a literal Kryptonian robot, and if I'm not mistaken, it predates John Corben's Metallo.
I’m so glad you’re covering this show, don’t know why nobody else is. Although I do have to say that their marketing is horrible and is probably the reason to why not as many people are watching this. I literally only found out more episodes were out because of this video
Metallo as another army of generic robots is definitly one the more dissapointing adaptations in this show, especially since they look like any other robot with no distinct features, BUT the fact they introduce Henk Henshaw whose seemingly a recurring character now and shows animosity towards Superman, got me thinking they are setting him up to become Cyborg Superman, which would make me excuse the Metallo. Mostly cause both characters are very similair being human turn into cyborg, just with different gimmicks (one having Kryptonite as power source, the other being Superman imposter), so I think maybe Cyborg Superman might be just take a role of classic Metallo in this show.
Honestly i think season 2 is better than season 1 but has a lot of flaws especially with making metallo a robot is such a garbage idea from the very beginning to its end in my opinion, however I am excited for supergirl storyline with brainac because oh boy this story with Superman and his cousin Kara is going to be super interesting and really amazing in my opinion.
First off, the animation of X-Men 97’ is total MEH! We get it, ya wanna hump your old vhs tapes of it but now your streaming it and the wall socket is giving you a charge. The Superman series itself has a huge anime influence if not in art then definitely in dialogue and story. I’m kinda tired of the constant trope that Kara is “the other Kryptonian” thereby making her lesser or somehow flawed more so than Kal. Kara was around before Kal, she is far more aware of Kryptonian culture, ways and means than Kal. This also should give her a better grasp on logic and critical thinking as Kryptonian society and history has them as one of the most advanced civilizations in the universe and Kara having experienced like 16 years of it before Earth. But whatever…. Another tale of xenophobia and advance vs. ludite ideology. Somehow Earthlings are so “confusing” but yet so “loveable”…. That’s always the “go-to”. I guess it works, it’s just treaded ground and there’s so many other stories we could tell with these characters.
In the fifth episode, Hal Jordon has a cameo. Given Hal's feelings towards Superman, Hal is not aware of the Green Lanterns. After Hal learns about the Green Lantern, he becomes one of the few whom Superman trusts to stop him if he goes berserk either due to under the influence of a Super Villain or voluntary. Second Hero whom Superman trusts is Batman. An ideal for Bruce's cameo is focus on a charity event. Bruce continues to be a Playboy. Oddly as a Playboy, Bruce has a greater sense of respect for women.
I guess the writers forgot about how Superman live in eart longer and has alot of sunlight in his system and shouldn't be losing to kora, plus how did all her powers develop so quickly when Clark is still getting developed in his 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ nonsense story line
Superman hardly tried to beat Kara and was more concerned with keeping people out of harms way. Kara is probably a trained fighter. And even then Kara had to use Brainiac tech to take him down.
Idk why ppl keep comparing this Superman to Invincible when Superman in general has done everything he has already. Man Of Steel even did it before Invincible. Like yall need to REALLY stop saying Invincible did it first
The argument would still technically check out. While you would be correct in the fact that the invincible show came out after Man of steel (2021 vs 2013) the invincible comic line started back in 2003. Tho by mentioning comics I bet there’s a Superman comic run somewhere out there that I’m not aware of that did it before the invincible comic run lol I think both are different enough though that it doesn’t really matter “who did it first” I think they’re both good in their own means.
The man said he doesn’t understand how Jimmy spent $100,000.00 on Valentine’s Day card. Look at the size of the Daily Planet building. The viewers are only exposed to one floor in the entire building and we don’t know the total amount of floors the Daily Planet has. Plus some people believe that when you have more, you should spend more.
