I started to dance on pointe a couple weeks ago. This is still new for me. But I am enjoying the process of learning and becoming a better ballerina. Love my ballet teacher miss Val and all hard work she is putting into me.

Serious Ballerinas are no joke! They are hardcore athletes, and Ballet training makes everyone a better dancer, even if they are not performing Ballet as their primary style of dance. Kudos to you for be willing to put in this hard work to make yourself an even better performer!✨💖✨

Thank you so much for letting us watch your ballet lesson. It was very enjoyable, and it is obvious you have an excellent instructor. I hear you on your hands. I am primarily a flutist but also play piano and other instruments, and am a typist. Sixteen months ago I broke my right hand and also injured three fingers severely. I recently completed a year of hard occupational therapy, and still do home therapy, which I will always need to do. My hand is probably 90-95%, but joyfully, I am able to play flute, piano, and type (also very important for what I do) as before, and those are the important things. Everything else and even residual pain at times is secondary. It took a long time, however, and it was terrible to not be able to bend my fingers for months. So I hear you, absolutely. *In fact, in your situation it might be wise to insure your hands.*

No, she cannot do 'anything', but what she does do, she does well. .. There is only so much time in a day, just so much time in a life. .... The point is to do what one has a passion for as well as one can. .. We all have limitations, be it financial, or ability, or family support. ... Karolina is just blessed with having a greater set of parents than millions of other children.

Take care, Karolina, and in your down time, please take care of your feet, because you'll really need them when U get older.🙂🙏🇺🇦🇺🇲❤️

How is your straddle ? Can you do a full straddle split with your legs turned out? What about a frog stretch? My advice would be to work on your turnout with exercises and stretches as when the steps got harder during your lesson your legs were turning in and you don’t want that to become a habit as I know you’re aware of how important it is to have proper turnout to complete ballet steps properly. Your feet will get used to the shoes and will build up so it shouldn’t be as painful. Also the jumping onto your shoes will dig down more on your toes instead of the gliding and pushing through the floor (think the echappes you did at the barre) so it’s good you’re working on that! Having really strong pointe basics will help so much so don’t feel the need to rush into complicated things. Better simple and done well than too hard and can injure yourself. Keep up the good work. Love listening to you play the violin too!

I 💯 agree! Ballet 🩰 is always started when young before puberty. However, it is usually preferable to already possess a natural ability; small frame, totally loose legs, and perfect balance and control. Obviously I do not agree with young children on pointed. However, Karolina's dancing with her violin 🎻 was very appealing and 100% organic and natural. I don't think Karolina should be doing pointe and I'd suggest she gives up pointe, but ballet 🩰 is otherwise excellent!

