Monica has been married for over 20 years. Her marriage was tough not because of her husband but her father and mother in law. At one time, they burnt her house demanding that she goes back to parents...she wasn't the perfect wife for her husband.
At one time, Monica lost her one year old baby. She died at around 8am in their house. The father-in-law forbid villagers from entering Monica's homestead to condole with her or even remove the body. He stood at the gate with a panga waiting for anyone to dare. Monica stayed with the body the whole day and the whole night..all this happened in the presence of the area's sub-chief.
Two days after the burial of her child, Monica's dog was lying outside her home. Her mother-in-law came, cut the dog into two and buried it in Monica's daughter fresh grave!
This is part one of Monica's painful journey with her laws....this is her story.

Weh when I tell you cried watching this story, I really did😢😢 This lady is a good person because all through the story, you can hear how neighbors were trying to help her. My take on this story is that it's okay to cut off toxic relatives. Njeri and her husband should have moved out of that household when the baby died. They should've gone and started a new life in a different county, Kenya is a big country. Another thing is that those inlaws were going to church, which goes to show that going to church doesn't necessarily mean that the person is binding by the religious beliefs. Weh, this was not an easy story to watch, and I comend Kagoni for how she conducted the interview tondu weh, ti kuhuthu😢😢😢😢

My thoughts, but remember some men don't know how to remove themselves from the rules of their parents. Again, having no money, but anyway, this lady should have left that home the moment she noticed the toxicity.

It’s seems like the husband was raised up in a very toxic household where both parents were aggressively abusive and mentally unstable it could be he also needed a lot of help and support but had nowhere to run too. Most of this children are very lost in life and don’t know when is too much/enough. The woman could have left this family immediately after losing her first child nothing could justify her stay nothing!

This is depressing to watch😢😢why would you subject yourself to such psychological trauma, there are somethings which should never be tolerated 😢😢 at least you should have moved to another place far away from the toxic inlaws I know it might not have been easy but again mental health is very important..God how do one heal from such experiences😢😢 this will take years of therapy for those wounds to even start healing 😭😭

Hi Kagoni, this story you have unearthed can dissect our societal ills in multiple levels. probably you don't understand what you have given the society to reflect on. This story can be looked at different angles, such as social, economic, political, academic and poor management of health resources. If you have not written a book, this is your first one. All these is happening in the circles of great institutions, vs St Francis Girls around the corner, Mary Hill along the highway, and of course the ancient Kagabwa church. This woman is suffering, she is alone in this ordeal ( societal decay), If we can identify, the family, individual, community and health assessment missed for 20 years, we can benefit the community at large.
