Oh, Becky, this was so much fun. Thank you for putting in the effort to include the real-time footage of each of your scenes - this was one of the most enjoyable videos I've watched in a while. I love your sketchbook and what good memories you have now. ♥️
Wow, Becky! This was a fantastic video. I really appreciate all the hard work you put in filming, painting, editing and narrating for this video and of course all those thousands of steps you walked everywhere. This video was so well put together - interweaving the video, pictures and paintings - just wow 🤩! I loved hearing about and seeing all the places you went and all your beautiful paintings in your sketchbook. You have a great eye for composition and layout in your sketchbook. And all your paintings are so truly lovely and interesting. I loved hearing about the history of all the places too. Thank you for sharing your experiences, videos and beautiful artwork with us. You always inspire me to do more artwork.
Thank you so much! They can be quite a challenge to put together, but I try to keep them in a reasonable time frame so they don't go on for too long and get boring, lol.
“Only skies, water and sand” sounds pretty good to me right about now 😊 Dreamy vacation, beautifully done sketch book and a great video! Thank you so much for sharing your “big fat Greek“ vacation impressions with us, Becky. Hugs from California 🤗
I really appreciate all the hard work you put into creating this video for us! I got to see your wonderful paintings, an amazing place in the world I would never have seen, and learned so much about the history and mythology as well! Plus bonus cats and doggos!💜💜💜
Hello Becky ,What a really lovely way of recording your time away…the wet wipes made me laugh xxx Wow Greece it's Jaw Dropping. Really Beautiful . You are too hard on yourself , your are is brillo. Thank you so much for your email …I am done chasing the Unicorn hahahaha Thank you for all the information though xxx Always so helpful and sharing xxxx I love the History you told wow, wow, wow! Our Friend Comes from Corfu He has family there ….I’d love to go to Greece, Years ago I went to Athens for 3 hours when I used to work on the cruise ships Great Video .Happy Swatching xxx
Thank you - I'm glad it ended up being a successful trip with minimal problems, though of course there were a few glitches here and there. Corfu was definitely a highlight for me!
What a great sketchbook of your trip, Becky. I really enjoyed your video and recognised a few places that I visited years ago, especially Corfu. I remember we were poor backpackers and rented a room a bus ride from the town. Something woke me in the night but I quickly went back to sleep. In the morning I looked out the window and the whole village was sleeping on mattresses in the open. I had been woken by an earthquake. No one had bothered to tell the dumb tourists to get out of the building. Anyway I still love Corfu and Greece.
What a wonderful trip you had! I loved how you filmed this video, it was so nice to see your photos and footage along with your beautiful sketch book. Thank you for taking us along I really enjoyed the trip.
I enjoyed your video so much, Becky. Your commentary, photos, and sketchbook were captivating, and I loved all the personal touches. I was sad when it ended. Kudos!
There are lots of historical events which happened around Greece that only locals seem to know about. Acheron River and Thermopylae and Brauron were other places which had minimal tourism. Athens, Corfu and Meteora had all the tourists, lol.
@@BeckyTregear it was really cool to share all that with us. If I'm not mistaken, king Leonidas was the youngest of the 300. He only took with him older males with established male heirs whom themselves had sons. Which makes it even more badass. A bunch of elderly Spartans saved democracy for us all. They sure don't get enough credit.
Seems you and Nick had a fun visit to Greece. Thanks for sharing your travel journal with us. Your urban paintings are a delight and your stories and photos really made your journal come to life. Forever memories
Thank you Becky for.sharing.your experience, info, photos & artwork. It looked so nice & sunny in Greece. I liked the animal encounters you had, especially the cats. 😊
Becky this was incredible. I felt like I got to be there too. Thank you so much for taking the time to actually go through this and show us photos and footage. I’m so glad this was a longer video and it wasn’t just rushed through in 10-15 minutes. I love Greece having so many cats they’re just beautiful and that little dog that you liked so much you can’t help it. You just want to bring them back with you. I would stop at all the animals too. I get distracted whenever I see one no matter where I am, I could be on a mission for life and death, and if I saw a kitten or a little dog, I’d still stop the colours and the monasteries, particularly on the top of the rocks, are some of them really hard to get to the other ones, I wonder how they built them up so high.
Thank you! I was trying to balance it not being too long or too short; it took ages to work through! 😂 Most of the monasteries are easy enough to get to now, as they have modern steps up to them. The old ones would have been brutal to climb! It's amazing how they built them where they did.
