@@1980bwc the issue would be with the older machine. It likely has mineral oil which causes the 134 to separate causing temperature glide issues. Because the machine was manufactured in 1993, it probably has mineral oil.

The square headlights on '78 Ford trucks was a "Ranger" or "Explorer" package and most, if not all 1 ton cab and chassis. Then all F100s and above starting in '79. A fire blanket is really handy buddy plus the old bucket of sand can help too. The problem with car fires is fire usually has air below and fires eat air so if you can get the blanket over the top of the engine you can attack it from below. In your situation, I would have an old cotton bedspread over next to the trough you have for checking tyre punctures so you can soak the bedspread and smother out the full engine bay. It's a cheap fix bud but it works a treat. All the best from Scotland

460s are awesome engines. They take stroker kits well. You can get 557 cubic inches with a stock block, 4.50 inch stroke and + .080 overbore. No mods needed to the block other than boring. You'll probably want to do a sonic check at .080 though. I built a 532 stroker for my '74 Cougar. Almost done with it. Love your vids, Mortske, especially the long ones.

I do believe the fuel return line is to help with vapor lock, it helps keep the fuel cooler on those hot summer days. Old school hot rodders kept the fuel cool with cool cans. Also the old ford vans in the sixties had problems with vapor lock because the metal engine covers next to the driver would get so hot as to burn my thigh while driving them back in the sixties and seventies for work.

The shop I worked at in the early nineties had a Ford tow truck. I rebuilt almost everything on/in it. It was F600, I swapped out the straight 6 and 4spd. I put in a 391 with a Clarke 5spd and 2spd rear end. It had a Holmes 880 twin boom. It work very good at pulling vehicles out of the ditch. You can hook up the vehicle at 2 different points and work it back and forth to get them out.

Fire blankets are super cheap and will extinguish 95% of fires you'll run into, throw some in the cars and have a few tossing around the shop as well. A welding blanket will do the same job in a pinch. I just bought a set of extinguishers for the house and garage after a welding incident that could've gone real bad, definitely a wise investment. They're expensive, but not as expensive as losing the shop.

The biggest difference between R12 and R134 is the pressure. An R12 system will work with R134 but youll have to use a tinny bit less freon. R134 will run at a higher pressure just by nature. So at idle, R134 in a R12 system wont work as good. Going down the road it will work fine. If charged completely, R134 will blow up seals and lines and or not cool very well. As far as the recycle machine goes, it will work fine. Just use PAG oil. Will work fine. Ask me how I know 😂

The tow point for the receiver hitch can be used without the clevis, you can put a soft shackle through the hole in the tow point. Using soft shackle is safer than the clevis. If the clevis breaks it can become a projectile. Soft shackles won't.

I'm not sponsored by CYCLOPS, but I would love that...THE most awesome little light, super bright and a magnet that you need to actually wrestle off anything it's hooked on!! Also, these are reasonably good vids from Mr Mortske

After seeing all the cars at the show I realized the car to find is a 78’ Chevy Monza Wagon V8. Wish I hadn’t sold mine years ago. She had a 383 Stroker /4speed ,and handled like a corvette. Actually better ..

33x12.5 fit on my 81 1/2 ton 4x4 Scottsdale, that was stock with 3 tapered leaf springs in the front and 6&1 rear leaf springs. Here in Michigan they are starting to harvest wheat. The rear springs being separated like that is called eagle winged and is quite common for older well used springs. There is a lot of rust scale between the leaves of the spring. Also the twin I-beams with king pins used to be available for lowering the front. That was close to 16 years ago though when I did suspension and frame work.

Happy Monday, Mr. Mortske.. In the 1990s.. I had a Ford truck Newest Ever and My last. A 1978 F 100 Forest Green 300 inline 6 3 on the tree short box and it had the round head lights. From North Carolina bought out of a garage in Watertown,Wi. 1994 spring or early summer no rust a nice truck, But as A ford would have it, ALWAYS Breaking down. 1999 my last fomoco truck to this day. Chevrolet and Dodge trucks WAY,way better than Fords.