Amazing!!! I've danced, on and off, for about 10 years or so, and 5 of those years, I was in pointe shoes as well (which doesn't happen very often, but I managed to convince the director of the dance school where I was taking said ballet lessons for me to try it, during a summer intensive, and then towards the end of the summer intensive, I asked her for her honest opinion and she said that she was worried that I wouldn't have enough strength in my ankles to be able to support my being up on full pointe, but that it wasn't an issue for me. So she invited me to take the Pointe I class with the rest of the girls, and so I did. (and then stayed in Pointe I, due to that I wasn't able to nor ready to advance (pirouettes en pointe is REALLY hard!!!), and also due to scheduling conflicts (between my work schedule and the dance class schedule for Pointe II). (And I've also met a lot of wonderful people along the way as well, some of whom would mock the fact that I was too chicken to let go of the barre when training for pirouettes en pointe, but that was all in good fun. They are very supportive that I was even IN their class to begin with.) Keep working hard on your basics. I think that I was able to see that at various points, you were still shaking a little bit when you are up en full pointe. A good exercise that I found that helped develop (in part) the strength of your ankles to support your pointe work is to do this: Starting in first: Slide your right foot along the floor until you have to lift the heel up, but keeping the ball of your foot still on the floor. As you extend your tendu out further, you will eventually come to a point where you HAVE to go up on your toes. And then reverse the process by leading with your heel and bring your foot back, where you have to roll through and articulate from your toes back down to the ball of your foot and then still leading with the heel, drawing your foot back, until you're back in first position. Repeat en croix. And then repeat for second, fourth, and fifth. And then you repeat the entire exercise en relevé, demi-pointe. The focus of that exercise is two fold: 1) The articulation of "rolling" ONTO pointe and 2) that you're not "JUMPING" nor "hopping" up en pointe, but rather you are stretching your leg out as far as it will go, and then to make it go even further, you go up en pointe, which stretches out the line of your leg even further. It has been my experience, especially when I was starting out en pointe, that to get up fully onto the box of your pointe shoes, that you are trying to "jump" on. The problem with that is when you "land" from the "jump", you're going to be smashing your toes into the ground. This is one of the reasons why pointe can hurt so much. Whereas, if you think about it more like you are ROLLING ONTO over top of the box of your pointe shoes, then it hurts A LOT less. (Believe me, I had the ouch-pouch as well, and I also bought lamb's wool to stuff into the front of my pointe shoes --- anything to make it hurt less.) re: turns (chaînés, pirouettes, fouettes) The trick that I've found when I was trying to get better at my pirouettes and turns in general -- Practice them when you are microwaving food and waiting for said microwave to be done. Depending on the layout of your kitchen, usually you might have a decent amount of open space where you would be able to practice your chaînés or pirouettes without hitting something/someone. And then to practice how to spot your turns, I used the microwave as the "thing" for me to focus on (because I also typically have to dance WITHOUT my glasses) so not only is everything super blurry, but I still need to be able to manage to find my spot when turning. So, since you're standing there, waiting for the microwave to be done anyways, you might as well pull some turns out whilst you're waiting. You keep doing that over and over and over again, and then you'll get better at finding your center and your balance, and being able to execute the turns, whether it's chaînés or pirouettes or fouettes. And the same goes with practicing getting up onto your relevé with your ballet flats as well in the snap of a finger. The idea with that is you just practice going from any of the ballet positions, and then SNAPPING into the relevé position really quickly, in the snap of a finger, because that's what you'll need to be able to execute a pirouette successfully. (When I was training en pointe, I was in a total of two technique classes PLUS the pointe class per week. Luckily, dancing as an adult meant that I can take the questions from my pointe class into my intermediate I class, and if I had more questions, that I need it "broken down" for me, then I would ask my "dumber" questions in my adult ballet class.) And it's IMPORTANT to ask your questions, because the most unintelligent question is the one that isn't asked, especially when it comes to ballet, and especially when it comes to pointe. (Because if you miss a step in your ballet flats, not really a big deal. If you miss a step in your pointe shoes, then you can potentially come crashing down, and that can be a really big deal, so it is super critical to ask whatever questions you have.) I struggled with pas de bourrée and pas de chat for a LONGGGG time. It's been said that "ballet is the pursuit of perfection without ever actually truly attaining it." So take comfort in the thrill of the chase. That's how you will get better at it. And yes, POINTE is super hard!!! I used to joke with the slightly older girls that the reason why ballerinas are always smiling when they're dancing is 1) because if you don't your artistic director will hunt you down and 2) because you're high on the endorphines from the pain of dancing in pointe shoes. :D :) Keep up the good work though! Have fun. Enjoy it! (I have many fond memories of when I used to take ballet classes and pointe classes.)

Can't wait until you get good enough at ballet to play your violin at the same time. That would be very special. I don't think anyone has ever done it. Both take so much talent and practice.

@@greywolfwalking6359 She is obviously a super talented young lady. When she talks though, I am struck by her childlike quality vs the adult level of talent in everything she does. She will mature! I'm wondering if she will attend a place like Julliard, or continue with private instruction in violin, piano, voice, and ballet. With her RU-vid income, she could employ the best teachers. However, music school would offer her a lot of intangibles and allow her to network with other super talented young people. I think she should go, though that is 5 years in the future. I think she should go into Pop music as that is where the money and fame is, Does she want money and fame? Pros and cons! People like Andrea Bocelli can go either way. She could too.
