it is honestly so beautiful how incredible you two are as parents ... just the little intentional things you guys do like writing letters for kaia to read one day and making a baby scrapbook for her is so heartwarming, because it is going to mean so much to her, and she'll cherish it for the rest of her life. i wish my parents did things like this for me, because i feel like I'm just disconnected from my own childhood, and don't have that many pictures. what a lovely family you guys have, so happy for you

I feel like I just brought my daughter home from the hospital yesterday....and now she is 19 years old, living on her own n her 2nd year at college. I get so emotional and happy when she comes home...it fills my heart. So, enjoy each day....and each season because they are all different and special and time flies so enjoy it!

my baby girl would have turn 1 year old in march this year… sadly she died at the end of my pregnancy, she was born sleeping. Jess saying how she feels happy getting to see her baby girl grow and acknowledging the blessing of celebrating birthdays made my heart really warm ❤ I hear so many people always saying they want their children to stop growing and staying little and it makes me sad.. they have no idea what they are saying and how much it hurts us loss parents. I know exactly how you feel when you're crying about her growing up. I have a 19 month old. I've learned to call it "a good mommy cry" haha. It'll keep coming with the milestones, like first time in the crib, first time sleeping on her own (without rocking and things), first time in the church nursery, first time doing this and that. It's so bittersweet, because there's so much joy and pride that they're growing up strong, healthy, and happy. But agh! We want them to stay so sweet and little all the time and they don't. That's okay. I've asked other moms how to cope with the "overwhelming emotions" that come from this. As a Christian, I was reminded to look at the eternal perspective. They grow up and they're a soul entrusted to you, that you may grow them up in the fear and instruction of the Lord. Focus hard on the eternal, how you'll love and discipline and model the obedient Christian life for your daughter. Think of colossians 3:1-4, and the rest of the chapter, it tells how to live. I was also reminded that motherhood is a gift, but it's also not for my own selfish desires. I've found in not wanting my daughter to grow up, I tend to hold her back from pursuing the next milestone, like sleeping in her own room. It's driven by fear and selfishness, knowing that she will sleep better but I want her to stay with me. That's just an example. I hope that's helpful to you. Some things to consider from a mommy who's a little ahead of you :) my mistakes and learning and counsel I've gotten. Enjoy your sweet gift to the fullest, as I will enjoy mine!

I did a scrapbook for my nephew for his 1st birthday. I literally had 500 plus photos of his first year of life and I did it month by month and it is such a memorable keep sake. Now he is 2 and it’s like where has the time gone ! Love the little moments of him learning though it’s amazing to be a part of that

Something I always like to say to parents who will miss their kids being little is that though they will never be that age again, their are so many fun ages and memories to come! My mom sometimes misses when I was little, but she always says that each age is special. There are so many more years and memories for you to make with her! I think the feeling that they will never be that small again is an ongoing thing, as Kaia will always be gaining new experiences and exploring new things. :)