Hi Becky, What a wonderful yrip you had! And your sketchbook is amazing! All that history portrayed by your pictures, video, and amazing paintings. It is awesome. Thank you for sharing.
What an amazing holiday and precious memories for you both photographed and painted!! I'm glad I could have come along with you in this wonderful video, I really enjoyed it! So many kitty kats :D lovely!
Wow, what an amazing effort!! It would take me a year to sketch all that! Painting is somehow both relaxing and draining for me at once so i'm impressed that you filled a whole sketchbook and with such an interesting variety of content. What a special momento and accomplishment. Loved both the history and personal take on things too, thanks for making such an enjoyable video🏝️⛵🐈🐕
The book feels more precious than my photos, I guess because it took so long to paint all of the pictures and I have a lot more emotion and energy put into it. I'm so happy I managed to finish the whole book! ❤
I've watched this all the way through twice now. Love it. I was especially interested in seeing Corfu as we are starting work on a play set in Corfu. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
Becky what a wonderful, generous video! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us - I just love your sketches, especially the ones of the kitties! I travelled to Greece solo a number of years ago and my priorities were just like yours: all kitties, all the time. So glad you had such a fantastic trip ♥️😘🇨🇦
Oh my, I enjoyed your tour of Greece so much. The history, the architecture, the sweet animals, the little shops, the beautiful skies, and you captured it all so nicely with your art. I think I’m gonna watch it again bc I was cooking and couldn’t pay full attention. Thanks! 😊🇬🇷
That doggo around 22:40 looked like an English Cream Golden Retriever, or a mix. We have two xD I'd have been very disappointed if they hadn't been such a sweetie, they just live for love! what a great trip you had, so many paintable scenes and bits :)
@@BeckyTregear Also, I had to tell my mom what you titled the video because she loves the movie "My Great Big Fat Greek Wedding" and Segway jokes like that and she loved it too!
This video was lovely and you did such a great job capturing your trip. Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience. You are amazing. Thank you especially for sharing your paint palettes at the end of your trip. It's amazing how much paint these little palettes hold for all the painting you did. Sounds like you and Nick had a great time and that he has so many family connections to Greece. You should be very proud of yourself for completing this sketchbook and memento of your travels.
Thank you so much! I was really happy to accomplish so much while on the move, and it's definitely the most I've ever done on a holiday. Those tiny palettes are awesome with how much actual paint they hold. ❤
Thank for showing your sketch book, it's lovely and you have inspired me to try and capture my next holiday in a sketchbook. Must try and get back to Greece again, love your other video showing your art shops. Thea
It's rather time consuming, but I did a lot during ferry rides, and when Nick was with his family having long conversations in Greek which I couldn't follow because it was too fast, lol.
We did a high school trip to Greece.... Wow, that was almost ten years ago, but I recognized some places you filmed, especially in Athens! I must admit it made me cry a little :') My grandmother is Greek and I always had a deep fondness for this country and its anciant mythology. Thank you for your video, Becky!!!
@@BeckyTregear Yes, we were very lucky! It was the kind of trip our school could only afford maybe-every-five-years 😂 I love it so much, I hope I can go back some time ♥
That's a beautiful gateway to the underworld. It might tempt a few 😛 I wouldn't have wanted to drive too. I tried to drive once in the US in opposite side and honestly couldn't get out of a tight carpark. I wasn't used to the angles being opposite, so hubby gave in and took over. He is also American, so it's more natural for him. Looks like you had a fantastic trip and filled with lots of great memories.
Oh I'd be so hopeless with parking! And roundabouts were really confusing too. Even Nick struggled, and I was always having to remind him to Keep right! Keep right! 😂
a sketchbook full of lovely memories, what a heartwarming video. I'm glad you had a good time! Some of the places you shows are also familiar to me, it felt very nostalgic. I admire you for being able to complete a sketchbook, I hope I can sketch more in the future ^_^ Loved all of the cute animals as well, we sure have a lot of them here in Greece. The art toolkit palette seems to have served you well, I need to look into it too i think!
This was a great video! A really nicely done tour of Greece. I loved how you put it together with sketches and photos with video, thank you so much 😊 i really enjoyed it
I just found jour channel when looking for travel art kit videos. I must say I love your art style and also you have a lovely gentle voice when narrating. I'm glad I ended up here ❤
It looks like you had a fabulous trip! Amazing that you got all of that into one sketchbook! It was very enjoyable watching you walk through the pages and seeing some of the videos/pictures of the trip. I will be doing a 2 week NewZealand trip later this year where I will be taking a travel sketchbook as well.
