Spent my birthday skating in 40 degree weather on a new 9.75" egg shaped board from Heroin Skateboards 🥳🛹 Let me know if you guys know of any companies that make egg boards with a 15" wheelbase 🙏🏼
I asked FOS about this on instagram a while back and he responded that a 15 inch wheelbase would defeat the purpose of an egg board and even a 14.5 wb was stretching it.
I've actually looked into the and am going to try out a wheelbase mod kit to extend the wheel base so we'll see how that goes but I don't know if that would end up making the board feel shorter since the kicks would slightly be smaller 🤔 @@KillSanchezVol.1
Antihero Huffer shape- 9.18"/ 32.62"/ 14.81"WB (Crailtap Phawt shape is almost identical) and the Krooked Eyes shaped deck- 9.3"/ 33"/ 15" would be my suggestions. Both are like longer eggs but with a slightly fuller tail and pointier nose. Happy Birthday!!
Krooked Eyes 9.3 x 15WB will be my first egg board The egg shape is different from the Heroin egg though Crailtap Phawt and Jacuzzi 9.1 also come in longer WB, 14.75 and 14.5 respectively
Dude, thanks so much! I didn't know that Krooked egg shape even existed but it looks perfect! I'm definitely going to get my hands on one of those for sure. Thanks legend 🙏🏼
I feel this. I was riding egg boards for about 5 months b/c I was bored of skating and needed something different but then got tired of not being able to do a lot of my tricks with the egg so I switched to an 8.5 popsicle which I’m hooked on now. The egg was a nice change though!
Hbd boss! You should try using the chems wheelbase drilling tool to adjust your wheelbase to what you need. Zack dowdy and Robbie Rodriguez have a few videos using it and talking about the pros and cons
Nice I’m about to setup the heroin “wide boy” board and didn’t realize it had a smaller wheelbase, as a 400lb skateboarder I wonder how it’s going to feel… Regardless I’m excited to skate it, I’m curious if I’ll want a longer wheel base considering I mostly skate transition
Oh sick, that board actually looks insane but I want to try one as well lol Yeah longer wheel bas will definitely help transition skating so you can comfortably stand wider on your board 👌🏼
@@LeonPaxton sweet thankyou for the info! i went and cruised around on it today and it was a boat! For what its worth the wideboy has alot more concave then i thought it would which is really nice if you actually do flip tricks (i dont haha)
Some of the Heroin boards have a 14.4" and 14.5" wheelbase but that still just doesn't feel right lol Yeah dude, it's really hard to find the wider boards that are actually longer too 😩
How does the 15" WB benefit you? What specifically are you able to do, or do better, with a board with a 15" wb? Is it mainly less squirrely ride away down stairs vs 14.25" wb?
Because I’m so tall and heavy that being able to stand with my legs wider apart makes me more stable and comfortable dude! Especially if I’m jumping down something big if my feet are closer together (because of a shorter wheelbase) it just ends up pushing my knees together and not being that great for my joints. I feel pretty comfortable on a 14.25” wheelbase if I’m just skating basic spots or skatepark but for the bigger stuff I definitely feel better in a longer board if that makes sense lol
I’m 5’8 and size 10 shoe. The Swampy pro model fits me perfect. I can’t go bigger than 14.25 WB and 32in long. Try curb killer 5 or search around there are Heroin boards out there with 14.5WB maybe longer
Yeah dude, that size sounds perfect for you then 👌🏽 I’ve got one of the 10” curb killer but I’m not sure if I can ride that as my daily 🤔 Although the 9.75” feels pretty good so I guess another quarter inch up isn’t that far of a reach lol
Ok dude I'm 40 and just converting to these boards after coming from an 8.5 baker. I got the curb killer 5 and the wide boy 10.75 inch. Honestly being my age I pretty much just skate slappies and cruise around transition. I don't really Ollie or do flip tricks anymore. Do you think I need to worry about the wheelbase problem becoming a struggle in the future or not a "perfect" setup?! I love these boards making manuals easier and just throwing it down whatever way being symmetrical. I picture these boards lasting me years considering I usually have 3-4 setups at a time and build other setups when I'm feeling impulsive to try something new. Been thinking about trying that 9" anti hero popsicle too which is at my shop now.
