Hello everyone! :) I received a lot of questions about Berklee so I decided to make a Q&A video and answer the questions that repeated a lot! Hope it will help some of you. You can watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2PMbgfkVrkA.html . Have a good day and good luck with your audition! :)
Marco Carranza Marco! Congratulations :) what a great news :) I hope you will have an amazing time at Berklee and if you need any tips - you know where to find me. Good luck 👏
@samarth and samriddhi Tripathi I prepared 5 min but they stopped me at 4. So I would say prepare something that'll blew them away in the first minutes. Best luck!
Thank you so much for the advice. It eased my mind a bit on it. My audition is on April 24th. Hope I get in with a full scholarship. Update: I got in with a scholarship of $23,000.
You are correct! I have watched many videos about Berklee! I'm not even going there. My daughter is and I don't think she's even seen as many videos about Berklee like I have. But since she was 13 she started writing songs. At 15 she released her first song (FYL) on Spotify and all the other streaming platforms. That one song is almost at 8 million streams! Anyway, she is there and is loving everyday at Berklee. Thanks for sharing your experience! In case you ask, my daughter goes by LEANYS on all streaming platforms. Have a great day!
I successfully auditioned for Berklee last summer and even won a scolarship but even with that I couldn’t afford it... so I am auditioning again soon and I’m pretty stressed because I am afraid that I won’t get any help or look worse that the last time... aah
@@ilovepandaswithcandy honestly i think it’s 50/50 bc it was my first audition/interview so i was super nervous but everyone was so nice omg the interviewer was literally the sweetest woman
Congratulations! You did it!! :) I’m glad my video helped you feel calmer. It means the world to me!! ❤️ let me know when you get the results. Fingers crossed ☺️🙏
when you’re auditioning to be voice major are the only test sections singing, sight-reading, melody&/rhythm repetition, and then the interview? thank you for posting such a detailed video 🥺
I auditioned with a operatic classical piece and a jazz piece with my own improvisation. I really took a risk with that classical piece. I hope I get a full tuition scholarship. I think I'm afraid that I won't get in at all Hahaha. Jitters.
Hey I'm a 15 year old guitar player and drummer, I've been playing since I was 6 and I started playing on stages when I was 10. Any advice for a Berklee Scholarship?
Such a helpful video! Did you attend Berklee after your 2nd audition to take a bachelor's degree? And can I ask where you are from? I think Berklee sounds amazing, but I would have to apply internationally and it's quite hard to navigate the American college sites. Thank you
Hey! Thanks for watching ☺️ I did! I went to berklee after my 2nd audition. And I come from Poland 🇵🇱 I hope you can figure it out. It is a bit difficult :( but I believe in you :) good luck!! 🙏
Hi! I’m a senior in hs and my dream school is Berklee, but my second choice is UNT. So, you can imagine how happy I was when I heard you went to both! What was your experience transferring schools? Was it easy? I’ve heard some things about Berklee not accepting all transfer credits.
are you an international student? (you mentioned your mom calling you from Poland, it's actually where I'm from too) I'm wondering if I have to do the in-person audition if I can't afford to fly to the us just for an audition?
Hi, thank you for such a helpful video! I’m trying to navigate the application process itself and was wondering if you had any advice for the personal statement/ supplementary materials section - I was thinking to do the personal statement as a video, for supplementary materials how many songs did you add for this? I’m so confused 😣
Hi there! I a singer songwriter and slightly confused about which city to move to la or london? I do pop, acoustic rnb and country please share suggestions….
Do you know if the interview is in English? Cause before the pandemic they would come to my country and do the auditions there, but now is online and I would prefer to speak Spanish
Hello! Thank you for such an informative video! I am Soumya Nair from India, student of music. I am planning to study music further at Berklee and will be auditioning soon. Had a few queries: I am mainly a vocalist and I am not very comfortable playing an instrument, so I am not very familiar with the sight reading section of the audition. So will it become a cause of disqualification? Thank you🤗
If you’re applying for vocals, you’ll be asked to read and sing the notes in the sight singing section, I suggest learning theory music, it’ll definitely help ya, I’m also looking forward for Berklee
Hi, may I ask how long did it take for you to get your decision? I am so nervous and anxious right now. Some people told me it’s gonna take two weeks and some told me it’ll not be issued till the exact day of March 31st. If it’s about two weeks then I hear from Berklee this week. If it’s March 31st then it’s gonna be 7 weeks for me to finally get my decisions. That’s just too much for me... Thank you for your help in advance.
I auditioned mid February and got my decision exactly on March 31st so it may take them some time Try to think about something else and don’t wait for the decision cause it’s not going to help it all :) you already did your most important part - you auditioned! :) so let it be and I’m sure it’s going to be ok
Hi ! I will soon be auditioning for the first time for Berklee and I will present 2 pieces (1 of 3 min and 1 extract from a composition of mine of 2 min) and I wanted to know if the 5 min of the "prepared piece" had started when do you play? Or does it start as soon as he welcomes you? (so you would only have a few minutes left) thank you for your answer! E.L.
What happens if I want to get into the major of songwriter, but not as a singer songrwiter? Like, I can sing a little bit but not wow. I have two years left, but I'm already stressing about it as well as my poor instrument knowledge.
Hi, thanks for the video! Would you please advise if a candidate can sing a song of any language? I'm a Bengali. Can I perform Indian classical or a Bengali song in the audition? I'll very much appreciate your advice.
Hey! Thank you so much for the information.. I'm a self taught guitar player and never went to music school/college. It's my dream to graduate from there and do my PhD from there but i cannot afford so much fees. I want the full time scholarship. Please help me ma'am! I'm gonna give my all !!
Hii Im from Brazil and I really want to get into Berklee. Music is my passion, but my question is. Do I need a band? Because as I said i’m from Brazil so how could my band fly with me to the US for the audition?
I am planning to apply for berklee graduate program in music education in May 2024. I am learning Indian Classical and semi classical Vocals since last 10 years and i know it defines me better. Will berklee accept it if i present a piece of the same genre mentioned above in the audition and are there any chances i might get a good scholarship with this?
Ho much is your scholarship? I’m asking because I have no idea how much it could be and right now I dont have any savings 😭 I’m from brazil living in the us for a while but I dont make a lot of money to feel like I cn reach that dream of going to berklee
Hellow ... I am from India and Im a sarod player learning indian classical music from Indira kala sangeet Vishwavidyalaya University of music and arts ... And I want to learn about western sounds like blues .. so which type of practice should I do for get an scholarship in Berklee ?
Dude, learn western classical music and theory part as well, then discover and explore, some western musical examination boards in India are ABRSM, Trinity and RockSchool…you should look out for music institutes in your town which are affiliated to these musical boards and then start your western music journey, Good luck
Why did you fly to Houston if Berkley is in Boston? I'd like to attend Berkley, but I do not want to live in Boston. Is there another location? I don't see any in Houston, Texas. Thank you for this video and congratulations on your scholarship.
I really can't find how to apply for admission and scholarship... ?? I badly want to go to berklee but my financial condition is not good.. please help me out how to do that ... XOXO
My audition is less than a month away now. I am playing steelpan and I have been practicing for over 4 months now. My only question is when you auditioned, was the track you played with for improvising was similar to the practice tracks on the website or is it totally different stuff? that is my only concern right now
If you are applying to be a voice principle - then of course! ☺️🙈 if you have a different instrument then don’t worry about singing and focus on your playing. 💪
If you live on campus - I think yes because they would deduct the scholarship money from the overall cost so tuition + housing! If you don’t live on campus then no :(
