So does that mean every single anemone on Earth is just a clone of the first anemone to ever evolve? That they're all technically 550 million years old?
No because occasionally they like to spice things up with giant reef wide orgies xD This mix of asexual with a hint of sexual reproduction is evidently enough to keep them in step with their ecological niches and why there are more than a 1000 different species of anemone.
@@andyr8577 cloning and reproduction are not the same, with cloning its copy paste, with reproduction alot of information in the dna changes because of a surplus of information also other factors can cause slight changes in the dna passed on
That's awesome. I've had a tank running for 12 years and I want an anemone. Doing lots of research, just can't pull the trigger. Also have a pair of clown fish that have been in there since 2012.
Idk if I would do it then, the clown fish probably doesn't have the thickness anymore doe produce the saliva to not get stung. Warning it can Happen had a friend who got a decent size one and it killed his that was his dad's clownfish, his parents and theirs didn't have thay symbiotic relationship anymore.
@@TristanBarnes-gr9wt thats bullshit. If they cant stand it they will not go into it. I have a pair that was bred in my country and never seen an annemone in years before i got them from the previous owner. I pushed them into my big annemone and they never been that happy. They sleep in it every day since then.
@@coralfish12g I am currently having my mini carpets split and it is the most exciting thing, I didn’t even know this was a possibility until I noticed some odd movements and looked into it
The fact these oddities are able to split apart to reproduce and are actually mobile is incredible on three fronts. Fascinating, perplexing, and creepy. A cornerstone triad of any science field, not least of which being marine biology.
Anenomes are one of the weirdest animals but they are so cool. I never think of them as animals and the fact they are living breathing thinking creatures is awesome
DUDE! I've never seen an anemone move like that, only heard about it. Thanks so much for showing that as well as the division, never seen that before, amazing!!!
I love all things ocean...this is new to me.. how fricking awesome is that! The splitting and triplets?! Sooo cool! Now if you'll excuse me.. I need to go watch a countless amount of anemone videos 😂😂
I DIDNT KNOW THOSE WERE ALIVEEE😭😭😭I would squish these in my hand at the beach I thought it was a plant like seaweed😭I’m VERY disgusted with myself. I mean very.
@@jackiehoetaI know they're alive and yet I still ripp Flowers bc they're beautiful so I press them. Still ripp out grass as a stim, to either calm down or just bc it's southing me. I'm also a plant-eater and have no regrets, I'm thankful, for my meal, even though there is proven evidence, that plants might have a consciousness, I rather eat them than animals? (P.S.: sorry for the rant)
Believe it or not, anemones can also swim with their feet. It's really clumsy and they're mostly at the whim of the currents, but when in serious danger they can detach their feet and move their bodies to lift off the floor and swim a short distance.
Wow... if the filter literally sucked in *every* anemone across the tank (they have surprisingly good grip on rocks) either he has _ridiculously overpowered_ flow for the tank's size, making it more a saltwater "washing machine spin cycle" than anything that can be called _an aquarium..._ Or he bought them one at a time and kept repeatedly placing them directly in front of an uncovered filter intake that he _just watched_ suck up the one right before? 🤔 In *either* case, idk if he's got enough "going on upstairs" to even _be capable_ of maintaining a saltwater aquarium lmao 💀😂
Wow very cool i always dreamt of having a salt water tank mainly with these types of things. Like cloning plants it is the same thing but drawn out and over a long period of time. So cool i love this system he sells.
It’s so crazy to think about the fact that some animals have superpowers. How cool would it be if we could replicate a limb or reproduce without a mate. Life would be complete if I could fly😊
