Bana grass (it's pronounced bar-nuh as in banana, not "banner") is a fabulous fast-growing fodder crop. It's a hybrid and doesn't flower, only reproducing from cuttings. It grows a metre per month! It gets so tall that it falls over, then the stalks all sprout too. Roots go up to 5m deep, so really good in drought. It was planted on roadsides as windbreak all over the Northern Rivers (Tweed) district when I moved here 50 years ago but is nearly all gone because of development. Very easy to clear with glyphosate where it's not wanted.
