Thanks for the video. What county in Florida is your hog hunting property? My mother's home is in Duval county and I have tried hog hunting on nearby public land without any luck. I am considering buying hunting land specifically for hog hunting.
Bow Hunter! Don’t feel bad! You are hunting with antiquated equipment and that’s part of the game! If you don’t want that to happen get an Excalibur Crossbow with a scope! Problem solved!
@@OmnivoresHomesteadAndQuivers I’ve heard of soaking it in vinegar but I really don’t know if it helps. One butcher told me nothing helps. If you trap and castrate them they get fat and much more edible. But good luck with that
When I saw you shoot and hit him far back I thought to myself, "It ain't your fault." I've had 'em jump the string way more than once. I haven't even watched the whole video at this point but I've been there and I certainly know from experience that it's a real pain in the ()you know here) when they jump the string. I've had deer do it. And that is one of the difficulties when you're shooting traditional. A faster bow sometimes gives you a bit of an advantage with speed but when you're shooting traditional, such as I also do, it is what it is. I shot compounds for many years. Upgraded my bow to the fast flite system, shooting an overdraw. BUT, I returned to my roots of shooting traditional. So I understand all of what you're dealing with. I just thank you for filming and showing what we "Traditionalists" have to deal with. I'm 75 years old and have been bowhunting since I was 13 years old. So think I can safely say "been thee, done that. Keep doin what you're doing my brother, You're on the right track!
I'm kinda undecided whether to like this or not. And don't take it personally. But I'll be straight and completely honest with you. If you are not 100% comfortable with that bow right now. Do not use it to hunt. You are taking an animals life, and you owe it to them as a conservation ward, to do the utmost you can to make that death as swift as possible. Anything less than that is disrespectful and embarrassing. A shity shot with a bow you are used to and comfortable with is one thing, and is part of hunting. We all know that arrow will never beat the reaction time of whatever it is we're targeting. But you admitted to swinging 3" high, over top of the back, on a deer that morning. That. Should. Never. Happen. But at the same time. I really appreciate how considerate you are in terms of using things that are biodegradable, and I know from your videos, you do have a ton of respect for the animals you harvest. You must've smoked it's diaghram or somethin that it didn't get too far. But I'll leave it at that. Take it with a grain of salt if yuh want, I'm just yuh know, 3rd party perspective, and giving you my honest feed back. You owe it to yourself & that animal to be the absolute best you can be with your equipment. Congratulations on your hog man, that thing is a fricken tank !!
I’m not offended at all by your reply. It’s not that I’m uncomfortable with my equipment back then it was more I was so excited and my adrenaline gets the best of me. I’ve since gotten my emotions far more under control but thinks do happen. It is just a stick and a string. I look back on this film and hardly recognize the person. Now things are so different. I shoot a far more controlled shot. I have a much more efficient arrow setup. But most of all my emotions are in check. Most of the time. This hog I never in my life thought I’d place a hand on him but the shot was actually ok. I didn’t know it at the time though. Camera angle makes it look not great but it was a liver shot with a little lung. He passed in under a minute. I still can’t believe it. If I could. Do anything over on this hunt I’d wish my film editing skills were a better. I was so excited learning to cut films and music that I got a bit to into it. Now a days out stuff is much cleaner
@@OmnivoresHomesteadAndQuivers glad to hear it man 😁 see that? Liver+lung, lacerated the diaghram, took the wind right out of em !! You're so lucky to live where you live, I've always wanted to go hog hunting ! I've got some good bucks in the cams lined up for this season 👌 Wish you all the best in yur upcoming hunts 🙌 and always looking forward to yur future footage, yur a good dude 🍻
Dude I swear, I had the same sub count as you do...then I blinked and your up by 4 times as many ahah. Doing well, hope things keep rocking! Love your channel, I've been binge watching since this morning...
Looks like he made a little hop just as you let lose. Its just part of bow hunting but your tracking skills payed off.Good hunt bro! Do you hunt pigs all summer?
I feel your pain on the noise pollution one of my favorite old hunting spots out here in Arizona is around Luke Air Force Base flight path for their Jets which will kill a hunt in no time flat. It did help with flushing quail & dove though
I shot a doe on Sunday she jumped the string and I hit her in about the same spot as u did the hog. That was one of the best blood trails I've had on a deer it was 5 foot wide with blood up on trees 4 foot high. Same scenario she was a little spooky but she had her head down eating. I'm glad you got him though he had big cutters congratulations.
Beard problems brotha. I feel your struggle. My pal always jokes that I could be the back up singer for ZZ Top. I tell him a man does not have a beard if you can still see his neck. Great videos partner!
Deer react “sometimes “ when we shoot. Hogs react “ every time” we shoot. I’ve watched a ton of video...they always either spun or drop....sometimes both. Nice hog.
Great job. He definitely moved before the arrow got there, there's nothing we can do about that. I see you're hunting from the ground. Are you kneeling to shoot?
mouflon slayer it looks that way in the film. Odd angles and lack of anything to scale it in the film makes it look that way. If I sent you photos of us trying to cram it in a cooler you’d see how big it really was.
What a jumpy pig... this guy has definitely had some close calls via whizzing arrows. HA!!! How cool it would be to have gotten the shot on your tree cam; I've seen this on RU-vid the other day. Anyway, can't imagine why you got any thumbs down; you did well but I was pretty sure (yet hoping) it would turn out good (and it did). Those liver shots work but you have to give them an hour or two so they'll fold up and go to sleep.
Honestly I had to rewatch the film because I didn’t remember. If you look in the beginning of the film one is a judo point. Back then I shoot at squirrels with it when I’m bored in the blind. So the one broadhead hit the pig and the Judo point arrow was in the dirt