Oh sick dude! These big egg boards are perfect for your style of skating then 👌🏼 It's totally up to you man, a longer wheelbase wheel help you stand wider on your board which could help transition and slappy skating but if the 14.25"-14.5" wheelbase is working for you then there would be no reason to change it. You might just have to try a board with a longer wheelbase like that Antihero 9" and see if you like the longer boards any better 🤷🏽♂️
@@LeonPaxton yea this whole wheelbase thing is definitely a thing. In my 25 years of skating I never thought about wheelbase until recently when younger skaters and the internet brought it to my plate haha
I was riding the Antihero Orange Crusher for the last 2 years, and someone gifted me a Heroin egg and I instantly fell in love with it, but have had the same concerns as you. I've yet to try it, but the Welcome Boline 2.0 is apparently a 33" egg with either a 14.75 or 15" wb. I think it'll be my next setup.
You should ask to Control skateboard manufacturers based in Levis (Quebec/Canada) they can make custom boards and they just realised a new egg shape few month ago,so it should be possible to make length and wheelbase of your choice!!
Size 12us shoes that 9.75 looks ideal for my feet What truck size and brand you using for that 9.75 egg? The dimensions reckon it’s 9.38 over the trucks .. what you recommend ?
Yeah dude it would be, I’m US11 and love these boards! I’ve got 9” Slappy trucks on this board but I’ve had them from when I was riding the 9.5” Razor egg which is 9.1” over the trucks but I haven’t bothered to size up for this 9.75” board. I probably won’t go up in truck size unless I move up to a 10” board lol
Differents brands of truck affect your wheelbase too. Indys give you a shorter wheelbase. Krux gives you a longer wheelbase. Other trucks are somewhere in between.
Yeah dude, Thunder have a longer wheel base too but then that changes the turn and how your nose and tail slides work. It's hard to find the perfect truck that does everything lol
the new Cardiel 'huffer' shape is 9.18 x 32.62 x 14.75 WB..fairly close to what you're after. just picked one up and it'll be next after this Heroin Dressen egg wears out. super hyped on the slightly football shape and the longer WB as also being a bigger than average human the Dressen, as fun as it is, is just a little too short for me on bigger trannie...and carrying around multiple set ups, or constantly swapping wheels around is getting old.
Yeah dude that shape is sick! I've actually rode one of those before but sadly the 9.1" width feels a bit small to me now lol Haha yeah I feel you man, I've got so many different assortments of set ups at the moment 😂
I would say at least an 8.5” board dude if you’re the same size as me! But it depends on what type of skating you’re doing and what’s most comfortable for you though at the end of the day
I used to ride Thunders for years but since I started skating Indy's and Slappy trucks I'm not sure if I can go back to the Thunders that don't turn as well. Although that would definitely create a slightly wider wheel base and give me more stability like you said 🤔
@@LeonPaxton yes i love my nanos got the 52 glad they are making more sizes now. Im looking into egg boards but with what you describe and tall like me id say the origional heron would be a good fit
welcome has a couple shapes that are long and wide necromancer is 9.125 x 14.75wb golem is 9.25 x 14.75wb magic mace is 9.0 x 15.0 wb they are shaped decks tho so not entirely sure if that's appropriate
grimple stix just realeased a 10" egg with a 14.62 wheelbase. almost the same dimensions as the heroin 10" but a longer wheelbase so overall longer board. CENTER WIDTH (IN): 10.0 LENGTH (IN): 33.25 WHEELBASE (IN): 14.62 NOSE (IN): 7.25 TAIL (IN): 7.375
Powell Peralta just put out some 90's reissues that are egg shaped and have longer wheelbases or the guy that owns my local shop makes the Chems wheelbase mods.
It's funny, your biggest issue with the Heroin Eggs is what makes them great for me, as a 5'7 guy I live for the nice agile wheel base and most other brands shaped boards seem to have 14.5"+ wheelbases whereas Heroin goes wide but keeps it shorter.
Just redrill the wheelbase on one truck u will just have a shorter nose or go get a custom shape make from a local shop that presses there own decks. happy birthday hope it was a good un.
I like 15” wb on ramps. I’m bigger than you, or heavier at least, and pretty comfortable on 14-14.25 wb. I can’t say I’ve tried a popsicle bigger than maybe 8.4” so maybe I’d like a longer board/wb. I have a cardiel grimple stix, it’s more of a football than an egg like a ‘92 shape I think it has a longer wb and 9.3” but haven’t set up yet
Maybe check out Death Breath? I know it's not a commercial brand, but it looks like they make nice boards and in a lit of big shapes. Also, im dying to try one but I'm not in AUS sooooo if you'd do me the solid and try one out that'd pretty sweet. Also, it doesn't solve the lenght problem, but i could be worth getting one of those drill jigs from Chems skate and drill your wb a bit wider? Then again, you're a big dude goin down big stairs so that might not work out so well. Last thought: steal the nose/tail shapes off the Heroins and cut your shape out of a 10" pop!
