You will be sooo happy with the Cassavetes box set. It is the best thing I own by far. He is the master. The only 'bad' thing about the set is The Constant Forge. It reveals hardly a thing about Cassavetes as a man, and just repeats everything you have already heard about his filmmaking.
Please keep up the criterion videos. You have a good voice for this. I'm excited to hear your thoughts on the films. Interested on what you think about Night of the Hunter, The Thin Red Line, Black Narcissus, Double Life of Veronique, Solaris, and F For Fake. Keep up the good work! Make more videos!
Diabolique is one of my essential criterion awesome film, The Wages of Fear is badass. The Cassavetes set imo is the best boxset criterion have man great haul
The Cassavettes set is expensive but worth it, an essential to any collection. I picked it up in July's sale. I thought you were gonna say Blood for dracula costs $3k to buy but you said to make. Both statements are accurate lol. You gotta have some B-movie cheese, I mean the masterpieces come first but it's good to break up the monotony of classic after classic. I ordered the Monsters and Madmen set to make something like my 10th box set I picked up this sale.
enjoyed your video. I rented le samourai and would consider buying it. I was hoping you were going to crack open the case to display the booklet that comes inside
I love Le Samourai, but I'm holding out for a BD. The Wages of Fear is one of my favorite films of all time, I got it at the last sale. Did you get The Three Colors Trilogy and Fanny and Alexander on BD? Great update!
You wont regret buying Le Samourai if you enjoyed Le Cercle Rouge. I am a UK buyer, so got an even longer wait than yourself :( The Cassavetes boxset is so great, I actually own the UK version (which is nearly identical) but always wanted the Criterion set....maybe next time round, because I have spent far too much (again) on this sale.
I have 8. Tokyo Drifter (39), Brazil (51), Rushmore (65), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (175), House (539), The Darjeeling Limited (540), Cronos (551), Godzilla (594).
Hi mattySdown, can you give me some tips in terms of criterion collection how you decide when to buy blu-ray and when to buy dvd? Usually when you can get the film on blu-ray would you pick them over the dvd edition? and does blu-ray make dvd edition obsolete? or are the dvd's just as good?