Season 2 did what a Good Sequel should do, escalates the Story, Expand the World, and add New Heights than ever Before, the Cast is so Good, the Animation still is as Fluid with Improvements, and we’re seeing New Allies and Threats that will affect the Story going forward, it’s clear that the Story is focusing on Xenophobia, the Sense of feeling a sense of Solitude being Ignored, the Concequeces of our Actions both Good or Bad Intentional could bring Unpredictable Outcomes, Lois is struggling with her own issues with her Father and deciding if she should take the opportunity while feeling Small around Clark, Jimmy needs to learn about Responsibility and his Good Intentions accidentally gave Alex the Push he needed to slowly Evolve into Lex Luthor which is his Best Friend Future Arch Nemesis that has obtained the Tools, Fundings, and Recruits he needs to his Criminal Empire, and Clark has the most weight on his shoulders than anyone when he feels isolated from his Girlfriend, Best Friend, and the World Rejecting Him as a Danger, not to mention he what to see the Only Family he has left from his Dead Planet that could Understand and doesn’t want to regret this Chance the same way he did to Joe-El and yet it would seem like things would get Worse, Brainiac and Kara being the Main Threat of this Season is honestly a Clever Idea that has never been done before and Clark has History there share in any form of Media, plus I love Supergirl in this Version that the CW Version failed as Kara should be more Alien than her Cousin and she’s so Likable, Cute, and Adorable but you also feel this sense that she’s trying to make her “Father” Proud but shows grimaces of Humanity and being Controlled like a Weapon of War, also I was waiting for Jimmy and Kara to be with each other for Years so I would love to see more of them, all in all so Far Half of the Season is Good and I can’t wait for what’s Coming Next as this is Peak Superman.
I agree with your statement but not to be 'that guy'. Could you fix your run on sentences? Im having trouble following you for over half of what was written down. But besides that, you made some valid points
You keep talking about realism and breaking immersion, but i think you and everyone else forgets the important factor: this is a superhero comic show. Getting too deep into realism pulls out a lot of the fun and excitement of seeing the action and waiting with anticipation for the situation with Kara and Brainiac.
@MrMovieMaker116 maybe but was way deeper into the DCAU. This is a new continuity and it's just getting started. And Superman is generally a more fantastic experience compared to a Batman. Though there are still some dumb plot holes and errors like the Hank Henshaw single or married thing.
@@jfb173jb It wasn’t just in JL and JLU. Batman and Superman TAS didn’t have normal people act like charicatures or have non-sensical world building like having children work as staff for a multi-million division of a news company. Lex Luthor was not like Amanda Waller, making bizarre choices and ignoring any advantage that he knew about (Waller not immediately going after Lois when she knew she could use her as leverage). And the fact that Slade KNOWS that Waller caused the incident that cost him his eye and doesn’t seek retribution is unforgivable. It feels like the world is dumbed down where people act like idiots or children with the exception of Clark. It’s just…too much…
@@MrMovieMaker116 its clearly more kid oriented, yeah the original show was for kids but do you want a copy of that and young justice? just turn off ur brain more and dont talk it too seriously
Theory: Hank's wife died in-between the 1st episode and this most recent episode cos superman failed to save her or something but Hank's trying to act all cool about it or he got himself into the event cos superman'd be there. Or him & his wife have a very open relationship (this is on adult swim).
It’s unfair to compare my adventures of Superman with X-Men 97. 1. X-Men 97 is a continuation of one of the greatest shows from the 90s. While My adventures of Superman is new show bringing Superman back to his roots. Especially after the over saturation of evil supermen. 2. Disney is the biggest company on the planet and can afford to splurge on animation. While Warner Brothers have been struggling do to the miss management that’s been going on at the top. 3. Both Marvel and Disney have built up diehard fans that never leave and Disney knows how to fan bait. While Warner brothers and DC has one of the worst splits in fandom history.
Thank you. I agree with you about this review on the animation because the animation for MAWS isn’t the best but it’s damn good for a modern adaptation. Marvel has the resources to produce immaculate animation than DC. As you said X-men 97 is a 27 year old show with plots that were never animated or brought into fruition until now. Plus most people including the show runners of MAWS were most likely worried about the future of this show because it shows on toonami and Max instead of Cartoon Network that has more viewers.
exactly, superman is an outdated POS that is running on life support and is completely irrelevant, there way better superheroes than superman these days, we don't need him and his boring stories. The lack of popularity this show has compared to other superhero shows like invincible and x-men 97 is proof of that.
I hope the animation gets a bigger budget, as you said the action scenes are pretty short. Studio Mir are the animators, the ones behind Legend of Korra. They are very good at animating fight scenes, so it’s clearly just a money issue.
I’ve been waiting for this video! Loving all the Lois & Clark moments. The Alex was Lex twist was a huge relief because it would have been very embarrassing if we guessed wrong! Also, yeah, that twist with Kara was INSANE but not unwelcome.
