Until 1999/2000, most anime were filmed on cels. In this video, I show you my anime cel collection. I used to collect anime cels between 1994-2005 and stopped around the time they got rarer (and really expensive).
Late to the party, but the Gundam cel in 5:30 is from V-Gundam or Victory Gundam and the main characters name is Uso Ewin. So nostalgic to see anime cel collections again. I still own a few nice pieces of cels from the original HXH series, and Genga/Douga from One Piece, Inuyasha, etc.
Sailor Moon cel is from episode 91 (Season 3, second episode of that season), around 21-22 minute, basically near the end of the episode. Wonderful cel.
Fun to see all the things otaku collect! My favorite anime aesthetic is definitely that refined cell shaded stuff from around the mid 90s and late 90s, with the delicious graininess that I can't get enough of.
I One of my favourite anime aesthetics is the one from the mid- to late eighties in shows like Maison Ikkoku, but I love more realistic art styles in movies like Akira or Patlabor 1/2. God, I wish I had a nice cel from those iconic movies!
@@Swiss_Bohemian Hello I am selling a Escaflowne Anime Poster autograph by Shoji Kawamori and director of the series plus the English dub actors for the series. Also a lupin the third cel signed by monkey punch. Message me if I interested. Thank you
Thanks for sharing your collection. I have a mid size collection that's lot like yours as well; mainly Rumiko franchises and a couple of Ghibli cels. In fact I think my Taeko cel is only a few frames removed from your one.
It really depends on the anime. Cels from your average TV series from Toei Animation such as Dragon Ball Z or from AIC Animation were usually around 40-80$, but could also reach as up as 200-300$ if it were exceptionally good cels with backgrounds. Cels from OVAs like Record of Lodoss War or Oh My Goddess were more expensive, easily exceeding 100-200$ if a popular character like Deedlit was in close up with open eyes. Cels from holy grails like Akira have always been expensive. Nowhere like the prices today, but expensive enough to be out of reach for me back in those days.
Damn, son, that's some UY devotion going on. 😝 Also some great Ranma pose going on. Ishtar's design IS hot. Plus, the OP is top-goddamn-notch. Hell, all the music. Because of course Shirou Sagisu. Fio 2nd best Ghibli Girl. I desperately need a Kyousuke cel from Episode 5. (Have one of Ayukawa alone, and one of her and Kyousuke on the bench at the end. I need to make it all happen.)
Wow, I know which scene you mean with both of them on the bench. I envy you for having a cell of such an important scene ^^ I wish I had a nice mid to close-up cell of Madoka in her red swimsuit when she's on the deserted island with Kyosuke (ep. 19).
Fake cels are rare. I have never seen one myself, and when a cel is fan made, it's usually mentioned in the japanese description and you can tell by the artwork itself. There's no 100% guarantee to get a legit cel unless it comes with a small certificate from the production studio, which is rare. Original production cels usually have a some letters and numbers on the top right corner of the cels (for example "A12"). Some have faded brownish outlines (which once were black) which is proof that a cel is old. To make sure you're not buying a fake, there's usually no other way than to look up the scene in the anime itself, for example on bluray. If you're lucky, there's some pictures in anime magazines, artbooks or anime books which contain the cel you're interested in, or very similar ones. Hope that helps!
@@Swiss_Bohemian crazy as it sounds, actually i'v had it since I was a child. I'm sure it's worth some kind of money, however I don't have the slightest idea where to start.
Back in the day I used to buy cels directly in shops in Switzerland or France, via mail order and even through a pen pal. Nowadays most people buy cels from auction sites such as yahoo auction japan.
