I am 20 weeks and my doctor told me i have this at my 20 week ultrasound a couple days ago. But she says he’s healthy and he’s measuring big lol so that must be good. ❤
I'm so glad this video helped you, Aviva. I know how challenging the roller coaster of emotions can be because you love your baby so much. Sending hugs to you!
I didn't know about this condition of baby having a marginal cord insertion either until I was diagnosed with one. It is very rare, but the good news is that it usually causes no complications. Thanks for watching!
I have marginal cord insertion and baby is weighing small compared to the average weight percentile. At 34 weeks baby weigh 4 lbs and 4 oz. Dr insists on inducement but I don’t think it’s necessary. Any advice?
Hi Chyna! From what I learned and understand from my experience, one of the problems that could arise from a marginal cord insertion is that the baby may not be getting all of the nutrients needed so may have a risk of weighing small. I assume the doctor wants to induce you to help baby get more nutrients after baby is born. I would clarify this with your doctor. Sending all our love and prayers to you and baby!
Thank you for this video! I was just told I have a marginal cord insertion. I’m staying off google but I still wanted to know more. This was very helpful.
I have a question because something in your video surprised me. You Said the baby with the marginal cord insertion also had a short umbilical cord. So my first baby was born with a short but normally inserted cord and my second baby was born with a marginally inserted but normal length cord that was not diagnosed before birth. I always assumed there was a genetic correlation between the conditions and I would like to find out what the cause of both my babies having different umbilical cord defects is before I attempt to have another. Did you get any kind of genetic testing done? When my first baby was born and they attempted to put him on my chest like they do in California the cord was so short it felt like it was ripping my insides out, so I asked them not to do this when my daughter was born and they acted like I was crazy until they had to pull her out because of the undiagnosed marginal cord insertion. If you had one with both it proves the conditions are correlated and that my fears were valid. I found your video just trying to explain to someone what the condition even was.
Hi Adrienne, Thanks so much for your comment and question. I didn't do any genetic testing. When I had my third baby, the cord was normal and I was able to do immediate skin to skin with baby. (In my second and third pregnancies, I had a subchorionic hematoma.) I have tried researching marginal cord insertions too and it is hard to find a direct correlation to explain it. Sorry that is not more helpful! Good luck mama!!
@@TheFifeLife I read very quickly and although I had to drop out of college I did study biology and understand a lot of scientific terms. If I find anything linking these conditions I will also be linking the article to you. I hope you see linking under linking like I am seeing as I typed, that was cute and I hope it appears the same too you.
I didn't have a C-section. Delivery was typical except I couldn't hold my baby right away because the cord was too short to reach with baby on my chest. Let me know if you have any other questions!
We had our 20 week yesterday and found out Baby has MCI. But she is in the 97th percentile for growth and measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule. They think it may be a growth spurt but going to see a high risk doctor in a few weeks. Thank you for your feedback!