Episode 5 is probably one of the best (if not the best) episodes of the series so far. I had a strong feeling Kara was the Kryptonian Warrior and Im glad it came true as it makes sense. I really like this take on Kara and how more brash, cold and impulsive she is despite clearly having a good heart and affection for Earth and her dynamic with Jimmy is super cute (I ship them❤️). Im interested to see where they take Kara's character next and what her relationship with Brainiac is as it appears Kara sees Brainiac as her father which is an interesting twist on the mythos, since in other continuities Brainiac is sometimes the cause of Krypton's destruction and stole the Kryptonian city of Kandor for his collection. Btw all the Dragon Ball Z influences in the show are so great, Kara's design looking like Android 18, Kara and Clark fighting like Goku and Vegeta was SO COOL! Seeing Lois and Clark potentially break up is devastating, even if they'll inevitably work things out. They really shouldve had a moment to talk about this. Seeing Lois doubt herself even though Clark loves her no matter what is truly relatable especially in your young adult years and her own abandonment issues with her dad does make her self doubt more understandable. Cat's advice to Lois is also pretty heavy. Btw I took an really loving how the show is handling Lex Luthor as the natural build up to his rise as the villain we all love to hate and him establishing LexCorp all because Jimmy inspired him is truly exciting to see and I took really dig his villainous theme and I like how we get a better look into Lex's philosophy about Superman and how his views are starting to manipulate others in Metropolis like Hank Henshaw who will likely become Cyborg Superman down the line. Honestly I feel like this take on Lex was what Zack Snyder was trying to do with the character in BvS, only executed a whole lot better in this show.
13:30 Neither Jimmy or Lois can debate. They can't present obvious facts in Superman's favor. The only argument they seem to be able to use is "Superman saves people".
3:20 - It's actually been around for a while in the Comics. Superman #8 Clark had a potential vision that Krypton would've conquered Earth same with the New Earth version of Krypton as well.
Kara isn't gonna be a main antagonist, she's obviously reluctant and not wanting to do it, and is pretty obviously being pressured by brainiac, and there's even a shot of her pupils slightly changing right before the frost breath scene
I'm willing to be WB didn't give this show much of a budget, hence why its animation isn't up to the level of Xmen or Invincible. Also, I think Jimmy never asked Kara what her cousin's name is because he wanted to extend their date as long as possible.
For me I think this season is a little bit better than Season One but there's still more episodes to go and that could change, so we'll see. One thing I hope either this season or Season Three reveals is who was the Kryptonian Warrior from Zero Day and where are they now since Kara was still a newborn
I think the show is great, I don't think the X-Men '97 style of animation would work for a show that is still half comedy half action-drama. I wish they had mined more out of the humor in Sam living with Clark and Clark trying to keep his identity secret while also trying to prove he's worthy of Sam's daughter. I love that we got a Supergirl who's far closer to the comics version then the CW one was. Kara didn't grow up on earth and doesn't have the same connection to it that Superman has which helps distinguish her from Clark. Jack Quaid is amazing as he is in everything he does. And I like the Chris Parnell is making a real effort to change the tone and style of his voice so he doesn't sound like Jerry Smith or Cyril Figgis cause in season 1 that really made it hard to take the character of Deathstroke seriously.
I think the series is good but also flips back and forth more than my enjoyment aligns with. The public may mostly be pro Superman at the moment. But pretty much everyone else both official and behind the scenes is anti Superman. Also in this show’s multiverse Superman generally takes over or destroys the Earth. So Clark becoming the hero we’re familiar with while probable is not a forgone conclusion.
I think this show is a nice return to form . They respect the character. They aren't going full on woke and they changed the story up to keep it fresh without sacrificing what's great about superman.. sure the kids being interns is a little farfetched but it is a cartoon after all and the have to put some kids in there so children watching can feel like maybe they would be able to help superman too if he was real..the only thing I don't like is how kryptonians gaving powers on krypton but then they have red sun radiation take superman's powers away . They could argue it's because superman grew up in euth a yellow sun and gets his powers from that like normal . But by that logic a kryptonian that grew up with getting their powers from a red sun should lose their powers under the yellow sun but supergirl didn't seem at all bothered by the yellow sun while on earth
I have 3 video ideas Nintendo Cinimatic Universe Arrowverse but aloud to use characters like Batman, so the Batverse A Marvel animated universe structured like the DCAMU
Here’s a thought if you’re going to make a video that has a major spoiler for the latest episode in the thumbnail… either blur it out or put a spoiler warning in the thumbnail. Not everyone sees everything as it airs
Dude how is the kid interns be the thing you hate the most and how dose it make you lose your emersion this is a show about a flying aline that has crazy powers but the kid interns are the weird thing Idk why you think this
It's also stupid. Kid interns are a thing in real life. Hell, the show is tame in comparison to real life scince they are closer to a school paper then actually kid interns.