Yeah dude, I've got them on the list to check out and it will be sick to support a local company 🙌🏼 I'm actually looking to use one of those wheelbase mods actually and trying that out but yeah I'm not sure how that would effect the board overall but it would still be cool to test it out! That last one feels like the most difficult option for sure 😂
Get that re-drilling tool and move your trucks 3/8" each either way. It'll shorten the nose & tail but they're over 7" on the Heroins anyway. 14.25+0.375+0.375=15 🤙
Yeah I'm going to test out a wheelbase mod kit and see if I can re drill and extend the wheelbase but I'm not sure how that will effect the board overall since then the kicks would be slightly smaller 🤔
it's not an egg but I just got a Antihero Grosso double driller dagwood that is extra long and I love it. it's close to 34 long, and is 9.125ish (6'2" / 250)
I've actually been looking at the Antihero Green Giant! 9.56" wide, 33" long & 15.25" wheelbase which sounds amazing but I'm really loving the symmetrical eggs 🤔
I'd get it and sand the tail into egg shape. it's almost egg.lol. also considered that board...but wanted to ride thunders and liked how the 161's lined up with the 9.125 board @@LeonPaxton
I also ride a 9.5 in razor egg board from them as well and it’s great I’m pretty much the same build as you as well but I’m thinking about downsizing to an 8.5 to lighten everything up
@@LeonPaxton fair point but I already have hollow trucks and lighter wheels I’m just looking for a smaller deck predominantly for flip tricks still finna keep the egg deck on standby tho
I know you love your aces, but have you considered trying ventures with forged baseplates? Their geometry makes for a substantially wider real wheelbase. Look at Ben Degros videos on more info...
@@LeonPaxton venture only goes up to 8.75" axle with the 6.1 though. you could look at that with the krooked team klassic that comes with a 14.5" wheelbase and 9.1" width if that is not to slim for you by now
@@LeonPaxton also there is the new antihero gerwer grimple asphalt animals 10.0 twin nose egg with 33.37" length and 14.66" wheelbase. you could combine that with thunder 181s whose true wheelbase will be between ventures and aces...
THERE - DSPH Front 9.3'' - 15 inch wheelbase, looks like tapering popsicle OPERA - Beast 9.5'' - - 15 inch wheelbase, but a bit too custom shape FROG - Bubbly (Pat G) 9.8'' - 15 inch wheelbase, but a bit rocket shape EVISEN - West Thanks Dad 9.5'' - 15 inch wheelbase, ut a bit rocket (black label alike) shape -I'm personally happy with shorter wheelbases (with being 1.8 m tall)
Leon… hope you are well man. Really want to pull the trigger on a egg shape. Im 47… 95kg … 5”10. Point me in the right direction dude. Just wanna cruise bowls and hit quarters etc 50/50, stalls , and a few coping tricks?
Sick dude, do it for sure! What size popsicle do you usually ride? I usually recommend people to go up1/2-1 inch from their popsicle size for an egg board. If you get the same size egg to your popsicle than it will feel smaller since it's only that wide in the middle and then the kicks taper and are smaller! Hopefully that makes sense and help lol
@@LeonPaxton thx bud. I bought a cabellero “ban this “ shape as i love the old school! Its 9.25 over the front trucks..but 8.75 over the back. I was thinking the nail gun gary?
its not a egg, its football shape more. but I think this might be your dream board. minus it being 9.01 Width Powell Peralta Mike McGill Skull & Snake FLIGHT Deck Wheelbase 15" Deck Length 32.45" Deck Width 9.01" Deck Nose 6.5" Deck Tail 6.75" SKU DCPAFLTMMSS0521821 UPC 842357187177 Brand Powell-Peralta Deck Shape 218B
It’s definitely a football shape, it’s just referred to as an egg now from Heroin’s naming and marketing I guess 🤷🏽♂️ I actually tried one of the flight boards before and it just felt odd to me. Almost too light and too flexible 🤔
@@LeonPaxton yeah i wish it was slightly wider i love the shape and how it skates but i will say the price is worth it with how well its still skating and holding up after 4 months but im 100% trying a heroin egg board soon
So Brand-X/Toxic skateboards has a 9in. What they call their eggy-pop shape and it has a 15in wheelbase. I'm 48 years old and been skating for about 37 years and I've skated about every deck imaginable and I set it up with some 159 Indy titaniums, some Bronson raws, and Bones X-Formula 99's and I gotta say probably the best setup I've ever had. The board needed no break in time, no getting used to. It was like I've been riding the deck my Whole life! Absolutely Amazing!! So that would be my recommendation. 🛹🤘
