The Paris to Barcelona tgv does not take bikes. It sucks!

@@andigoescycling that's what I thought - boxed up would be ok - but no - there is simply no room for a boxed bike. I think if you can get your bike broken down small enough that the bike bag looks and sizes like luggage you will be ok. I tried to do this about 2 months ago as I needed to get my e-bike from the Isle of Man to Perpignan on the train and ferry. SNCF would not let me book the bike as it wasn't luggage sized - a regular cardboard bike box is too big. I ended up bringing it unboxed via the Portsmouth to Caen ferry and renting a car in Caen one way for the day and driving down to Perpignan - just took the front wheel off and it fitted into the back of a Nissan Micra no problem. Normally the TGV will take a boxed bike if you book it ahead but not the Paris Barcelona route. To do that trip you have to use the much slower TER trains and change at least twice. Hope this helps.