Thank you! I hope you get to do some sketching in NZ. I took a sketchbook there too but didn't fill up as much as I would have liked. For some reason I found more time on the Greece trip to do stuff, or I was more motivated....not sure, haha!
I'd love to do another Aussie road trip now! Greece is quite challenging because of the language barrier, but it's also tourist-friendly in a lot of places and the ancient history is astounding.
@@kyliescolouringindownunder3098 We went there for a wedding anniversary! Stayed on Magnetic Island for a week, and saw some friends who were living in Townsville at the time.
I just found you on RU-vid and of course I (and hubby) had to watch your video of your trip to Greece (we are both of Greek heritage and have visited Greece many times over our long life😉) The video is so well-done and with your commentary it was so great to watch and remember places that we also have visited! We love your sketchbook too! Thank you so very much❣🙏🏼
Thank you, I really appreciate your lovely comment! That was a very fun trip and we are thinking of a new trip somewhere. Hopefully we can get away a bit later this year, maybe not quite so far away this time, lol.
Your sketchbook is AMAZING! What a beautiful diary of your trip!! I think you were far too hard on some of your pages, I love everything! I can't believe you were able to finish it already, I'd still be trying to decide what to paint on about page 5 lol. Have enjoyed your art shop tour, your haul video and the sketchbook tour... a lovely trio of videos about your vacation! I love my Art Toolkit palettes, it was interesting to see how much paint you had left after filling your sketchbook. Goes to show that I might not need to buy more paint if those little pans can last that long 😅
Thank you! Building perspective is so difficult to get right, but I think some of my later drawings improved, so I am happy I learned something along the way. I also counted pages into four week groups so I could keep track of where I should be, and then I could skip pages to go back to later on. 😊 The toolkit palettes hold so much paint considering how tiny they are. I could have used bigger pans for Buff Titanium and Random Grey though.
@@BeckyTregear Buff Titanium is surprisingly useful when out and about! I need to check into Random Grey, I'm not familiar with that one. I struggle with building perspective when it's not "straight on", but I thought yours looked wonderful!
Excellent video, Becky. Thanks for making it! The photos and clips from Greece are so interesting. It looks a wonderful place. 😊 Your sketchbook is marvellous! My favourite spreads are the landscapes (wow, those mountainous rocky areas with the monasteries😮) and the gorgeous animals. 🐶🐈🐦I'm now inspired to do something more than just the front page in my after-the-fact sketchbook from a trip to the UK...back in 2015.😅
Do you know that "Take my money" meme? That would have been me with those mouse figurines.. to me, they're not tacky, they're amazing! 😂 I love stuff like that and I'm sure I would have caved and bought them 😂 Thank you sooo much for this video! It was insanely amazing to "walk" through your sketchbook (and see all those amazing place you've visited! I really need to put Greece on my bucket list)! PS I'm really curious about how your husband ended up in Australia with so much family in Greece!
I was all "shut up and take my money" with that glass cat plate I showed at the end! 😂 There were souvenir shops everywhere and I had to exercise some restraint, though I was admittedly tempted by the mice, haha. Nick's parents migrated to Australia in the 60's for work purposes (easier to get a job overseas and send money home). They met in Australia, and then ended up living here ever since. Some family lived here for a while and then moved back to Greece, while others stayed. It's the same for my family with a lot of migrants as well, while others stayed in the UK.
I really enjoyed that trip to Greece! I’ve only seen a bit of it off a cruise ship. I’m getting ideas for how to do a travel sketchbook for my trip to Italy next month.
This was great. Thank you for sharing and inspiring me. We have a trip to Boston MA soon and I want to do a travel sketch book like this but wasn’t sure how to do it. I am not comfy sketching out in public yet but want to try to capture memories like you have done. Thank you for sharing.
A lot of the time I'd take photos on my phone of things I might like to sketch, and then work from those to fill the book. Some was done at the time, or I'd at start on location and then finish it later from a photo. It's very time consuming! 😂
Wow I loved seeing your work in your sketch book, I just love Greece and unfortunately I wasn’t into painting at the time otherwise I could have painted it too 😂 but I can go back and use photos I took and also visit it again hopefully some day soon. ❤
Wow thanks so much for your video and sketch book tour i will never be able to go to greece ,so im so grateful you took pictures and did this video so now i can see a bit of history i also like how you went off the beaten path to find interesting historic sences..thank you so much for explaining your sketchbook..and the sketchs looks lovely.. many pretty colors and i also like how you had different thumbnails (is that right term?)on each page..mikelle art mom🎨✍👩🎨 mouses were cute...
