For my birthday adventure this year I decided to be a tourist in my hometown. Since we are both native Los Angeleans, (a rare breed in LA,) Kent and I toured and experienced the burgeoning history, restoration and resurgence of downtown LA.

Did you know that Anthony Quinn's last name was Oaxaca? He was an Irish-Mexican from Chihuahua!
Did you know that gold mining millionaire Lewis L. Bradbury died before the completion of the historical Bradbury office building in 1893? It is only one of 4 hostorical monuments in #DTLA - a must see.
Did you know that The Last Book Store called "the labyrinth" is a porthole into an alternate universe?
We learned such interesting facts & fantasies as "tourists" in our town. We rode the Express line that goes from Santa Monica to Downtown LA directly. Had lunch at #Otium next to the #Broad Museum - Took a #walkingtour with the ethusiastic & informed Aaron from #dtlatours - We wined and dined in the skylounge at #71above - in the tallest building on So Cal..on the 71st floor of the U.S. Bank Tower building - where I did NOT take the transparent glass slide ride affixed to the outside of the building between the 69th and 70th floors! (Go ahead - you do it!)
It was a funfilled memorable day and I want to go back and do it again! I saw your tweets and birthday wishes pop on my phone so I felt you there with us too.
If you ever come to LA - enjoy a trip downtown.