is this show for kids? It often feels like it but it's on Adult Swim? I love this show but it's really funny how many great shows are on Adult Swim that would do just fine on Cartoon Network. It's just funny how Adult Swim's management clearly likes cartoons more than whoever manages the main channel lineup.
its due to cartoon networks age rating going WAY down due to the success of shows like teen titans go, stuff for teens either goes on adult swim/HBO or goes nowhere. Same reason unicorn warriors eternal and reruns of regular is being shown on adult swim now.
@@st4pps I've not heard of this network age rating system before? Disney and Nickelodeon still manage to drift around a bit and traditionally Disney is the most sensitive when it comes to keeping ratings mellow. Or are we talking an Animaniacs type scenario where the ad space demographics don't line up. It just seems to me that Cartoon Network canceled both the Toonami and Miguzi blocks a decade ago and then we've seen Adult Swim slowly creep into those time spaces which is ironic as both of those blocks were overseen by the company that does Adult Swim rather than the mainline network. I mean Adult Swim hasn't completely overtaken Miguzi's old time space but it almost feels like it might. I'd presumed Cartoon Network itself mostly auto pilots orders, everything landing on Streaming first kinda makes since as that's the growing market the parent company is courting.
Cara is very different from the comics.... Me: *and I like it* Hopefully she won't decide to live in 3000 years into the future, because ....*sigh* this version of Cara is just too entertaining!
I don't understand why some people for animated shows will be like this looks nothing like this like yeah it's a different show and studio dumby why would they copy
The episode 2 child slave labor controversy will create consequences. When Luthor finds out, he will buy and shut it down because its relevance has lost its way. Not because of their reporting but because of its behavior with its employees and the public.
This show and Unicorn: Warriors Eternal moved to Adult Swim🏊♀️ instead of initially Cartoon Network because it’s likely the only way these shows could get released at all instead of becoming two out of the million tax write offs. So kids CAN watch these shows.
I've always wondered what the MCU would have looked like if it was based around the Defenders isteadnof the Avengers. I think it would look like this. Phase 1 Daredevil. Ironman. The incredible Hulk. Daredevil man without fear. Ironman 2. Thor. Iron First. Captain America the first Avenger. Defenders. Avengers. Phase 2 Daredevil Devils reign. Ironman 3. Thor the dark world. The incredible Hulk 2. Fantastic 4. Guardians of the galaxy. Defenders Beyond. Avengers Age of Ultron. Jessica Jones. Antman. Phase 3 The incredible Hulk rampage. Doctor Strange. Fantastic 4 Annihilation. Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2. Hawkeye. Spider-man homecoming. Thor Ragnarök. Namor. New Defenders. Avengers infinity war. Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Amtman and the Wasp. Silver Surfer. Captain Marvel. Secret Defenders. Avengers endgame. Hawkeye 2. Spider-man far from home. This is how I'd do the Infinity Saga, but I'd like to see you do a verse.
I do not like season 2. It feels like things are either rushed and/or dumbed down. Between the child workers, the many missteps of Waller and Sam, Lois’ insecurities, the unseen ‘rise’ of Lex Corp, the convenient coincidences and unexplained developments it’s just not good. That doesn’t mean to say it has NO merit. Clark’s article about Steel and the two of them teaming up were great moments. I just think that this show has failed to live up to its potential and the legacy of its predecessor. This has become a kids show masquerading as one for both adults and kids.
I really dopn't like the stylized S. It doesn't even look like an S. It looks like two lines. I am also not fond of the Superman Red/Superman Blue overtaones.
I actually like this shows art style and animation a little more than x men 97. X men 97 has amazing set pieces but sometimes it looks like stills with moving mouths. This show has an anime fusion aesthetic that is incredible
Tbh I think Jimmy is probably spending money too much on overly expensive things (the valentine cards thing may also refer to other stuff that he spent money on shown in that scene but not as obviously which is why the money went down so much).
I like it, but anime and anime-like artstyles have never been my favorite. Nothing against the show itself (besides how generic most of the villains look)
